I would like to introduce this new post entry you will start to see a lot of. 'Career Profiles' is just what the title indicates. It is basically a profile on a particular artist which features detailed information on different aspects of their life and career. You just might learn something you didn't know.

We all know her as the 2004 winner of "American Idol". We also know her for many personal trials and tribulations that she has endured during her career.

Style - Fantasia's personal style is one that has been ridiculed ever since her 2006, "Fantasia" album. The album which was a huge departure from her debut marked the beginning of Fantasia's freedom and experimental style. Gone were the sophisticated pantsuits in favor of clothing that didn't quite accentuate her figure. There was a level of tackiness involved in Fantasia's personal style. It made everyone ask "Who was dressing this girl?". And the only time Fantasia looked half decent was during award ceremonies. But it wouldn't be surprising if her hair was some sort of strange color or style. Then again that is what we have come to expect from the singer and she is somewhat known for that.

Personal - Much of Fantasia's personal life has been ridiculed after the singer admitted she was illiterate. Nowadays critics are harsher than ever and they didn't spare Fantasia any sympathy. Her made for TV movie debuted high and gave everyone a behind the scenes look at her life story. Meanwhile Fantasia took up with rapper Young Dro who many felt was living off her or bringing her down.

Career - Fantasia's career like many American Idol winners and runner-ups have faltered. Why? I blame J Records. It seems like they just don't know what to do with Fantasia or many urban acts for that matter. Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard recently revealed that J Records didn't know what they were doing. Fantasia's debut, "Free Yourself" went platinum and contained multiple hit singles. "Fantasia" went gold and featured two hit singles. Like many labels, if the right singles were chosen a lot of these albums would be more successful in my opinion. Then again what do I know.

Her second album on had one hit but I think a lot the problem with that album was her. Her style had that "I just don't care" attitude. You have to help your self to be successful. However, she might have just been fed up because even though her first album sold nearly two million copies, she had her image together then and she still didn't get that huge "push" and support from her record label. So, I'm thinking by the time she released her second album, she was just tired and frustrated. Here she is delivering music that is critically acclaimed, looking nice (for the first record) yet isn't full pushed and promoted by the label. Hopefully, she won't let that get to her this time around and work hard, look nice and things will fall into place.

Well "hood boy" was a moderate hit at least on the R&B charts since it peaked at #21 so that's why I just referred to it as two hit singles.

I kept wondering what it was about this post, that made it so successful; one word: JANET! The fact that Janet has new music on the way makes this post even more of a hot topic.
