Album Spotlight: Kelly Price - Soul Of A Woman

Kelly Price started out as a background singer for Mariah Carey. When she released her debut album; "Soul Of A Woman"; she created a buzz as a dynamic singer/songwriter who was ready to rival Mary J. Blige and even Mariah Carey. Kelly's debut went platinum thanks to the first single; "Friend Of Mine" which was also a hit. Let's not forget the remix with R. Kelly and Ronald Isley. The song was performed so convincingly Kelly obviously could relate to the situation.

A lot of the songs on "Soul" displayed Kelly's big and powerful voice and top notch songwriting. Some of my favorite songs include "Don't Say Goodbye", "You Complete Me", and "Her".

Kelly would eventually garner comparisons to Faith Evans; who was a personal friend of hers. Kelly's "Soul" was the beginning of a line of successful albums that followed. Make sure you check this album out if you haven't already.
