Tamia's days of being an independent artist are over for now. The Canadian songstress has inked a deal with Def Jam Records. The singer recently announce the news. Tamia's last two albums were indie releases and the first indie release did moderately well. I wonder what made Tamia considering going back to a major label. She obviously struck a suitable deal that works for her. Let's see how this goes. When you tune in to this year's Video Music Awards, one performance we all will be looking forward to is undoubtedly Beyoncé. It has been revealed that Tamia will release the song Give Me You as her album's second single. Her new album Beautiful Surprise was released last week and is estimated to have sold over 10,000 copies in its first week. The title track which serves as the first single is currently in the top 40 of the R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart.  Tamia is rumored to be joining R. Kelly on tour in the coming weeks. 

Busta Rhymes insists that his newest album Year Of The Dragon is not his Cash Money album debut. Instead the album will serve as a free album to the fans which will be available this August on Google Play. The album contains the single King Tut. Appearances come in the form of Maino, Robin Thicke, Trey Songz, Lil' Wayne, and Rick Ross. Speaking of new albums Tamia will be releasing her new album Beautiful Surprise on August 28. Soul legend Stephanie Mills has spoken out on artists like Brian McKnight and Erykah Badu and their desire to shock. Brian McKnight has ruffled quite a few feathers with this latest selection of songs including those about "pussy". Stephanie feels that some of these artists who she referred to as "older" artists do shocking things like this to stay relevant. She also went on to do discuss how Erykah Badu felt the need to take off her clothes in the Window Seat video. Though she did proclaim her love for both artists she wasn't exactly hating just stating her opinion. Mariah Carey has been hinting on Twitter that she plans to release new music this Summer. With this Summer just beginning new music is obviously around the corner. Mariah has been hard at work on her new album along with Jermaine Dupri. Not much else is known about the upcoming album from Mariah at press time. Her husband Nick Cannon did hint awhile back that the new music harks back to Mariah's 90s heyday. You ready for a new Mariah Carey album? We can definitely count on some good music from Mariah. Tamia's last album Between Friends was released in 2006. K. Michelle is one of the many cast members on VH1's Love & Hip Hop airing June 18. The singer who has worked with everyone from R. Kelly to Trina is releasing her own EP 0 Fucks on July 9.  The outspoken singer is planning a possible duet with Keyshia Cole and recently expressed her dislike for cast member Lil' Scrappy referring to him as a "nut bucket".

Lil' Kim just added more concert dates for her upcoming concert tour; "Return Of The Queen Bee"(I think that's the name of it). So far several names have been attached to Lil' Kim's upcoming album including Guyana, French Montana, Wale, Ryan Leslie, and Young Jeezy(who appears on the leaked track; "Keys To The City". The song "Countin' Money" recently leaked out! Trey Songz has confirmed a release date for his new album; "Chapter V" which will be in stores and online June 26. A week before that will see the release of R. Kelly's new album; "Write Me Back" which features the hit single; "Share My Love". July 10 will see the release of a new album from Tamia entitled; "Beautiful Surprise".

Hello all! There are a couple of music news stories that I wanted to talk about in depth so this post is a little lengthy but worth reading; I assure you. I'll start off with Mr. Drake who is riding high with hit singles; "The Motto" and "Take Care". He also recently ended his petty feud with Common. Now Drake is being called a diva and properly worse by the people at Vibe after this fiasco... I was watching "The Wendy Williams Show" the other day and she spoke about Drake during her "Hot Topics" segment. Apparently he was supposed to appear on the newest issue of Vibe magazine but the magazine ditched him. Allegedly the rapper was acting like a "diva" and the magazine opted for his own label mate; Nicki Minaj! Word is that Drake beefed with the stylist over clothes; showed up late to the set; and drove off in his Jeep. I wonder what is going on with Ms. Ashanti and her video to her single; "The Woman You Love" featuring B...

Tamia hit the Pop Top 10 with this hit song from her Gold album; "A Nu Day". Tamia is working on new music and its just been revealed the album is titled; "Beautiful Surprise". There is no word yet on when the album will be due.

One of the few songs I actually like from Tamia and some years down the road it was remade by Fabolous and Ashanti. Tamia got a little upset when she claimed that her vocals were still used and then radio changed the version to Fabolous Featuring Ashanti Or Tamia - So Into You.

More info; well a little more is starting to be revealed about Beyonce's upcoming untitled album which now has a working release date of late June. There was a report that the singer played select album tracks to the international execs at Sony. The new music has already been described as "epic" and "groundbreaking". We shall wait and here. There have been some pictures that leaked out of Beyonce on the set of a video reportedly for her first single which we've yet to hear yet. Word is though the new single drops this month. Another artist dropping an album this year is Canada's own; Tamia. It's been five years since her last album; 2006's "Between Friends". The upcoming untitled album is slated to be released in the next few months. I read that a gospel song produced by Shep Crawford(worked with Deborah Cox) will be featured on the album. Tamia won listeners over with her first hit single, "You Put A Move On My Heart" from Quincy Jones' "Q's Jook Joint" album. When it came time to release her self titled debut album in 1998, she hooked up with Jermaine Dupri who produced her first single, "Imagination". It's not particularly a favorite of mine but it gets the job done. Much better was her second single, "So Into You" which was remade by Fabolous & Ashanti and Tamia a few years ago. I read that Tamia will be releasing a new album sometimes this year. If that is true this will be her first new album in six years.
