Music Feed: Triple Theats

Music is not enough these days. You have to conquer the world of dance, film, TV, and more. More and more you see artists expanding their repertoire. They are not just name brands. They are empires. They own production companies. The list goes on and on. I have conjured up some of most well known 'triple-threats' in the world. I know I'm leaving some out but here are a few worth checking out.

Beyonce - Starting in one of the most popular girl groups, Destiny's Child, Beyonce is perhaps one of the biggest stars in the world. Not only does she excel in music and dance, she is also an actress. From "Dreamgirls" to the upcoming "Obsessive", there is no mountain too high for Beyonce to climb. Beyonce's latest double-album, "I Am...Sasha Fierce" has recently been certified double platinum. Her newest movie, "Obsessed" will be in theaters on April 24.

Jennifer Lopez - Beyonce has cited Jennifer Lopez as one of her main influences. This style icon started out as a 'fly girl' on FOX's "In Living Color". Afterward Jennifer Lopez became a box office draw with hits such as "Monster-In-Law" and "Maid In Manhattan". As if movies weren't enough, Jennifer became a huge star in music as well. It didn't hurt that she could already dance her ass off. Jennifer is currently gearing up to release a "Greatest Hits" album due later this year. A new full-length studio album is also in the works helmed by producer Bryan Michael Cox. As far as movies are concerned the long delayed, "The Governess" is next on the radar.

Will Smith - Before he was this iconic movie star, Will Smith was an old-school rapper who drew critical acclaim with songs such as "Parents Just Don't Understand". Next, came Smith's role in NBC's, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". From his feature debut in "Six Degrees of Seperation" to his most recent role in "Seven Pounds", there is nothing Will Smith can't do. Keep your eyes and ears out on what's next from this one-man empire!

Paula Abdul - The eccentric star of "American Idol" got her start as a cheerleader who choreographed and danced her way to super stardom. She is the woman behind Janet Jackson's early dance moves. She even became a huge pop star in the late 80s and early 90s. Her legacy continues to live on through FOX's "American Idol" and her own show Bravo's "Hey Paula" which chronicles the star's crazy life. Next up for Paula is possibly a long talked about return to music. A little birdie also told me she is leaving "American Idol" after this season is over.

Usher - Can you remember when this fresh face star debuted on the music scene? Just at 14, the star released his LaFace Records debut. It wasn't until his 1997 "My Way" album that this star's star truly began to shine. Ever since then the star has released platinum album after platinum album. Aside from being an astounding singer, Usher can dance his ass off. He has even tried his hand at acting but hasn't fared as well as some of his counterparts. There is nothing that Usher can't do though. Next up the star is working on a new album with Pharrell Williams.

Janet Jackson - Perhaps coming from a famous family made her work harder. She started out as a actress on TV(Different Strokes, Fame, Good Times). In the early 80s she began her music career. By the end of the decade she was a superstar. Years later she began her film career to critical acclaim. Over the years her star has tarnished a bit but no name, no face is more recognizable than Janet Jackson. There have been rumors of a baby on the way but only time will tell.
