People That Had Us Talking - July 2008

For those of you who are unfamiliar with some of the things I do here at this blog, let me take a few minutes to inform you. At the top of each month I do a retrospective involving past events from the previous month. I do it because its nice to look back and see what was going on at a certain time in our lives. I have compiled a list of several people that TRULY had us talking all month long. Check it out!


Ice-T
It's been quite awhile[exactly almost 2 decades ago]since Ice-T had people in such an uproar. The rap legend[if you dare call him that]spoke out against rappers Lil' Mama and Soulja Boi. The rapper expressed his disdain against the new rap acts ruining Hip Hop. Ice's comments even forced loudmouth Kanye West to speak out siding with Soulja Boi.

Jesse Jackson
Could Jesse Jackson be jealous of the first black Democratic nominee Barack Obama? During an interview Jackson angrily whispered that he "wanted to cut his[Barack]n*ts off". Jackson's comments landed him in a sea of trouble. Suddenly everyone had something to say regarding Jackson's rude gesture and his state of mind.

DMX
When it comes to being the bad boy of Hip Hop, DMX is currently wearing the crown. July found the troubled rapper facing several charges involving everything from theft to fraud. Clearly DMX needs to get his self together.

Rick Ross
A leaked picture of Rick Ross in a law enforcement uniform caused a major uproar last month. The rapper later denied that he had been a correctional officer. Speculation arose to who leaked the picture. Former labelmate Trick Daddy was said to be the culprit but denied it. Rick Ross' past was a big deal and it still is. Whether he was or was not a law enforcement officer, it has not hurt his career.

He finds Lil' Mama annoying. He wouldn't discuss how he designed his blog's banner. He was afraid I was going to take his idea. Not! He feels that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon marriage is "staged". Two heads are always better than one. These famous duos have made their mark in music history. Be it, there timeless love songs or their magical combination, these duos could do no wrong in our eyes. Unfortunately like any group troubled times put a damper on many of the working relationships that existed between these duos. Never forgetting the legacy that exists between these duos their influence and impact on society is examined here. Check it out! Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell This is for serious old school folks only. A lot of new school folks may not know much about this duo. Former labelmates and lovers found success in the early Motown days. Their songs would later become anthems and torch songs. You all, my readers, my visitors; my supporters; you have made this post one of the most successful posts on my blog. I kept wondering what it was about this post, that made it so successful; one word: JANET! The fact that Janet has new music on the way makes this post even more of a hot topic. As its been said before, no one sings about sex quite like Janet Jackson. Her songs, ooze with the right amount of sexuality perfect for a night of steamy sex. Take a look back at a number of songs Janet is responsible for delivering her in trademark breathy delivery.
