Jennifer Lopez New Single Originally For Brandy?

What a lot of people don't know is that when we hear a song from an artist particularly a singer; that said singer may of not been the original singer for that said track. Many times songwriters write songs particularly with a singer in mind or just in hopes of shopping a song around. A song can be recorded by multiple artists and multiple versions of that song can leak. But of course you all knew this right?

Jennifer Lopezs' newest single, 'Louboutins' was originally for Brandy but find out how it landed in JLO's hand. Read below for more on that story and news on Teddy Riley and Mary J. Blige.

There has been much talk about the origin of Jennifer Lopez’s first single “Louboutins.” The producer behind the track, Tricky Stewart, is setting the record straight on how the designer heels ended up on J.Lo’s feet.

“We originally wrote the song for Brandy and when Brandy’s situation kinda fell apart over at [Epic Records], there was an opportunity for us to place the record on J.Lo’s album,” Stewart explains to Rap-Up.com. Brandy was previously signed to Epic, currently home to Lopez.

The Grammy winner describes what it was like to collaborate with J.Lo on “Louboutins,” for which she will shoot a video next month. “I’ve always been a fan of hers and have so much respect for her career, how she’s put it together, and where she’s come from,” he says. “It was a great opportunity and she sounded amazing on the record, and [Epic] obviously already loved the record ’cause they loved it for Brandy. So once we got it sounding great, it seemed like a no-brainer that it would be the first single.”

Tricky and his hitmaking partner The-Dream contributed other material to the superstar’s new project, but he didn’t know if it would make the cut. “We did do other songs, but I don’t want to say our other songs are on there and they’re not.”

Mary J. Blige Rules With New Album!
With sales of 330,000 copies in its first week, Mary J. Blige's newest album,' Stronger with Each Tear,' may have missed the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart – thanks to Susan Boyle's dominant debut – but she's setting records of her own on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, where it has entered at #1.

This is the Queen of Hip Hop Soul's third studio album in a row to sell more than 300,000 in its first week. 2007's 'Growing Pains' sold 629,000 in its first week, while 2005's 'The Breakthrough' debuted at No. 1 with 727,000. Both sets were released in December.

According to Billboard, Blige is the ninth woman in SoundScan's 18-year history to see at least three albums all debut with an opening sales week of 300,000 or more.

'Stronger with Each Tear' is her 10th top 10 album on the Billboard 200 and her seventh set to reach the top two slots.

On the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, it is her ninth #1 opus. Not a bad way to cap off the year – and the decade.

According to Billboard, she trails only Aretha Franklin (who has 10 #1 albums) for most chart-toppers among women in the chart's 44-year history.

Blige has been keeping busy promoting the new opus, which has yielded the empowering anthem 'I Am.
Teddy Riley Beating Up On His Daughters?
Teddy Riley -- a singer from the R&B group Blackstreet -- is accused of using a guitar from the video game Rock Band in a violent attack on his daughters.

Teddy's 18-year-old daughter Taja Riley was granted a temporary restraining order against her dad -- claiming 43-year-old Teddy abused her and her older sister by "stomping, punching and bashing them" in his L.A. home on December 23.

In the documents, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Taja claims at one point Teddy, "lifted a Rock Band guitar and threatened to kill person(s) w/ it."

Taja claims she suffered several injuries in the alleged altercation -- including "bashes to temple, contusion on face" and "pain in knee."

Teddy has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from Taja. The next hearing is set for January.

2009 Recap: Bad Rap

Consider it a case of art imitating life as several rappers went to jail or are going to jail.

Lil' Wayne recently conducted a farewell concert in his hometown with the possibility of him going to jail for a year.

T.I. was put in jail earlier this year but word is he has been released! I haven't heard more on this story so I'm not sure.

Gucci Mane was at his peak this year when he landed in the slammer...again. When will these rappers learn?

Max B went to jail as well and I think it was for robbery.

Remy Ma shot up her best friend and Da Brat pistol whipped a patron.

I'm so tired of these rappers getting arrested every year. Let's hope next year these rappers and others have better luck.

Throwback Video: Salt-N-Pepa - Independent

As the end of the year starts to wind down, there is less and less music news to report. Like I really have to search. And there won't be really much music news until 2010 and you know the first few months of the new year are typically slow. Meanwhile we can always go back in the past and long for the days of yesterday.

Salt-N-Pepa were true trailblazers and this video is just one of many that proves that. I have a lot of memories when it comes to this video and many of Salt-N-Pepa videos. I was a young child who grew up with my sister who would sit and watch videos on MTV on the weekend. This is just one of the handful of videos I remember as a child. Enjoy!

Years later Salt-N-Pepa would have their own reality show which revealed an estrangement that I never knew existed. Any time I would see Salt-N-Pepa they always looked happy and to be the very best of friends. But I never thought about the stigma that comes with girl groups and Salt-N-Pepa were no exception. While Salt is relatively quiet these days, Pepa is gearing up for a new reality show, 'Let's Talk About Pep' to air this January on VH1. Make sure you check it out!

2009 Recap: Keri Hilson...What's The Big Deal?

One of the breakout artists of the year is Keri Hilson; there is no denying that. There has been a lot of hate towards Keri Hilson but is it deserved?

Well for starters I remember hearing about the story where a fan met Keri Hilson and she was rude to him. The upset fan took to YouTube to air her out and gripe about his experience. Keri and her team did some damage control by showering the upset fan with gifts; I wonder did it work??

Who could forget Keri's dis to Beyonce and Ciara on the 'Turnin Me On Remix'; which basically blew up in Keri's face. Keri eventually denied the song was a dis and allegedly claimed the song wasn't supposed to leak out. I wonder why.

There were some good moments for her though. She had three hit singles; 'Energy', 'Turnin' Me On', and 'Knock You Down'. Her debut album, 'In A Perfect World' went gold. It was definitely one of the few R&B releases to go gold; so that in itself is worth the congratulations.

Keri won several awards this year. She was a winner at both the BET awards and the Soul Train awards.

So how would you say Keri Hilson's year was? Definitely an unforgettable one in more ways than one.

Did I miss anything?? I'm still thinking. I think that is it. Let's see if I can get a few more 2009 recaps before the year is out. As we know this year is slipping by us and in a matter of days it will be 2010!

Raheem DeVaughn Plans New Album!

2010 is looking to be a very interesting year in music and I'm hoping it will be much like 2001; a year that music was at its peak. There are so many artists coming out and releasing albums in 2010. I have lots of reason to be excited but not too excited because I can be let down very easily.

Raheem DeVaughn who we all know from his hit, 'Customer' is one of the many singers who will be releasing a new album next year. Read below for more info on his album as well as news on Donell Jones and Jay-Z.

Set for release early 2010, DeVaughn's "Love & War" is led by the socially conscious cut "Bulletproof," followed by "A Wing and Prayer".

Citing war and life for many this decade, DeVaughn says “Bulletproof” is more like these are the problems; this is what we facing…almost like it’s a warning. Then “A Wing and a Prayer” is like okay, we know these are the problems, but I still believe in the power of prayer."

While DeVaughn is capturing history on "Love & War" he has not forgotten about the songs that made him a household name like "You," "Love Drug," "Woman" and "Guess Who Loves You More".

"Half of the album is on a “Bulletproof” vibe, like socially conscience, touching on different issues and half of the album is “love,” says DeVaughn. "It’s no time to be like sugarcoating nothing, like this is my rawest album yet."
Donell Jones Returns With New Album!
After releasing hit songs like "U Know What's Up" and "Where I Wanna Be," former LaFace recording artist Donell Jones took a break from music. With a recent digital release titled "The Lost Files," Jones says he's back and here to stay with plans for an independent debut in 2010.

"I've had a lot of time to work on it and I know it's going to be one of those joints you can play from beginning to end," Jones tells Singersroom. "I tried to approach this album in a way that every songmeant something; a strong meaning behind it."

Fast at work on the effort, which is due for release in 2010, Jones hopes fans will appreciate the album's feel good vibe and deep content.

"I really feel like my fans will appreciate it a whole lot because there is some deep situations on there and its real feel good music. I have those mid-tempo records that you can step to and grove to. I just think it's going to be a great album."

Taking the producer's seat on the as-yet-untitled project, Jones has crafted the majority of the effort with some assistance, thus far, from Mike City, the Underdogs and Ryan Leslie.

"I'm just trying to get people back to getting familiar with Donell Jones. Over the years, every project that I’ve had, its always taken me 3 years in between to come back out and I’ve always thought that was too long," says Jones. "This time around I have my own label and it won't take me as long to put out records; I plan on putting out records every year...god willing."
Jay-Z To Debut New Video!
Jay-Z is moving into the New Year with a brand new video.

According to NBC, Jay Z will premiere a music video for the single "On To The Next One" during its broadcast of 'NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly".

Produced by Swizz Beatz, "On To The Next one" follows Jay-Z's successful run of chart-topping singles including "Empire State of Mind," "Run This Town," and D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)."

As previously reported, Jay Z will appear alongside Rihanna in two pre-taped performances on Carson Daly's New Year's Eve Special.

Throwback Video: Kelis - Milkshake

In 2003 you couldn't escape this song and years after its original release; you can hear this song in a variety of movies. I never been a big fan of 'Milkshakes' but Kelis' 'Milkshake' I was and the album; 'Tasty' became one of my favorite albums of all time. You gotta love Kelis!

Kelis is releasing her new album, 'Fleshtones' in 2010. The first single is 'Acapella' which is produced by David Guetta[worked with Kelly Rowland].

Alicia Keys Flips At Free Hotel Room!

Hello all! We all know Alicia Keys to be very reserved and posh(ha! I just felt like using that word). So when we hear of her being upset and out of her character; then it must of been a really good reason right? Well turns out Ms. Keys was upset about a free hotel room stay in London. Read below to get all the juicy details!

Shy and retiring Alicia Keys released her inner diva in London this week when a hotel suite she had been offered FOR FREE triggered an out-of-character hissy fit.
Alicia had flown into town to promote her amazing new album The Element Of Freedom and was initially more than thrilled to be offered the grandest suite of all at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge.

But upon arrival on Monday morning Alicia was far from happy. Despite the suite being used to accommodate stars of the calibre of Michael Jackson and Madonna over the years, Alicia hated it.
In fact the star – who’s riding high in the charts with Jay-Z on their Empire State Of Mind track – turned on her heel and walked away from what would have been a ¬three-day stay – worth an ¬estimated £5,000 – at the plush London gaff.

My source reveals: “The hotel had been in discussion with Alicia’s team for a week, preparing her suite with her favourite ¬flowers, scents and goodies. The ¬hotel’s Rib Room entrance on Sloane Square had even been closed off at her bodyguard’s request for her arrival. But when they saw the Luxury Suite, Alicia and her people asked for something bigger.

“They were told there wasn’t ¬anything bigger and that the Luxury Suite was the biggest and best in the hotel.

“Basically, Alicia took one look and said she ‘didn’t feel the vibe’. And when she does that, she’s not joking, so the whole ¬entourage piled into her limo and left.”
Pussycat Dolls Founder Talks New Album!
“As far as women, I’d love to do a collaboration with Fergie,” Antin told MTV News. “I think having her on an album would be incredible and something I’ve always wanted to do.”

“You never know, maybe Snoop will come back,” she said. “He’s always someone we love.”

“A couple of the songs right now that we’re working on are absolutely incredible,” she said. “Fun and definitely like a cool, unique sound. It’s definitely new and fresh, and I think everyone’s going to love it for sure.”
Recently Robin Antin; the founder of the Pussycat Dolls revealed that there would be some line up changes in the Pussycat Dolls. She didn't reveal exactly who but she did say that lead singer; Nicole Scherzinger would be there!

Trina Flips Out During Concert!

What has Trina so angry? Well apparently nemesis Khia performed before Trina and Trina wasn't too happy about that. I'd rather her before than after. Save the best for last. Trina was very angry and probably very drunk but I like this side of her. I was a little scared! Check it out!

Trina's long awaited album, 'Amazin' will be in stores March 30, 2010. That is a ways from now but it will be here soon. The song 'That's My Attitude' leaked out awhile back and there is a video of it being released soon? I'm not sure if it is her first single or not but might be.

Throwback Video: Mobb Deep featuring Lil' Kim - Quiet Storm Remix

I remember hearing this song many times on the way to school when me and an old friend of mine used to hitch a ride with this girl I went to school with. I eventually got this album from Mobb Deep and I think it also won them a lot of fans. Lil' Kim's verse on here was quite memorable and was said to be a dis to Foxy Brown. For some reason though I always thought she was talking about Charli Baltimore though.

When Foxy Brown caught wind of this song and its popularity; Foxy responded on Capone N Noreaga's 'Bang Bang' which went even harder and tore Kim a new asshole if you ask me. The war of words between the two ladies would continue for years to come.

Music Feed: Songs That Contain Acronyms

Songwriters are getting more and more creative with song titles. The most recent trend is the use of acronyms in song titles. Sometimes these acronyms have a meaning, and sometime they do not.

Check out this list I compiled for songs that contain acronyms! Step your musical knowledge up kiddies!

H.A.T.E.U., Mariah Carey
This is one of the stand out songs on Mariah Carey's 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel' album. Though people barfed at the video I actually love it. The acronym H.A.T.E.U. stands for 'having a typical emotional upset'.

I M.I.S.S. U, Nicole Scherzinger featuring Pharrell
You can't go wrong with Pharrell in my book! Pharrell knocked it out the park with this song. This is a very sassy and funky cut that was originally set to appear on Nicole's 'Her Name Is Nicole' album. Unfortunately that album never saw the light of day. A lot of the songs featured on the album were revived. You can hear a lot of them(not including this one) on the most recent album from the Pussycat Dolls.

As far as I know the acronym M.I.S.S. is just a play on the word miss.

G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T., Changing Faces
The majority if not all the hits from Changing Faces were written and produced by R. Kelly. Back in the summer of 1997, R. Kelly produced this gem of a hit! Believe it or not it took me awhile before I knew what this acronym meant. To be honest I just learned earlier this year. If you didn't know what this acronym meant; it means 'get out'. Only R. Kelly!

T.O.N.Y., Solange
Who knew that a song about an one night stand could be so good? I can't tell you how many nights me and my friend drove around listening to this song. We sang our hearts out and laughed at the same time. The acronym T.O.N.Y. stands for 'the other night [wh]y'.

PMS, Mary J. Blige
We all know what PMS stands for right? I thought I knew at first. Once I went back over this very post; I realized I had made a slight mistake. Instead of typing 'premenstrual syndrome' which is what PMS stands for; I originally typed 'post menstrual syndrome'. Close enough right?

Y.M.C.A., The Village People
Who doesn't know this song? This song has become a classic in its own right. The 'Young Men's Christian Association' has never been the same. Interestingly enough The Village People recently appeared on 'The Wendy Williams Show' to perform their cult hit!

Well there you have it people; another music feed! I hope you all learned something. These music feeds are for entertainment purposes as well to inform and enlighten the readers here. Thanks!

Jennifer Lopez Defends Her Singing Voice!

Jennifer Lopez has always been criticized whether it be her acting or more importantly her singing. The debate of whether JLO can sing or not didn't stop her from having several hit albums over the years. Now the singer is returning with a new album, 'Love?' due out in 2010. Check out the video as JLO comes clean on her voice and more.

I think JLO is a decent singer. At the end of the day I'm all about good music. It never mattered who it comes from. People that can't sing are half of the idiots that try out for 'American Idol' knowing damn well they should sit down!

Music Biz:
Ashanti's Stalker Details Released!

Those steamy voice mails, raunchy text messages and X-rated pictures?

Why, they were for the ladies, of course.

So says the Windy City wacko who's on trial for swamping Ashanti's mom with revolting messages and images he hoped would romance the R&B singer.

"That's sex texting, for the ladies," Devar Hurd explained. "She welcomed it."

The 31-year-old man took the stand Friday in Manhattan Supreme Court, where he is on trial for swamping the Long Island star's manager-mom, Tina Douglas, with lurid calls and texts.

Alternately describing himself as a music company executive, a singer, a car salesman, a model and a real estate investor, Hurd calmly explained to jurors that many of his "lady friends" welcomed the images of him pleasuring himself.

"I have this lady friend in L.A., and she likes this kind of stuff," he said.

Douglas, he insisted, was no different because she never demanded that he knock it off and only once swore at him.

"This is the thing, she welcomed the messages," he said. "She never tell me to stop, see?"

Hurd frequently peppered his testimony with "yada, yada, yada," and at one point rapped a few lines from the Snoop Dogg hit "Drop It Like It's Hot" while trying to explain a picture he sent Douglas of Ashanti squatting in hot pants.

"She has on these little shorts," Hurd said. "This is for the fellas."

The hip-hop hustler explained how a fleeting encounter with Ashanti at a 2003 Chicago concert convinced him they had a "connection."

"We had strong eye contact, and I'm like, 'Oh, I need to get in contact with her,'" he said.

Hurd's pursuit of stardom then led him to sing into an answering machine for Irv Gotti, until a member of the music honcho's posse leaked him a number for Douglas.

"I was like, 'Hey, wazzup, Tina?'" Hurd said.

The singer's mom rarely resisted his calls, Hurd said. Asked if Douglas "liked" him, Hurd didn't hesitate.

"Yep," he said.

Hurd said he also sent pictures of naked women to Ashanti's dad, Kincaid, but drew the line at sending him pictures of his own genitalia.

"He don't want that," said Hurd, who faces up to two years in prison if convicted of aggravated harassment. "That's for the ladies."
Mary J. Blige Speaks On Record Release Fight!
Mary J. Blige wants to damp down the drama over that fight at her record release party Tuesday night.

Contrary to claims that the hip-hop diva punched her husband, Kendu Isaacs, at a Chelsea club, Blige tells the Daily News she was simply trying to stop a brawl between Isaacs and her brother.

"Mary was not fighting with her husband," said Blige spokeswoman Karynne Tencer. "Her husband and her brother got into an altercation that turned into a fight. Mary went to break up the fight."

Tencer didn't immediately know the name of Blige's brother or the reason for the row.

Club security helped the Grammy Award winner pull the men apart, who also disputed reports that Isaacs' lip was bleeding.

"Nobody was bleeding," Tencer said.

Blige also denied she angrily compared Isaacs with notorious R&B star Chris Brown, who belted girlfriend Rihanna in February.

"She never mentioned Chris Brown," Tencer said. "Mary and Kendu went home together."

Blige had hoped the public wouldn't hear about the ugly scene at M2 Ultralounge, where she was celebrating her new album, "Stronger with Each Tear."

But after sources claimed she had smacked Isaacs because he was supposedly flirting with a waitress, Blige decided to set the record straight, Tencer said.

The publicist said the couple is celebrating Christmas with their three children on the East Coast.

"They're as happy as can be," Tencer said.

Amerie, Fabolous 'More Than Love' Video!

This is Amerie's third video single from her album, 'In Love & War' in stores now. I don't care much for the song but the video is pretty nice. I like the chemistry between her and Fab more so in the video and the ending is really cool too. Check it out!

News In A Flash: Usher's Newest Album Leaks?

As we all know the holidays is typically a huge time for music releases. Why? Well being that people are all throughout the stores shopping for gifts; why not provide the gift of music? Anyway one album that was supposed to be released this December was Usher's 'Raymond v. Raymond' but the album had been pushed back to March 2. Well apparently yesterday the album leaked out but I'm being told that it is simply an album full of leaked tracks; that leaked out this year. In other words a lot of those songs will be on the final album. Once again we continue to get spoiled and spoil ourselves. I think I will wait this one until the actual album is released.

Jennifer Hudson may have been quiet on the music scene lately but that was due to her recently giving birth to a baby boy. Now rumors have circulated that the singer was pregnant again! Well it turns out that the rumors are untrue. Jennifer Hudson is not pregnant!

Mary J. Blige just released her ninth album, 'Stronger With Each Tear' and the reviews for that has been mostly mixed. I, for one don't care much for the album but I know Mary will rebound again. Mary is already planning a future release which will be a jazz album. I don't know how I feel about that but my sister will love it. She loves jazz!

More Mary J. Blige news apparently there is a video where Mary allegedly punched her husband, Kendu Issacs. Apparently there was a fight that went down as well. I will have to give you all more details when I find out about it. I had been away one day and look at all the craziness that happens.

Hot off the heels of her recently released album, 'The Element Of Freedom', Alicia Keys plans to release her Beyonce duet, 'Put It In A Love Song' as her next single. You can't go wrong with Beyonce on a single right? I think they are simply putting this out for two reasons; one because Alicia's first two singles flopped and two; the power of Beyonce. Can you go wrong? We will see.

Jennifer Lopez New Movie Preview!

Jennifer Lopez returns to the movie screen in 'The Back Up Plan' which will be in theaters this spring. For some reason it seems like every major movie JLO stars in, the movie always ends up on TNT. Like they just love playing Jennifer Lopez movies most recently, 'Monster In Law' which is one of my favorites. Check JLO out back in action!

Romantic comedies for JLO are typically the movies that do well for her. I'm sure people will warm up to this one and refer to it as her romantic comedies in the past.

It has been sometime since we've heard from the woman who brought us soul stirring songs on her debut album "Soul Sista." The wait is nearly over however, as KeKe Wyatt has plans to start fresh in 2010 !

Announcing a new deal with Shanachie recently, home to Leela James, KeKe Wyatt is poised to release a new album as early as February 2010.

"We are extremely excited to be bringing out Keke’s new music," Shanachie general manager and head of A&R, Randall Grass said in a statement. "She is one of the outstanding singers of her generation and is recognized as a true singer. Keke achieved success at a young age and now she is poised for even greater success."

While Wyatt's music has stood the test of time, the singer tells Eurweb's Lee Bailey, her controversial, headline ridden marriage is nearly over. "Those 10 years are over. They’re over," Wyatt told Bailey when discussing a new record titled "Who Knew ?" and her marriage. "You go through so much as a woman and you can’t take too much of the hands on type of thing. I refuse to do it anymore and so I’m done. I’m done."

Moving forward, Wyatt looks forward to the release of her new album, also titled 'Who Knew?". Set for release February 23, 2010, the album is due to feature a mix of up-tempo and R&B ballads.

Music Feed: Songs About Boys & Girls!

I have done so many music feeds that I'm starting to forget what some of the previous ones were. I did a search on the word 'boy' before I did this but who knows. In songs there are many references to boys and girls; nasty, dirty, and freaky. Check out my list of songs about boys and girls!

Boys, Britney Spears
Britney Spears hooked up with The Neptunes for this cut off her 'In The Zone' album.

Dirty Girl, Latrelle
Many people probably aren't familiar with Latrelle. The singer was formerly signed to Arista Records during L.A. Reid's brief reign. 'Dirty Girl' was one of the many songs that leaked from her unreleased album, 'Dirty Girl...'.

Nasty Girl, Destiny's Child
Beyonce would later be criticized for this song when in 2003 she started appearing half dressed in her solo videos.

Girl, Destiny's Child
Once Destiny's Child reunited they sang about a 'girl' who needed plenty of guidance and moral support.

Mercedes Boy, Pebbles
A R&B classic in its own right. Pebbles was once married to L.A. Reid and discovered TLC. She eventually left the record business and is now an ordained minister.

Boy(I Need You), Mariah Carey featuring Cam'ron
Mariah Carey is not one to be outdone. You can expect her to always be on track with the current climate of music. When Cam'ron hit with 'Oh Boy', it was a monster hit and Mariah just had to go and make her own version over the same instrumental and this was the result.

Girls, Girls, Girls, Jay-Z
Jay-Z tapped into his old school soul for this quirky song that recalled the days of Biz Markie; who if I'm not mistaken appeared in this video and the song was modeled after.

Nasty Boy, Notorious B.I.G. featuring Nelly & Jagged Edge
Diddy compiled an album full of unreleased tracks from the late Notorious B.I.G. and added plenty of celebrity guests to it and this was one of the many tracks.

Album Spotlight: Sisqo - Unleash The Dragon

It's been awhile since we heard from Sisqo and if we have, I sure haven't heard anything. I know for awhile he was appearing on a few reality shows on VH1 and CMT. Before all that Sisqo broke free of Dru Hill and set out for a semi successful solo career with this debut album, 'Unleash The Dragon'. The album was led by the hit single, 'Thong Song' which became a phenomenon in itself. It really catapulted Sisqo to superstar status. This album brings back a lot of memories for me personally. I just remember me and my best friend at the time always listening to this. I remember him having a copy of the album first and I eventually got one. Those were good times. There is nothing like the good old days. One of my favorite songs was the steamy ballad, 'How Can I Love U 2Nite'. I also liked 'So Sexual' and 'Addicted'. If you don't remember this album, YouTube it, buy it, or dare I say...download it; on iTunes! Check out a few of the songs from this album!

It's Raining Cats & Dogs: Songs With 'Cat' & 'Dog' In The Title!

I'm constantly finding a set of songs that have something in common. I think it keeps my mind fresh and it just goes to show my knowledge of music. This time the words 'cat' and 'dog' are the subject here. Both words go hand in hand. They are opposite and they are often house pets. They can also be used to describe a variety of things; female genitalia, cheating men, and love. You will see all that here described in the songs below.

Check out my list of songs dedicated to cats and dogs!

Pussycat, Missy Elliott
This is one of the stand out songs from Missy Elliott's 'Under Construction' album and one of my personal favorites. Missy sings about the power to keep a man and hold him down by using what God gave her; her genitalia to be exact hence the title 'Pussycat'.

Pussycats, Mya
Mya made a fun song with 'Pussycats' and it is very catchy and one of my favorites from her 'Fear Of Flying' album. Actually as I type this up I am listening to the 'Fear Of Flying' album. Brings back a lot of memories.

Dog In Heat, Missy Elliott featuring Method Man & Redman
Missy Elliott knows how to do a collaboration and this one is no exception. Of course she has made many over the years but this one is one of her funkiest.

Puppy Love, Bow Wow
You know what? I have to be sure if this is the actual title of this song. There was a video of this with he and Solange running around and in 'puppy love'.

Walkin' The Dog, Karyn White
Remember Karyn White? Well if you don't you can always YouTube her! Back in the day Karyn White released a few albums and was once married to Terry Lewis(I believe) of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis fame. If she wasn't married to Terry it was Jimmy, but definitely one of them.

Kitty Kat, Beyonce
This is one of my favorite songs from Beyonce's 'B'Day' album and more so because it was produced by The Neptunes; who are my favorite! The little video for this is cute too but it never got the full video treatment. Shucks!

Music Biz:
Usher Named Artist Of The Decade!

Usher might have lost his reign over the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart to Trey Songz last week, but the Diamond-selling singer has earned another title. According to Billboard, the "Papers" singer is officially the Top Hot 100 artist of the decade !

With a stellar 13 consecutive top 20 singles, including seven which went to number one, Usher earns the title in company of Beyonce and Mariah Carey, who also fared well on the Hot 100 over the last ten years.

According to Billboard, Usher's seven number one singles collectively spent 41 weeks at the top of the chart -- the most weeks at number one for any act in the decade.

Among Usher's top Hot 100 singles are the 2004 hits "Yeah," "Burn," "Confessions" and "My Boo".

News In A Flash: T.I. Released From Jail?

What else is going on in the world of music? Well for starters there is a rumor going around that T.I. has been released early from prison.

So we all know that Kelly Rowland is working on a new album! When is she not though? Anyway Kelly is working with producer Rico Love[produced Pleasure P's 'Boyfriend #2''] who promises us many hits to come. Let's hope so. We all realize the star that Kelly is and can be.

Kelly Rowland's former band mate Beyonce is one of the first performers that has been added to the Grammy Awards telecast. Beyonce is nominated for 10 awards and the show will air early next year.

A contender for breakthrough artist of 2010 is Nicki Minaj. The rapper has done multiple collaborations over the last few months and in 2010 she will be or have collaborated with everyone from The Game to Robin Thicke['Shakin' It For Daddy']. Nicki Minaj is definitely an artist to watch in 2010. Mark my words!

One of the first singles from Monica's new album, 'Still Standing' has leaked; 'One In A Lifetime' has leaked out[again] this time in single and remastered form. I don't care much for the song but much success to her. She will need it! Hopefully Monica can win me over with 'Love Me All Over'; the other single being promoted alongside 'One...'.

Khia Has Her Own Reality Show!

Khia refuses to sit back and fade into oblivion. Though she is technically an one hit wonder thanks in part to 'My Neck My Back', she still puts out music regularly and conjures up enough personality to warrant her own reality show.

I'm all about being honest with you; the readers. I don't always know everything and if I don't know, I will tell you flat out. I don't know if this reality show is new or old. Judging by the quality it could air on BET! We will see in time huh?

Jaheim Returns With New Album!

UrbanBridgez.com has exclusively learned the title to the new release by R&B crooner Jaheim. On February 9th, 2010 “ANOTHER ROUND” will be released to retail & online.

The album includes production by Balewa Muhammaed, Clifton Lighty, Kaygee, J.R. Rotem, Mamas Boys, Harold Lily and Chuck Harmony.

The first single “Ain’t Leavin Without You,” is already a hit on radio. Jaheim was recently the headliner artist on AT&T Mobile (R&B genre).

No tracklisting has been confirmed.
Kid Cudi Named Top Rapper!
Weeks after being nominated for three Grammy Awards, Entertainment Weekly has named The Man on the Moon: The End of Day, Kid Cudi’s concept-driven Universal debut, the best Hip-Hop Album of 2009.

Led by the breakout hit, “Day ’N’ Night,” the dark, concept album sold an impressive 103,900 copies in its first week on shelves.

EW also named the G.O.O.D. music artist as one of the five “Breakout Stars”of the year. Songstress Keri Hilson and fellow Universal rapper Drake were also among the acts named on the list.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ chart-topping New York anthem “Empire State of Mind” was named Best Single of ‘09.

Mr. & Mrs: Songs With Professional Titles

Do you actually know the difference between titles such as Ms., Mrs. and Miss? Well I learned some things about those titles many years ago. Just to refresh my knowledge, I went to wikipedia to look up some things.

The songs below all represent professional titles whether it be Mr., Mister, or Mrs. I can't remember if I might of messed up on some of the 'mr.' or mrs.' usage in the title; meaning I'm not sure if its correct or not or how its spelled in the song.

Anyway check out the list of songs I compiled that refer to professional titles that we use every now and then!

Miss Independent, Kelly Clarkson
This was the debut single from Kelly Clarkson's debut album, 'Thankful' which was written by and originally for Christina Aguilera who passed on it.

Ms. Officer, Lil' Wayne featuring Bobby Valentino
One of my favorite singles from Lil' Wayne's 'The Carter 3' album.

Mr. Cool, Tamia featuring Mario Winans
This is another song I really like from Tamia's 'More' album. The song is produced by and features vocals from Mario Winans; who at the time was at the peak of his own solo career.

Me & Mrs. Jones, Billy Paul
This song goes down as a classic in R&B music. If you don't know it, YouTube it!

Ms. Parker, Young Money
One of the newest songs on this tally! The song is taken from the debut album by Young Money called, 'We Are Young Money' and is one of my favorite songs from that album.

Yo Mister, Patti LaBelle
Patti LaBelle hooked up with Prince on this song and from listening to it, you can tell it has all the makings of Prince. It is a song that I really like though and it has a strong message behind it.

Ms. New Booty, Mos Def
Mos Def is very underrated but he does manage to have a few songs or albums that get attention and 'Ms. New Booty' is one of them.

Of course I could be sitting here all night thinking of other songs with 'ms.' or 'mr.' but these are the songs that came to my head immediately. Hope you found this interesting. Believe me there will be more to come

Toni Braxton Speaks On New Album!

So many songs have leaked by Toni Braxton in recent months. I have been fortunate not to spoil myself with the leaks so I can be surprised once the final product arrives in stores in either February or March.

In this video Toni talks about her new album, her health scare, Las Vegas, and more. Check it out!

There is not a Toni Braxton album that I don't like or don't have and Toni has always been consistent with albums and I hope she keeps her track record clean!

Throwback Video: Ne-Yo - Do You

'Do You' isn't a true throwback but its old enough to warrant as a throwback video. Released in 2007 but I swear it was 2006, this was one of my favorite songs from the 'Because Of You' album. Check out the video!

I'm not sure if Ne-Yo is working on a new album but more than likely he is. Ne-Yo worked with Monica on her newest album, 'Still Standing' on the song 'Stay Or Go' which was also recorded by another singer named Tynisha Keli.

Alicia Keys Graces Final Cover of Giant Magazine!

2009 was a year where we saw a lot of magazine publications fold. Actually the latter half of 2008 also saw quite a few magazines fold. Some of them like Vibe was resurrected while others found new life as online publications. Maybe Giant can redeem itself eventually. I can't say I ever read a Giant magazine but it seems like they always do pretty decent covers and stories.

If you didn't know Alicia Keys just released her newest album, 'The Element Of Freedom' and the album was said to debut with around 400K units. The official numbers will be out later this week. Congrats Alicia!

News In A Flash: Rihanna Chooses New Single!

Rihanna's next UK single is 'Rudeboy' from her 'Rated R' album! I haven't heard Rihanna's album and I didn't have much of an interest in it. Someone told me it was pretty good to them but that's all I heard about it.

Que of Day 26 is no longer with the group. Apparently he had been kicked out by the other members. If you followed the 'Making The Band' series especially of this year you will see a lot of turmoil they had. Que felt alienated a lot of the times since a lot of his vision went unnoticed. I was starting to think the guy was on drugs or something. I'm not sure if their adding a new member or just remaining a quartet. I say remain a quartet because you will be splitting the money four ways instead of five.

Speaking of groups and members, Kelly Rowland will be collaborating again with Nelly for a new track to appear on her new album due 2010. If you recall the two hooked up for the song, 'Dilemma' a few years back. And we all thought they made a cute couple and more so because of their names. Maybe the fireworks will really jump off now. I don't think Nelly and Ashanti are together anymore. We never see them out together anymore. I know both are in between albums so we won't see them much but still.

A former associate of Kelly Rowland; LeToya will release 'Good To Me' as her newest single from her 'Lady Love' album. LeToya had a hit with 'Regret' even though her label Capitol Records didn't promote it. To be honest Capitol really didn't promote the album at all. LeToya had two hit singles from this album so far; 'Not Anymore' and 'Regret'. Let's see what 'Good To Me' will do.

Michael Jackson FBI Files To Be Revealed!

Like Elvis Presley before him, Michael Jackson's legacy and memory will forever live on. We will always hear another erroneous story or yet another interesting chapter in his life be revealed. Read below for the latest shocker in the Michael Jackson saga!

The Federal Bureau of Investigation will release 333 pages of Michael Jackson's formerly-classified file on Monday morning. Can we interest you in a little light reading?

The documents will relate to his 1993 and 2004 child molestation cases -- as well as any case Michael Jackson was the victim of ... including threats and extortion attempts. Nothing about Dr. Conrad Murray or Michael's death will be in the files.

Our guess -- the extortion attempts will be the most interesting.

The FBI did a similar thing back in October concerning files involving Anna Nicole Smith and a possible plot to kill the son of her 89-year-old
Lil' Wayne Not In Trouble For Drug Bust?
Looks Lil' Wayne will walk away from yesterday's drug bust in Texas unscathed, at least according to his lawyer.

Lil' Wayne, along with 11 other people, was detained yesterday in Falfurrias, Tex. by the United States Border Patrol after marijuana was discovered on board his tour bus.

The Border Patrol says Wayne and the others were questioned and charges are pending. His lawyer tells TMZ that while some people did receive citations, Lil' Wayne was not one of them.

Lil' pled guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon stemming from a 2007 traffic stop of his tour bus. He is set to spend a year in jail and will appear for sentencing in February 2010.

UPDATE -- The Laredo Entertainment Center, where Lil' Wayne was supposed to perform last night but didn't, tells TMZ he will perform there tonight to make up for the canceled show.

Change Clothes & Go: Songs About Clothes

As you will see in the songs listed below all have one thing in common; they all deal with some sort of clothing. It is amazing how much certain songs have in common. Better yet it is interesting how these singers and songwriters come up with these songs. Check out the list of songs I came up with that pay homage to clothing!

Change Clothes, Jay-Z featuring Pharrell
Remember this video? Models were walking down the runway and Naomi Campbell had a cameo.

Hoodie, Omarion
This is the newest song of the bunch. This is the second single from Omarion's upcoming album, 'Ollusion' in stores early next year.

Blue High Heels, Ray J
Ray J was quoted saying that this song was dedicated to Halle Berry.

T-Shirt & Panties, Adina Howard featuring Jamie Foxx
I don't recall if this song was ever meant to be a single. I think it just caught up and now it is a classic.

No Panties, Trina featuring Tweet
Do you all remember this song? This was the first single from Trina's 'Diamond Princess' album.

No Panties, Haitian Fresh featuring Pleasure P
I'm not sure how many of you all are familiar with this song. It leaked out sometime last year and it is actually very catchy and a personal favorite of mine.

Robin Thicke, Jay-Z Behind The Scenes In Studio!

Jay-Z is one of the many artists that appear on Robin Thicke's new album, 'Sex Therapy' and you get the see the two artists work on a track. Check it out!

I haven't really been into Robin Thicke as much but I do like 'Shakin It For Daddy' but I think I like more cause Nicki Minaj is on there. 'Sex Therapy' is a cool song but I can't get into it like that but the remix with Ludacris is hot!

Mariah Carey 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' Video!

Just in time for the holidays is Mariah Carey's 'All I Want...' which has become a classic in its own right. The song has been the top selling Christmas ringtone for the last three years. The song was originally released in 1994 and is from Mariah Carey's 'Merry Christmas' album. Check it out!

2009 Recap: The Year Of...

Hello all! It's been awhile since I did my last recap but this one popped in my head while I was in bed. Now as I formally put all the thoughts that were in my head to this post editor, I know I am a forgetting a few key things. Typical of me!

2009 is truly coming to an end cause next week is Christmas and it didn't take long for that to get here. You are seeing plenty of year end lists and I have had my share and I'm clearly not finished but below is my latest one. It is simply a list of what we saw in 2009 and who or what dominated. Check it out!

Beyonce
Beyonce continued her reign all throughout 2009. There were hit singles('Halo', 'Sweet Dreams'), hit DVDs, and plenty of re-releases of 'I Am...Sasha Fierce'. There was the ABC Thanksgiving special. There were numerous endorsements and so forth.

Money
This year we were introduced to three groups who all had 'money' in their name. First up was Young Money; a group masterminded by Lil' Wayne. The group was brewing in 2008 but received a lot of attention this year. Their single, 'Every Girl' is one of the biggest singles this year and one of my personal favorites. Every time that song came on I got excited! Their debut album, 'We Are Young Money' wouldn't be released until the end of the year.

Lil' Wayne's ex-squeeze; Trina formed her own group; Pretty Money. The group was comprised of three female rappers. A few songs leaked out from the group and one featured Trina called, 'Crazy' which was a really good song.

Not one to be outdone, Diddy introduced us to Dirty Money. The group consisted of him, Dawn[formerly of Danity Kane] and another girl who's name I can't remember right now. But she looks like a cross between Gina Thompson(remember her?) and Missy Elliott.

Male R&B Singers
2009 was truly the year of male R&B singers. The men actually outdid the women this year as we got more albums from men this year. We saw the return of Maxwell! We got huge hit singles from Pleasure P, Mario, Trey Songz, R. Kelly, Ginuwine, and Joe. Maybe the females can reign next year or maybe the men will dominate again!

Alicia Keys & Swizz Beats step out and party it up in celebration of Alicia Keys' new album release, 'The Element Of Freedom'. Never before have I seen these two on camera interacting the way they are. They look like they are having a good time and enjoying each other.

It's sad because due to this relationship with Swizz Beats, it has tarnished Alicia's image a little bit. Her new album is expected to sell around 300-350 units in its first week. It is a far cry from her 700K she did a few years ago.

Mary J. Blige Performs 'I Am' On Jimmy Kimmel!

Mary J. Blige appeared on 'The Jimmy Kimmel Show' a few nights ago to perform her latest single. Check it out!

Meanwhile you can check out Mary's new album, 'Stronger With Each Tear' in stores December 21 or 22. I say that because I always see those dates when any advertisement is mentioned. Also with the holidays I think some albums are appearing in stores early to reap from the holiday sales.

As we know Mary's last three albums have been released in December. I want Mary to try and not release an album in December for a change. I can't fault her for why she does it cause it does work.

Omarion Releases 'Hoodie' Video!

'Hoodie' is the second single from Omarion's 'Ollusion' album in stores early 2010. The song impacts radio January 11. I'm not feeling the song and I didn't watch much of the video.

What You Might Of Missed!

Young Money comprised of Lil' Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake appeared on 'The Mo'Nique Show' last night and introduced the world to....Young Money. The group also performed 'Bedrock' and speaking of Young Money, their debut album, 'We Are Young Money' leaked out yesterday! I'm actually listening to it right now as we speak. I don't know how I feel about it right now even though I'm about five songs deep. Might be a grower!

In other Lil' Wayne news while on the Young Money tour bus, the bus was pulled over and the police found weed and the whole Young Money crew were detained. I read everything is good now though but for a moment there were reports that Lil' Wayne was definitely going to jail!

Mary J. Blige will release 'Kitchen' as her next single off her new album, 'I Am' which is in stores December 22 and that album just leaked a few days ago and while it is a decent album; it is not one I'm immediately eager to hear again.

Toni Braxton's new album, 'Pulse' has been pushed back to March 2. This isn't surprising since 'Yesterday Remix' featuring Trey Songz didn't do much at all. Toni has had a lot of songs leak over the last few months. I just don't like to spoil myself anymore when it comes to all these song leaks. All the leaked songs(for the most part) be the songs that end up on the album. Then once I get the album I will be tired of it so fast from having all the songs months ago. I learned my lesson awhile ago with that!

Monica has had a hard time finding a lead single for her upcoming album, 'Still Standing'. Monica has been so careful not to mess up this time after 'The Makings Of Me' had a bad reception. The album wasn't bad but I didn't like 'Everytime The Beat Drops'. Anyway Monica has chosen to roll with two singles to lead off her album; the previously leaked, 'On[c]e In A Lifetime' and 'Love Me All Over'. Monica's album should be out in the next couple of months...hopefully! She is definitely long overdue but you can't be mad at her for making sure we get a quality album. Especially after all this time this better be good!

Trey Songz Starts Work On New Album!

I will say I am surprised at Trey following up to 'Ready' so soon but like the article below entails, he wants to strike while the iron is hot. Nothing wrong with that right? I think he is becoming slightly overexposed though in my opinion.

In other Trey Songz news his single, 'I Invented Sex' featuring Drake is currently #1 on the R&B charts!

After a successful third album Trey Songz is planning to strike whilst the iron’s still hot by rush releasing the follow-up to Ready, and he’ll be enlisting the usual suspects like Pharrell, Timbaland and B-Cox to lend him a helping hand.

“I’m trying to make sure I have an album out ASAP,” he said. “I ain’t gonna tell you how soon, though. It’s not gonna be two years. I wanna use the same recipe I’ve been using. If anybody is added, it’ll be for real purpose. I spoke to Pharrell. I told him I’m getting in, Timbaland as well — both huge Virginian-grown producers. I definitely would love to work with them. But Troy Taylor I’ve been working with since the beginning of my career. Plus Bryan-Michael Cox I’ve had a couple hits with. I definitely wanna make sure we use the same chemistry.”

“I look to make more music that’s within the realm of Ready and even grow further.”
I am interested in hearing the songs with Pharrell though. I love me some Neptunes!

Mariah Carey Plans Remix Album!
Mariah's Remix Album Drops Feb. 23!

Mariah's new, as yet-untitled Remix album is set for release on Tuesday, February 23, 2010.

We have previously confirmed collaborations with Ne-Yo ("Angels Cry" Remix) and Nicki Minaj ("Up Out My Face" Remix), and now, we can also reveal that other artists such as Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, R. Kelly, K-Ci & JoJo, Big Boi, Trey Songz and Fabolous will all be featured in the new Remix album.

We are told by label insiders that this album will be treated like a brand new project including promotional appearances. Mariah is scheduled to film her appearance on VH1 Storytellers in early January and the album's title and final track listing are expected to be announced next week.
For the last few months all I have read about is this remix album. 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel' didn't get this much press. I just know this remix album better be good.

Mariah performed one of my favorite songs from 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel'; 'It's A Wrap' and she sang it live. She's actually been singing live a lot lately which is good. There was never really a reason why she can't sing live unless her voice is shot. Enjoy!

The Game Collaborates With The Neptunes For New Album!

This is new news to some people and maybe old to others. I actually reported this news awhile back if I'm not mistaken. As a matter of fact I did. Anyway I first heard the news from a friend.

Music Biz:
Beyonce Creates New Perfume!

Beyoncé Knowles is aiming to light a much-needed fire under the beleaguered fragrance business this February with her first scent, Beyoncé Heat. Industry sources estimate it could do $100 million at retail globally in its first year on counter. At least half of that figure is expected to come from U.S. Sales.

And the entertainer — who is up for 10 Grammys on Jan. 31 — is more than up for the challenge. She can’t wait to get her scent into the hands of her fans.

“I’m so happy with it,” she said during an exclusive interview with WWD. “I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it!” said Knowles with a laugh.

Erykah Badu Talks About Her New Album!

Erykah's new album is supposed to be in stores in February 2010 but we will see. We all know how quick release dates get changed.

Music Biz:
Lil' Wayne's 'Rebirth' Accidentally Shipped!

Lil Wayne fans who pre-ordered Rebirth are getting an early Christmas gift. Although the album has been delayed until 2010, it showed up in the mailbox of about 500 Amazon customers this week.

According to Billboard, the online retailer shipped copies of Wayne’s rock album to some customers who pre-ordered it. The album began arriving on Monday, December 14.

Around one million units were reportedly manufactured and about one-third were already shipped to retailers when the decision was made to delay Rebirth. The album has been pushed back from December 21 to February 1 to allow for a proper set-up. Sources tell Billboard that Wayne may change the final tracklisting due to the leak.

Some songs from the oft-delayed project have already hit the net including “On Fire,” “Da Da Da,” and the Eminem collaboration “Drop the World.”

Rihanna, Young Jeezy Go 'Hard' In New Video Clip!

Alicia Keys Gives 'Un-Thinkable' Performance on 106 & Park!

Alicia Keys just released her new album, 'The Element Of Freedom' and early reports are saying she may do anywhere from 300-350K units. It is a far cry from the 700K plus she did with 'As I Am' but then again things were different for Alicia Keys.

The last few months Alicia's reputation has been tampered after her relationship wit Swizz Beats and the circumstances of which lead to it. Her two singles, 'Doesn't Mean Anything' and 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' haven't performed well on the charts.

The Joys Of Sex

Music feeds, as I like to call them have become a big part of this blog. I just think they are fun and amusing and may be to some people they are just plain corny but who cares what they think? Ha!

The songs listed below all feature 'sex' in the title. Of course there are tons of songs with the word sex but here are a few. Some you may know and some you may not.

Sex With You, Marques Houston
This was one of my favorite songs from Marques' 'Naked' album and of course with an album title such as 'Naked' you will have songs that deal with sex.

S.E.X., Ginuwine featuring Sole
I don't know this song personally but I remembered the title enough to include it here.

S.E.X., Lyfe
Lyfe always has a message in his songs. You ever notice that? And S.E.X. is no exception!

I Wanna Sex You Up, Color Me Badd
This song brings back a lot of memories. It is a song I heard while growing up and it was from the 'New Jack City' soundtrack. Whatever became of Color Me Badd? Hmmm

Sex Me, R. Kelly
This song was the beginning of many sexual songs to come from the pied piper himself.

Birthday Sex, Jeremih
This was one of 2009's most popular songs and many references are made referring to 'birthday sex'.
