Throwback Video: Jodeci - Stay

I remember my sister used to play this song before she would go to school. I didn't understand why except for the fact that she liked the song a whole bunch. It is one of my favorite songs from Jodeci. ---------------- Now playing: Pleasure P - 11 - Pleasure P - Illusion via FoxyTunes

Rihanna Performs On Saturday Night Live!

Nicki Minaj Speaks On Working With Jay-Z!

Every artist has an artist they would really like to work with and for Nicki Minaj; it was for Jay-Z. The rapper finally got her wish on "Monster" which will appear on Kanye Wests' new album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" in stores and online November 22. However the rapper thought by the time she blew up, Jay-Z would of been long gone and retired. Well thankfully for her; he has not and probably won't anytime soon. Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" will be in stores and online November 22. In other Nicki Minaj news, her collaboration featuring Eminem, "Roman's Revenge" leaked late Saturday night and was a trending topic of twitter. The song features both Nicki and Em trading some not so subtle disses to their adversaries. As usual Nicki goes in and after hearing this, I'm a lot more interested in her album now. Kid Cudi is getting ready to release his new album, "The Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager" in s

Bow Wow Featuring Chris Brown - Ain't Thinking About You - Video

Bow Wow is back again with Chris Brown for his newest single and video. I'm not sure the title of the new Bow Wow album but whatever it is; he's pretty up there now on albums. I'm not really feeling the song but maybe it might grow on me. Happy Halloween everyone! ---------------- Now playing: Barry White - I've Got So Much To Give via FoxyTunes

Album Spotlight: Nivea - Complicated

Image
| Nivea released her second album on the Jive label, "Complicated" in 2005. The album's first and only single, "Okay" was a hit and produced by Lil' Jon. A then unknown The-Dream produced the majority of Nivea's album alongside herself. At one point The-Dream and Nivea were married which at this point is common knowledge. The album has a lot of good songs that could of been potential singles had Jive not dropped the ball. The second single was supposed to be "Parking Lot" produced by Jermaine Dupri but it never came to friction. There is also the excellent title track produced and written by The-Dream and Nivea. R. Kelly shows up and produces the track, "Gangsta Girl" which is typical R. Kelly; and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some of my favorite songs are the title track, "I Can't Mess With You", "Quickie", "Indian Dance", and many more. In recent years Nivea has continued expanding her f

Throwback Video: Janet Jackson - I Want You

"I Want You" was the first official single from Janet's 2004 album, "Damita Jo". The song was produced by Kanye West. I can't believe its been six years. Time sure does fly by. Catch Janet on the big screen in Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls" in theaters November 5. It looks really good too. ---------------- Now playing: Marques Houston - Mess via FoxyTunes

Kelis Models For Italian Vogue!

Check out Kelis as she struts her stuff for a spread in Italian Vogue magazine. I was just thinking I hope Kelis can deliver another album like "Kelis Was Here" or "Tasty". I really didn't like "Flesh Tone" at all. ---------------- Now playing: Jeremih - Broken Down via FoxyTunes

Diamond's Car Gets Repo'd At Video Shoot!

Female rapper Diamond gets embarrassed when her car gets repossessed at a video shoot. So much for having a "Lotta Money"; by the way that's the title of her debut single from her upcoming solo album. Music Biz: Tiny Gets Charged! The L.A. County District Attorney plans to charge T.I.'s wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle with possession of the drug Ecstasy! Though the D.A. has decided not to prosecute T.I. for charges stemming from the L.A. arrest incident, his wife was not so lucky. TMZ reports that Tiny will be charged with possession of the drug ecstasy. And if convicted, she could face up to a year in prison. Nicki Minaj Unveils Debut Album Tracklisting! Now below is a the supposed tracklisting for the new Nicki Minaj album but now I read that there are 16 tracks but this is what has leaked so far. When the other songs become available, I will do a repost. Young Money's first lady reveals tracks to her debut album, which includes features from both

Mariah Carey Announces Pregnancy!

Mariah Carey finally announced that she is pregnant! The singer is due this Spring. The sex of the baby is unknown and she will keep herself in suspense until the birth. Mariah also revealed that she suffered a miscarriage two years ago after her and Nick Cannon wed. With Mariah Carey's new album, "Merry Christmas II You" in stores and online November 2, Mariah will be doing tons of press on "Ellen", "Oprah", and "The View". I'm happy for Mariah and I'm glad she has finally confirmed what everyone knew for awhile. I'm sure everyone(who cares anyway) is wondering what guest appearances will be featured on the debut album from Nicki Minaj. Well two collaborations to look forward to is one with Eminem entitled, "Roman's Revenge" and a song with Drake which Nicki has stated as "one of her favorites". I know everyone is waiting on pins and needles to see how this album is going to turn out and I am one of those

Kandi - Leave You - Video

I think I remember Kandi previewing this song on "The Real Housewives Of Atlanta". I like Kandi and all; I do but I can't get into her music. I did like the song she sung on "Housewives" though but I forget the name of it though. ---------------- Now playing: Trina - Look Back At It (Feat. Killer Mike) via FoxyTunes

Ray Kay Speaks On Willow Smith's Rise To Fame!

Image
Acclaimed video director Ray Kay has spoken out on Willow Smith and her star turn in her new single and video for "Whip My Hair". The song has caused quite the stir online and has been virtually inescapable since its debut. Check out what Ray Kay had to say below as well as a pic of Ray Kay and Willow Smith on set of the "Whip My Hair" video. “I’m so excited to see all the buzz about this video on the web. Willow really deserves this, she’s a superstar already. The video will surely be considered a classic a few years from now. I think we managed to create a fresh expression using Willow’s amazing energy, a positive and inspiring concept, and mixing the colors of the sets with Willow’s fashion, which consisted of custom-made clothing and exclusive One Z jumpsuits from California Christiania Republic. She’s a trendsetter already and I’m sure others will be copying her style soon!” ---------------- Now playing: SadĆ© - Soldier Of Love via FoxyTunes

Nelly Featuring Akon & T-Pain - Move That Body - Video

With Nelly's "Just A Dream" being a huge hit, he is keeping the momentum going with his new video and single, "Move That Body". The song is just okay to me and the video is average. Akon & T-Pain are still at the top of the list of collaborators I see and this definitely isn't their best collaborative effort. Nelly's new album, "5.0" will be in stores and online on November 16. ---------------- Now playing: Ne-Yo - Makin' A Movie via FoxyTunes

Nicki Minaj - Right Thru Me - Video

Nicki Minaj has finally released the video to new single, "Right Thru Me" and I like the video overall. You get to see some of Nicki's acting chops in the opening clip. Remember "Pink Friday", Nicki's debut album will be in stores and online on November 23. Music Biz: Nicki Minaj's Debut Album Cover Explained! As one of the music industry's most polarizing artists, it's only right Nicki Minaj have an unorthodox album cover to match a kooky image. Fans and critics were left both impressed and confused after viewing the 25-year-old's femcee's album art for Pink Friday last Monday. Taking a minimalist approach, Minaj looked like a Tim Burton special, flaunting spider-like stems, mime expression, and... no arms. "[Nicki] wanted to rip her arms off to really do the whole Barbie theme, like when little girls trash their dolls," says photographer GL Wood. "She wanted to look like one of those broken Barbies." Kanye West Changes New Album Cover!

Image
According to Kanye West, his original cover for his newest album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" was banned now check out the newest one. The cover you see here was originally for his "Runaway" single. Below you can see the new and improved tracklisting but then again I believe I posted this awhile back. The single, "See Me Now" featuring Beyonce & Charlie Wilson is now an iTunes bonus track and that sucks because I really like that song. 01. Dark Fantasy 02. Gorgeous (feat. Raekwon & KiD CuDi) 03. Power 04. All Of The Lights 05. Monster (feat. Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver) 06. So Appalled (feat. Jay-Z, Pusha T, CyHi Da Prynce, Swizz Beatz & RZA) 07. Devil In a New Dress 08. Throwback Video: Lisa Stansfield - Never Never Gonna Give You Up

Lisa Stansfield has often sighted the late Barry White as one of her inspirations. So it was no surprised when she covered his song. The singer would eventually duet with Barry. Lisa went all out for the video appearing naked or at least giving us the allusion that's she naked. For all we know she might have pasties covering her nipples and undergarment on that we just can't see or aren't meant to see. Of course its odd how Lisa eventually grabs(steals) a shirt outside and puts it on only to take it off. ---------------- Now playing: Lisa Stansfield - "Never Never Gonna Give You Up" via FoxyTunes

Brandy Speaks On Her Sex Life!

I been reading about how Brandy has said she's been celibate for six years but I think myself and most people find that pretty hard to believe. We all know she hasn't had the best luck in love but who knows. Brandy is doing pretty good on "Dancing With The Stars" from what I know and heard. I don't watch it though. I could never get into the show personally. I'm not sure when the new season of "Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business" will return. I guess maybe once "Dancing With The Stars" wraps VH1 will air the new season. Kanye West wants to tour with Jay-Z and Lil' Wayne. If he gets his wish; he'll add Nicki Minaj and Kid Cudi to the list. Sounds pretty interesting right? Stay tuned. This may actually happen. Meanwhile look for Kanye Wests' new album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" in stores and online November 22. A lot of the songs so far have leaked and I've been privy not to hear most of them. I've b

Plies - Me Ho - Video

Plies delivers his latest offering via his latest mixtape which I can't remember the name of. The song is typical Plies which is neither good or bad but what we've come to expect from him over the years. ---------------- Now playing: Fantasia - Who's Been Lovin' You (Produced By LOS Da Mystro) via FoxyTunes

Marsha Ambrosius Unveils New Album Cover!

Image
| So its been awhile since this album cover first leaked but I'm just now finding a suitable link to post it here on the blog. Originally scheduled to be released this month, Marsha Ambrosius debut solo album "Late Nights, Early Mornings" will now be in stores and online on January 4, 2011. Don't ask me why! The first single, "Hope She Cheats On You" is doing really well. It took a while for the song to grow on me but I like it a lot now and I'm looking forward to the album whenever it arrives. ---------------- Now playing: Big Boi - Shutterbug Ft. Cutty (Produced By Scott Storch Co-Produced By Big Boi) via FoxyTunes

Cee-Lo Unveils New Album Cover!

Image
| So you probably heard of haven't heard the new single from Cee-Lo, "Fuck You(Forget You)" which is already a huge hit. The video on YouTube became a viral sensation causing the label to rush release the new single. Cee-Lo's new album, his first in six years, "Lady Killer" will be in stores and online on November 9. The album features production from Jack Splash(produced for Solange) and Salaam Remi(produced for Faith Evans). ---------------- Now playing: Kanye West & Jay-Z (ft. Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver) - Monstar via FoxyTunes

Producer Spotlight: Tim & Bob

There's Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Andre & Vidal, and then there's Tim & Bob. I would say out of the three, Tim & Bob are the most underrated. The production duo has produced many a hits over the years. I learned quite a bit of info on the duo and its definitely too much to list. Summing it up though they are Grammy winners who have produced on some of R&B's biggest albums. They have rubbed shoulders with everyone from Papa Roach to Dallas Austin to Athena Cage to Pebbles. Check out some of their productions below: They Don't Know, Jon B. So Into You, Tamia Take Care Of Home, Dave Hollister Thong Song, Sisqo Slow Down, Tell Me - Bobby V. Used To Be My Girl, Brian McKnight I, Love, Jennifer Lopez I'm Gonna Be, Donell Jones Life Is Good, Jamie Foxx Think Of Me, Day 26 Missing You, Case ---------------- Now playing: Sam Sparro - Can't Stop This via FoxyTunes

Album Spotlight: Case - Case

Image
| Case released his self-titled debut on Def Jam in 1996. The album featured the hit single, "Touch Me Tease Me" featuring Foxy Brown & Mary J. Blige. The song also features "More To Love" which was co-written by former girlfriend Mary J. Blige. The album features a strong Hip-Hop soul vibe which makes a lot of sense since he is signed to Def Jam. This album recalls early Mary J. Blige or Faith Evans. I remember when I owned the cassette of this and my father and sister were visiting in town. I end up leaving the cassette in his car and they went back to Wisconsin. I don't recall ever getting it back and by that time I probably didn't care. The album is very good though and its worth checking out. Some of my favorite songs are "Don't Be Afraid", "I Gotcha", "More To Love", and "Touch Me Tease Me". ---------------- Now playing: Rick James & Smokey Robinson - Ebony Eyes via FoxyTunes

Throwback Video: Case - Happily Ever After

Most people probably remember this video because Beyonce played Cases' love interest. And this was clearly before Beyonce was the superstar she is know. We probably wouldn't see her doing this now unless the person is of a Jay-Z or Kanye West caliber which is understandable. ---------------- Now playing: Case - Happily Ever After via FoxyTunes

Chris Brown Unveils New Single Cover!

Image
After the success of "Dueces" Chris Brown launches his latest single, "Yeah 3x" and its more in the vein of his former hit, "Forever" if you can remember that. From what I heard, I wasn't a big fan of the song but Chris is hot again and radio will more than likely embrace this. Chris is working on an upcoming album and featured on many new singles out including T.I.'s "Get Back Up"(which you can view that single cover below) as well as Twista's "Make A Movie" which is one of my favorite songs right now. ---------------- Now playing: Elton John - Bennie And The Jets via FoxyTunes

T.I. Unveils New Single Cover!

Image
While his new album, "King Uncaged" may be on hold that is not stopping T.I. from releasing singles. His latest single pairs him up with the infamous Chris Brown, "Get Back Up" which was produced by The Neptunes. I haven't even heard the song yet but I heard it is pretty hot so after this I need to be hearing it. Plus I'm a big fan of The Neptunes so that makes listening to this an even bigger treat. ---------------- Now playing: Janet Jackson - China Love via FoxyTunes

T.I. Arrest Charges Dropped!

Image
Remember when T.I. and Tiny got arrested last month? Well it was certainly a surprise and it made me ask the question; "Why is T.I. always getting arrested?". Well read up on the latest on T.I. and his arrest as well as Mariah Carey's promo schedule for her Christmas album and Rihanna's new album tracklisting! Prosecutors dropped drug charges against rapper T.I. related to his arrest in West Hollywood, California, last month, the Los Angeles district attorney's office said. T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, and his wife, "Tiny" Tameka Cottle, were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on Sunset Boulevard in September. The arrest and a failed drug test the next day resulted in a federal judge in Georgia ordering the rapper back to prison for 11 months for violating his probation from a weapons conviction. Harris. 29, must turn himself in next week to begin serving his prison term next week. Defense lawyer Steve Sadow told CNN the de

Album Spotlight: Whitney Houston - My Love Is Your Love

Image
| When Whitney Houston released "My Love Is Your Love", it was her first full length album in over eight years. Of course she released several hit soundtracks but they were being ignored since those were centered around movies. The album was said to be completed in a few weeks time but you couldn't tell by listening to the album. It is very hip and pairs Whitney with producers such as Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, and Babyface. The album's first single, "When You Believe" was a duet with Mariah Carey which also appeared on Mariah's "#1's" album and "The Prince Of Egypt" soundtrack. The second single was "It's Not Right But Its Okay" followed by "Heartbreak Hotel" featuring Faith Evans & Kelly Price. Next came the title track and lastly "I Learned From The Best" which was produced by Diane Warren. Some of my favorites are "If I Told You That", "Oh Yes", and "

Throwback Video: Paula Abdul & Janet Jackson Rehearse For Video!

Chrisette Michele Unveils New Album Cover!

Chrisette Michele is back merely a year after her last album, "Epiphany" was released with "Let Freedom Reign" due in stores and online November 30. The album is led by the first single, "I'm A Star". The album features backing vocals from Jazmine Sullivan and Ne-Yo. Chuck Harmony; who was responsible for the production on the last album is the main producer of the new album. I know I put my friend up on Chrisette Michele's last album and she really took to it. I think she started to like it a little more than I did. Music Biz: Cassidy, Swizz Beats Sued Over Hit Song! Cassidy Unveils New Album Cover!

Cassidy will release his new album, "C.A.S.H." on November 16. The album features the first single, "Drumma Bass". Christian Keyes - Cook My Dinner Naked - Video

When I saw that enormous tattoo on Christian Keyes' chest, I knew I recognized him from somewhere but I just couldn't put my finger on it. I still can't. I believe he is a model though and I've probably seen him in a few ads. Music Biz: Kid Cudi Unveils New Album Tracklisting! Lloyd - Lay It Down - Video

"Lay It Down" is one of my favorite songs out right now and it was produced by Polow Da Don. The song samples Patti LaBelle's "If You Only Knew". Lloyd's album "King Of Hearts" will be out soon. I'm not sure of a release date just yet. Music Biz: Donell Jones Speaks On New Album! R&B crooner Donell Jones, who is currently on a promotional tour supporting his recent release ‘Lyrics,’ is excited to be holding his own with a new generation of music lovers who appreciate real music. 'Lyrics' peaked at number #28 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart and "Love Like This" is currently #5 with a bullet on the Urban AC Radio charts. Despite a 3 year absence from recording, Jones is right back where he wants to be, on the airwaves sharing his music with his fans. “There are a few artists out there I really like that are doing their thing,” Jones states in a release to Singersroom. “To me, there’s too many people trying to be R

Album Spotlight: Mariah Carey - Charmbracelet

Image
| Mariah Carey's "Charmbracelet" was released in 2003. It was her debut under the Island Def Jam label. The album didn't have any major hit singles but the album still went platinum. Prior to this release Mariah released the ill-fated, "Glitter" album so the response to "Charmbracelet" was met with some skepticism but it is a good album. I would say its a little underrated. I think one of the annoying factors for some is that she's not really belting any songs here; she's cooing more, she's softer, and more subtle. The album's first single was "Through The Rain" followed by "Oh Boy(I Need You)" featuring Cam'ron, and "Bringing On The Heartbreak". There are some hidden gems on the album such as "Lullaby", "Clown", "Subtle Invitation" and my absolute favorite, "Irresistible". ---------------- Now playing: Prince - Scandalous via FoxyTunes

Producer Spotlight: Cory Rooney

Cory Rooney is a producer/songwriter who hails from Jamica, Queens New York. He is best known for his work with Jennifer Lopez but over the years he has produced for a variety of artists. He has had some success in TV either producing or having a guest role in shows such as MTV's "The Shop" and VH1's "Born To Diva". Cory has also worked closely with a lot of Sony music artists and held some a few powerful positions there over the years. Check out some of the work he is responsible for below: Rumors, Lindsay Lohan Real Love, Mary J. Blige I'll Do 4 U, Father MC All I Have, Jenny From The Black, I'm Glad - Jennifer Lopez Stupid, Toni Braxton Independent Woman Part 1, Destiny's Child I Think I'm In Love With You, Irresistible - Jessica Simpson Did You Ever Think, R. Kelly I Want You, Thalia Differences, Ginuwine Leny, Blaque The Beautiful Ones, Anytime You Need A Friend - Mariah Carey ---------------- Now playing: Alicia Keys - Diary ft Tony Ton

Throwback Video: Black Box - Strike It Up

"Strike It Up" is a song I remember very vividly because it was a song I heard back at home quite a bit. On the weekends when my mother would play music; when she wasn't playing her old vinyl records; she was listening to the radio. "Strike It Up" was one of those songs that got a lot of airplay so no wonder the song was a hit. Unfortunately the singer of the song didn't get her just recognition to many years later. That singer; Martha Wash was the big, monstrous voice you heard on this track but she was replaced by a tall, thin, and model esque singer. ---------------- Now playing: Black Box - Strike It Up (Original Remix) via FoxyTunes

Sean Garrett To Sign With Roc Nation!

We all know Sean Garrett right? He is the producer behind songs such as Nicki Minaj's "Massive Attack". Okay! That isn't his biggest hit but he's produced for Beyonce. Sean Garrett is rumored to be signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation! He has released one album, "Turbo 919" but the album wasn't released here in the states. Now he is prepping another album which will be released through Roc Nation/Columbia Records. Personally I think its a waste of time signing Sean Garrett to another record deal. He's really just good for producing singles and as far as his solo work; he might be good for a few more singles but I don't see it happening. Sorry! I just read that Keyshia Cole's new album will be in stores on December 14. As far as I know the album is titled, "Keyshia". The album's first single "I Ain't Thru" features Nicki Minaj. Can't go wrong there right? For me Nicki makes the song other than that its pretty l

Album Spotlight: Beyonce - B'Day

Image
| As one would expect there was a lot of anticipation for Beyonce's second album, "B'Day" released in 2006. The album featured the first single, "Deja Vu" featuring Jay-Z. The racy video was offending to some but I never quite got the fuss about it. I thought the video was cool. I liked Beyonce's dancing in it. For the second single, "Ring The Alarm" was released and many felt the lyrics were autobiographical and a swipe at Jay-Z and Rihanna. There were rumors about an affair. The third single, "Irreplaceable" produced by Ne-Yo was actually the album's saving grace as the first two singles came and went rather fast. "Irreplaceable" was very catch and instantly shot to #1. "Upgrade U" was released as the fourth single and each song from the 10 track album got the video treatment which was later released on DVD. "B'Day" is a cool album but I favor her debut album, "Dangerously In Love"

Faith Evans Talks New Album, Hair Care Products!

Here's your weekly Faith Evans interview as I come across one Faith Evans interview after another. Its definitely not a bad thing since she is promoting the hell out of her newest album, "Something About Faith". I can't say I'm mad at her! I just wished I liked the album more. ---------------- Now playing: Faith Evans - Sunshine (Produced By Mike City And Faith Evans) via FoxyTunes

Alicia Keys Gives Birth To Baby Boy!

Congrats to Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats; the couple welcomed a baby boy, Egypt Dean to the world a few days ago. This is the first child between the power couple who made headlines when their love affair began. In other Alicia Keys news, she will release; "Wait Til You See My Smile" as the next single from her platinum album, "The Element Of Freedom". The new single from Keyshia Cole, "I Ain't Thru" featuring Nicki Minaj recently leaked out and it is causing quite a stir. Nicki's verse is reportedly a dis towards Lil' Kim and whether it is or not; she certainly makes the song. I feel like its lacking something but maybe it will get better for me with repeated listens. Keyshia Cole's new album, "Keyshia" will be online and in stores this December. I was also thinking about that rumored fight Keyshia Cole and Nicki Minaj had in the studio. Some people were saying it was because Nicki was going at Kim on the song. What do you think?

Willow - Whip My Hair - Video

I remember reading and reading all this stuff about young Willow Smith and her debut single, "Whip My Hair". Now the video for the song is here. Check it out! ---------------- Now playing: Willow - Whip My Hair via FoxyTunes

Producer Spotlight: Daryl Simmons

Album Spotlight: Janet Jackson - janet.

Image
| Janet Jackson released her fifth album, "janet." in May of 1993 which is also the month of her birthday. "janet." was a pivotal point in Janet's music career for a number of reasons. First, she was simply wanting to be called Janet and secondly it was the first of many sexual themed albums. The response to this album upon its release was rather shocking to some people. There's a pleasant amount of sex discussed here but also songs that carry a message; which became Janet's stock in trade for the time. The album's first single, "That's The Way Love Goes" went to #1. I remember the summer it came out and hearing it quite a bit on radio. My mother absolutely loved the song and still does to this day. I didn't really appreciate the song for what it was until many years later though. There were multiple singles from this album including the Oscar nominated, "Again"(which also was derived from Janet's 1993 movie; "Po

Nicki Minaj Releases Debut Album Cover!

Image
I certainly wasn't expecting to see Nicki Minaj's album cover today but I knew sooner or later it would be released. Due November 22, "Pink Friday" is Nicki Minaj's long awaited debut album. I don't have much info on the album except from only what the press or Nicki has said herself. Some production from Swizz Beats, the radio singles("Your Love", "Right Thru Me", and "Check It Out" featuring will.i.am), and maybe "Massive Attack" featuring Sean Garrett. I also think the album will feature a long of production from a lot of up and coming producers so look out for that. Will Nicki be getting your coins on November 22? I already know my friend will be lined up at the Best Buy to cop this. Music Biz: Kandi Talks New Album, Tour!
