Album Spotlight: Brandy - Never Say Never

Brandy's "Never Say Never" was the beginning of the working relationship between Brandy and producer Rodney Jerkins. This was the album that not only made Brandy a superstar but Rodney Jerkins a sought after producer. So to say this album did wonders for both their careers would indeed be a true statement.

The album's first single; "The Boy Is Mine" a duet with Monica went to #1 and earned the singers a Grammy award. "Sitting On Top Of The World" featuring Mase was Brandy's second single which took aim at the legion of haters. "Have You Ever" was produced by Diane Warren and went to #1. There was also "U Don't Know Me(Like U Used To)" which was released in remix form which featured Da Brat and Shaunta.

The album starts off with the mesmerizing; "Angel In Disguise" which is a fan favorite and features background vocals from singer Joe. The song was not issued as a single but still managed to peak in the 70s on the R&B charts. One of my personal favorite songs is "Learn The Hard Way" which is simply just an album track but those type are always my favorites. "Truthfully" is a honest ballad that is another favorite of mine followed by "Put That On Everything".

Brandy and Rodney definitely did their thing on this album and their chemistry continued on 2002's "Full Moon". This is Brandy's best selling album to date and one listen to this album; you will see why. Check this album out if you haven't already.
