Michael Jackson & Rihanna Sued!
In the latest of a never-ending string of lawsuits, a Cameroonian musician is suing Jackson and Rihanna in a Paris court, alleging they swiped a hook from one of his tunes.The suit, filed Tuesday by 75-year-old Manu Dibango, claims the Moonwalker had previously acknowledged using a section of Dibango's 1972 track "Soul Makossa" as the riff on "Wanna Be Startin' Something," one of the hit singles from Jackson's 1983 landmark Thriller album. The two sides eventually reached a settlement over the unauthorized sample. Rihanna came to be involved in the dispute in a roundabout way. Turns out she licensed the same hook from Jackson for her 2007 smash "Don't Stop the Music," but no one bothered to get permission from Dibango.
Eve Talks New Album!
It looks like the self-proclaimed “pitbull in a skirt,” Eve, will be releasing her heavily delayed album after all.In an interview with the New York Post’s PopWatch blog, the West Philly MC blamed her disc’ repeated setbacks on her “whole music label situation” with Interscope, but said it should finally surface this spring or summer.Initially set to hit stores in 2007 under the title Here I Am, the rapper/actress said the LP has undergone many changes. “It won’t be called ‘Here I Am’ anymore,’ she said. “Now it’s called ‘Flirt.’” In addition Eve says the music will be a lot more positive then her original effort. “I had to get in there and put in some upbeat music that I wasn’t depressed about,” she said of the new tracks. “It’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s totally me. Imagine if ‘Tambourine’ had kids — that’s what the CD sounds like.”
Beyonce Cries Over Etta James' Comments!
Word has it that Beyonce spent all day crying her eyes out about Etta James ripping her to shreds about singing her song. B’s reps are declining to comment, but folks say she barely wanted to show her face yesterday and her feelings are extra hurt. I also hear that Etta called Beyonce greedy, her dad pushy, and said she always wants to be in the spotlight. And the original Diva no likey that ish. The verbal catfight continues….
Wow! I don't know whether to believe this or not. There have been other times where other more recognizable divas such as Aretha Franklin have made statements about Beyonce. I don't recall Beyonce crying then. Then there were the comments Beyonce supposedly made towards Janet and the Jackson family. So maybe in a way this is a case of what goes around comes around. Who knows?!?
