Sparkle is best known for her duet with R. Kelly Be Careful which was released in 1998.  Her debut album Sparkle was released in 1998 and went Platinum. 

sobad Whaddaya know? Sparkle returns to the music scene with a new song So Bad . The song was co-written by Sparkle. No word yet on an upcoming album or if one is in the works. I wouldn't be surprised if Sparkle were signed eOne Records like everyone else. You may all remember Sparkle when she was introduced to us by R. Kelly by way of her own debut single Be Careful . It appeared on her 1998 Platinum album Sparkle . Born Stephanie Edwards the singer left R. Kelly to sign to Motown Records back in 2000. Prior to that Sparkle sang back up for Aaliyah. A few years ago Sparkle infamously announced that the girl in the infamous sex tapes with R. Kelly was her niece.

"It's A Fact" was the first single from Sparkle's second album; "Told Ya So" which to me was a swipe at R. Kelly. I remember R. Kelly speaking briefly on Sparkle or vice versa and R. Kelly stated that Sparkle wouldn't be anything without him; guess he was right. "It's A Fact" didn't do anything on the charts but the song and video are still very memorable. Sparkle pays homage to the 1992 film; "Basic Instinct" which stars Sharon Stone. I read awhile back that Sparkle was recording an album called; "Split Decision" but I'm not sure what has become of it.

The album featured other singles; "Time To Move On" and "What About" but "Be Careful" remains her most popular and notable single to date. The album; "Sparkle" was certified Platinum. This is one of the few albums that I still play to this day and sometimes all the way through. It is that good and R. Kelly produced and wrote the entire album. This would be Sparkle's only successful album to date. R. Kelly and Sparkle had a falling out a year later over creative differences. She signed to Motown in 2000 and released the album; "Told Ya So".

You may of slept on this hidden gem from Sparkle's 1998 self titled debut album. Sparkle was primarily known for her duet with R. For nearly 20 years, R. Kelly has wrote and produced many hits not only for himself but a host of female artists. Sparkle hit it big with the R.Kelly-assisted debut single, "Be Careful". Her debut album, "Sparkle" went platinum. After a falling out with R. Kelly Sparkle returned to music with her second album, "Told Ya So". This is one of my favorite videos. I always liked this song and of course no one can write a ghetto love anthem quite like R. Kelly. Just ask Truth Hurts, Sparkle, Mary J. Blige and countless other female artists. This was released at the beginning of R. Kelly's child molestation charges. Luckily for Kelly and Nivea this song managed to peak at #20 on the R&B charts and #52 on the Pop charts! You will notice R Kelly isn't in the video due to his child molestation charges so former labelmate Nick Cannon stepped in as the wayward lover.
