So 2017 has shaped up to be quite the year for stripper turned former reality TV star turned rapper, Cardi B. Her single, "Bodak Yellow" ruled the Hot 100 charts for 3 weeks and a few days ago she was on stage with her boyfriend, Offset from Migos when he proposed to her. Friday saw the release of the new Migos record, "Motor Sport" featuring Cardi B. and Nicki Minaj. News of the record quickly spread and before you know it was trending on Twitter and had everyone drawing comparisons as to had the best verse between Cardi and Nicki. Some people allege that both ladies were subliminally dissing each other since the media(and fans) have been trying to pit both ladies against one another. Last year, Azealia Banks angrily recalled a wild night that she spent with RZA(of Wu-Tang Clan) when they were invited to a hotel gathering held by "Gladiator" actor, Russell Crowe. According to RZA, Azealia's behavior was "erratic" and Crowe spat at Banks, called her a "nigger" and threw her out of his party. This vile act caused a rift between RZA and Azealia Banks as RZA had recently directed her in the feature film previously titled, "Coco"(now known as "Love Beats Rhymes"). Azealia publicly denounced both RZA and Russell Crowe for his behavior and RZA not defending her. Now, RZA is finally speaking out revealing that Banks' story of what went down that night was indeed true. He says that he didn't spit on her but "spat at her". Jay Z claims he turned down an offer to perform at the Super Bowl next year and the NFL responded by offering a slot to Justin Timberlake. The question is will he invite Janet Jackson to perform? Remember the two famously performed(and stripped)in 2004 and it led to huge backlash and numerous fines for network CBS. I'm sure the censors will be in full effect as Justin performs. I would expect a PG rated show though from the former Disney star.  Female rapper, Khia(song: "My Neck My Back") has called out singer, K. Michelle over her Lupus disease diagnosis. To sum it up, Khia basically feels that K. Michelle's revelation is straight up bullshit. Who knows? K. Michelle has yet to respond. Cardi B. is having the best week ever as her single, "Bodak Yellow" has FINALLY hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Bodak Yellow" is the first solo single from a female rapper to top the chart since 1998 when Lauryn Hill released "Doo Wop(That Thing)". Cardi has received congratulations from everyone from Missy Elliott to singer Taylor Swift(who sent the rapper flowers for her achievements). I would definitely say "Bodak Yellow" is the song of the Summer. Congrats to Cardi B. Now that Cardi has hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, people will be waiting to hear what Cardi has in store for us next musically. Today marks the birthday of the late Whitney Houston' and super fan and friend, Brandy posted a tribute to the singer on her Instagram page. Once posted, Internet trolls called out Brandy for her choice of words when she said Whitney passed her the "torch". After catching wind of the comments, Brandy shot back at several of the commentators and also called out singer, Monica for not checking "her evil ass fans". Azealia Banks did an interview with XXL magazine and she spoke on her upcoming collaboration(song: "Ain't Know" from Banks' upcoming album, "Fantasea II: The Second Wave due in August or September) with Nicki Minaj's ex, Safaree Samuels. She said her decision to work with Safaree wasn't because of an alleged rivalry between her and Minaj but "industry shit" as Banks calls it. Banks later said that she wrote Safaree's verse on their collaboration and its "hot". Once the interview started making the rounds on Twitter, a Nicki Minaj fan retweeted an excerpt of the interview where Azealia revealed she wrote Safaree's verse. Nicki Minaj surprised fans when she revealed through Twitter that she and Trina have recently collaborated. The revelation caused a frenzy resulting in the news to cause "Nicki & Trina" to begin trending on Twitter. It's funny because some people were acting like this is the first collaboration between the rappers when it fact it will mark their fourth collaboration. Good evening all! Nicki Minaj strikes again! A snippet of rapper 2 Chainz and Nicki Minaj's new song titled, "Realize"(from his album, "Pretty Girls Like Trap Music" due June 16) has surfaced after someone recorded footage of the song playing at a listening party. In the song, Nicki alleges, "Papoose wrote the "(SH)Ether" record but I broke Aretha record". Those are some interesting lyrics there but based on the snippet I heard the song sounds a little underwhelming. Perhaps I have to hear the song in full. In the video game, there is a caption between two characters in which one characters asks if they heard the "Fan2Sea" album. The other character replies that the album is "loud" and "annoying".
