R&B singer LLOYD has parted ways with his longtime record labelThis comes as quite a surprise to me because I thought Lloyd was going to be with The Inc. for the long run.
The Inc.- just a month after ASHANTI walked out of her contract at the music firm.
Ashanti left the label, run by music mogul Irv Gotti, in May (09) after years of reportedly frosty relations with The Inc. bosses. And Lloyd has now followed her out the door after releasing three albums with the company - but insists the split was amicable. He tells AllHipHop.com, “I’m ready for a change. There’s no bad blood. I just feel I need to take more control over my career and get a fresh start. Hopefully Irv can understand my position."
Brian McKnight Plans New Album!
Brian McKnight is "almost done" with his first set of all-new material in three years and predicts its first single could "go to radio in the next two weeks."The as-yet-untitled album, which will be a joint venture between McKnight's own label and E1, will be his first studio since "Ten" in 2006. The singer, songwriter, musician and producer says that he's "taken some different directions" this time, ranging from "five to six Brian McKnight kind of songs that you'd expect" -- including the planned first single, "What I've Been Waiting For" -- to one track that has "a reggae feeling that I've never done before." McKnight says he's also been influenced by his sons, who are concurrently recording their own album.McKnight's album also features duets with Stevie Wonder on a song called "Without You" and with Jill Scott on "More Than Just a Thing."Michael Jackson In Another Lawsuit!
A music promoter has sued to stop Michael Jackson from performing in London this year, claiming his appearances would violate a prior contract.If it is not one thing with Michael Jackson, it is another. The amount of lawsuits Jackson has faced is astounding and probably can't be compared to any other entertainer in history.
New Jersey-based AllGood Entertainment Inc contends in the lawsuit filed in federal court in New York it signed a deal with the singer's manager, Frank DiLeo, in November committing him to an appearance in the U.S. this summer.
Under the agreement, Jackson is not supposed to give another concert before that show, the lawsuit filed Wednesday (June 10) states. Jackson has signed with AEG Live to play 50 shows at London's O2 Arena starting in July.
