Hello all! There are a couple of music news stories that I wanted to talk about in depth so this post is a little lengthy but worth reading; I assure you. I'll start off with Mr. Drake who is riding high with hit singles; "The Motto" and "Take Care". He also recently ended his petty feud with Common. Now Drake is being called a diva and properly worse by the people at Vibe after this fiasco... I was watching "The Wendy Williams Show" the other day and she spoke about Drake during her "Hot Topics" segment. Apparently he was supposed to appear on the newest issue of Vibe magazine but the magazine ditched him. Allegedly the rapper was acting like a "diva" and the magazine opted for his own label mate; Nicki Minaj! Word is that Drake beefed with the stylist over clothes; showed up late to the set; and drove off in his Jeep. I wonder what is going on with Ms. Ashanti and her video to her single; "The Woman You Love" featuring B...

Tank releases his newest video from his upcoming album. Tank is cool to me but his music is kinda hit or miss to me. I like some songs and others I just plain despise. From what I saw of the video above; its pretty cool. It fits the song. You don't see that too much these days with videos.

"Think Like A Man" the new single from Jennifer Hudson is the premiere single from the upcoming movie; "Think Like A Man" which co-stars Kevin Hart(who appears in the video). I had been hearing this song on the radio at one point and I had no idea it was Jennifer Hudson. I don't know who I thought it was but I didn't think it was her.

Brianna strikes again with another viral video from her mixtape; "Face Off". This time; Brianna plays on the popularity of several hit reality TV shows most notably on VH1 and compares her life to that of those shows and the stars. I didn't see it during its telecast but Mary J. performed her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" on the "NBA All-Stars" game. My twitter timeline was on fire in regards to Mary J.'s performance and I don't mean that in a good way. I really don't recall seeing any good reviews whatsoever. Now that I watched it for myself; I actually liked her rendition. It didn't remind me of anyone elses' and she clearly made it her own.

It's been a long time coming but SWV is ready to roll out their new album in stores and online April 17. The album contains the single; "Co-Sign". A video for the single was recently released.

One of the hit singles from Mariah Carey's 1997; "Butterfly" album which is one of my favorites from her. Mariah Carey is currently working on new music and a new album may surface sometime this year. Remember when Mariah Carey used to release albums every year? I remember her saying it was her record label who wanted to continuously push out album after album. I mean at the time; Mariah was Sony's cash cow so they milked her for all she was worth until she had enough and left the label.

A few days ago Nicki Minaj leaked out the title track; "Roman Reloaded" from her upcoming album in stores and online April 3. The song immediately began trending on twitter and was one of the trending topics for three straight days. Roman Zolanski; Nicki's gay alter ego's name is a take on troubled movie director; Roman Polanski(director of the movie; "Rosemary's Baby"). I think Nicki even addressed the similarities in name but downplayed the comparisons. How typical of her! Now Roman is taking center stage as Nicki prepares her new album release. It's pretty evident on the title track; "Roman Reloaded". Many balked at the album title and rightfully so. Many were confused if the album was a re release or a new album. Instead the album is more like a continuation of the first album. With that being said; you can expect your mix of Pop tunes a la the recently released; "Starships" and high octane energy tracks like "Check It...

I had saw a little tweet earlier about Ashanti signing to Cash Money and also rock star Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. I even tweeted on my own twitter awhile ago that Cash Money was signing everybody and their mama and giving many artists a second, third, and fourth chance. The sneak preview of "Real Housewives Of Atlanta" star Kandi's own spinoff show; "The Kandi Factory" has been released. The singer/producer has taken two up and coming talents and molding them into Pop superstars a la "Housewives" cast mate; Kim Zolciak. Judging from the preview it looks like the typical Bravo show. That's not necessarily bad but its what we've come to expect from the network. I can't help but notice that the girl looks like the new girl from "Basketball Wives" who is an up and coming singer. I'm not sure when the show premieres but possibly once the current season of "Housewives" is over.

Rah Digga hit hard with her debut single; "Imperial" from her gold debut album; "Dirty Harriet" released back in 2000. Rah Digga was once part of Busta Rhyme's The Flipmode Squad which comprised of a variety of emcees I can't remember to name. Rah Digga released an independent release; "Classic" a year or so ago but most people were probably unaware of its release but its worth checking out if you ever get a chance.

Chris Brown has thrown yet another one of his infamous temper tantrums this time while leaving a club. I'm still on the fence about this song but a lot of people are liking it. It's the first single from Usher's upcoming album due soon on RCA Records. There's no stopping The-Dream as he unleashes a preview of the video for his single; "Roc" from his upcoming album; "The Love IV: Diary Of A Madman". Seems like The-Dream is kinda ripping off Jodeci's album title of the same name or something similar to this. The full video to this song is expected to premiere later today. Look out for that!

Remember the group Subway? They had a hit with this single and video featuring 702 but also the track "Fire". Both groups were signed to Motown Record so it made collaborations like this easier to happen. I can't remember the exact year this came out but its a true Throwback if I can say so myself.

Jon B. is back with a new single and video; "Only One" from his upcoming album; "Comfortable Swagg". I'm not sure on a release date at presstime but when I find out; I will let it be known.

Sisters With Voices are back with the video to their first single which appears on their upcoming album; "I Missed Us" which will be in stores and online April 17. Rihanna performed her worldwide hit; "We Found Love" at the 2012 Brit Awards. Rihanna is not only making headlines for this sizzling performance but a pair of sizzling duets with ex-boyfriend; Chris Brown; one for her own track; "Birthday Cake Remix" and another for Chris' own; "Turn Up The Music Remix". I've only heard the "Birthday Cake Remix" and its not bad. I haven't heard "Turn Up The Music Remix" yet but I haven't exactly been rushing to hear it either.

702 had a few hits back in the day and "Get It Together" is probably one of their most memorable. The trio was signed to Motown Record back in the late 90s and was even hailed as the new Supremes at one point. The group released three albums before later splitting up. Rick Ross unleashes his newest video from his acclaimed mixtape; "Rich Forever". The video features cameos from Timbaland and Pharrell. Rick Ross' upcoming album; "God Forgives I Don't" will hopefully be out soon.

I'm not sure if there's a video for the original version of this song or not but I hear it on the radio all the time. French Montana is one of the newest signees to Bad Boy Records.

Ashanti previews the video for her single; "The Woman You Love" which features Busta Rhymes but he is not featured in the video teaser. I'm thinking the video will likely premiere within' the next week. Ashanti's new album; "Earthly Woman" will be in stores sometimes this Spring...hopefully. Usually following the release or finale of these perspective reality shows would follow concerts, albums, movies, and things of the like. Just this past weekend coverage of Whitney Houston's homegoing was televised on CNN, BET, and select other channels. LifeTime television aired Whitney Houston's movie; "The Bodyguard" which I watched. Now continuing to honor Whitney; here is another Throwback Video from the talented songstress. "One Of Those Days" borrows from an Isley Bros. sample and no it may not be her most recognizable song but its definitely a decent and laid back one. Ray J has been pretty quiet since Whitney Houston's untimely death. Now the singer/rapper and close friend of Whitney's speaks out. I'm not sure how many people actually remember this song. I mean it does have a video but I'm not sure if it made much of an impact on the charts. Rich Boy is perhaps best known for his hit single; "Throw Some D's" but I can't even remember how I stumbled upon this song but its always been a favorite of mine. The song was produced by Polow Da Don and features Polow's frequent collaborator; Keri Hilson. I was surprised when I saw the headline that singer Robin Thicke had been arrested. I smell publicity stunt for some reason. Read more below for the full story: Robin Thicke has been arrested for marijuana possession in New York City ... this according to law enforcement. According to law enforcement, 34-year-old Thicke was busted this afternoon in Manhattan near Madison Square Park -- after police claim they saw the singer lighting up a joint inside a black SUV. Sources tell TMZ, Robin was extremely cooperative -- and even signed a couple autographs. Thicke was given a desk appearance ticket and released soon after. A rep for Robin Thicke had no comment. There had been talk about Lil' Kim releasing a new song but like most people; we weren't holding our breaths. We've been promised music in the past and got nothing. Now Kim has emerged with a new single; "If You Love Me" but I'm not sure where its from. I'm not sure if its the first single from her upcoming album or this EP she was going on about. Either way I heard the song and I do like it. I would say its better than Nicki Minaj's "Starships" mess. Pop star Whitney Houston's funeral service will be held Saturday in the church where she first showcased her singing talents as a child. The owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark said Tuesday that Houston's funeral would be held at noon Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark. The 48-year-old Houston died Feb. 11 at a hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. Officials say she was underwater and apparently unconscious when she was pulled from a bathtub. Her body was returned to New Jersey late Monday. Houston was born in Newark and was raised in nearby East Orange. She began singing as a child at New Hope Baptist Church, where her mother, Grammy-winning gospel singer Cissy Houston, led the music program for many years. It's so many magazines in existence; I can't keep up with everyone. Its not like I frequent the bookstores anymore and see the various magazines. Despite my limited knowledge of magazines; that doesn't stop the circulation of such publications and artists like Christina Milian gracing the cover. To say Christina Milian is doing a lot is an understatement. Just these last few days; I've reported quite a bit of info on Ms. Milian. Whitney Houston had recently finished filming the movie; "Sparkle" shortly before her death and now news regarding the movie's soundtrack has been revealed. If things couldn't get any worse; Whitney Houston's only daughter; Bobbi Kristina was rushed to the hospital. I can only imagine the pain and suffering she is enduring and my heart goes out to her and the family of Whitney Houston. The Beverly Hills Fire Department says Bobbi Kristina Brown was taken from the Beverly Hills Hilton around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, less than a day after her mother died in a room at the same hotel. The 18-year-old's condition was not immediately known. An email message sent to a representative of her father, Bobby Brown, was not immediately returned. Coroner's officials received Whitney Houston's body early Sunday morning, but have not yet said when an autopsy will occur. Any cause of death determination will likely be delayed while they await toxicology results.

On Thursday night, just two days before her death, Whitney Houston showed up at R&B singer Kelly Price's pre-Grammy celebration. The two old friends even sang a duet of "Yes, Jesus Loves Me." Talking to Rolling Stone last night, Price – who was clearly struggling to control her emotions before succumbing to tears near the end of the interview – said that the song was a fitting one. It looks like Lil' Wayne is giving a lot of people a chance including Busta Rhymes; Bow Wow; and now Christina Milian who is the newest signee to Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Records. Read more below: It’s been a game of hop, skip, and jump for R&B belle Christina Milian in recent years. Ditched by Def Jam in 2006, the 30 year old moved to the ill-fated MySpace Records, only to leave for The-Dream‘s Radio Killa imprint in 2010; a move which also saw her jump the broom with the hitmaker. Yet, predictably, that deal spoiled when their marriage did, leaving Milian – once again – without a label. Speaking at the Young Money / Cash Money Pre-Grammy Party last night, Lil Wayne announced that Milian was the latest singer to the Young Money roster. No illegal drugs have been found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died -- at least not yet -- but prescription drugs were present, and it's possible the singer drowned in the bathtub ... Ahead of the April 3 release of her sophomore set Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Young Money’s First Lady will debut “Roman Holiday,” a never-before-heard cut off the album at the Grammy Awards. She is nominated in four categories including Best New Artist at the 54th annual ceremony, which airs live on February 12. “Roman Holiday” will go on sale immediately following the telecast, along with other performances. The following day on February 13, Ryan Seacrest will premiere the album’s new single, “Starships,” which will be available on iTunes the same day. The Grammy telecast is adding even more star power in the days leading up to Sunday’s show. Alicia Keys will honor the late legend Etta James with a special performance. The 14-time Grammy winner will team with blues icon Bonnie Raitt for a tribute at the 54th annual event, airing live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 12. The “At Last” singer died last month at the age of 73 from complications from leukemia. “Wow Etta James! :-( What a phenomenal woman and spectacular voice!” tweeted Alicia upon learning of her passing. We all know Day26 from MTV's "Making The Band". The group is no longer affiliated with the Bad Boy label. They were one of the acts that Atlantic[Records] wanted to keep when Bad Boy jumped ship from the label.

Producer/singer Bei Maejor releases his latest video; "The Truth" which will appear on his upcoming EP; "Upscale EP". EP's seem to be the "in" thing and virtually a bevy of artists new and old are releasing them. EP's to me are like the cousin of mixtapes. It's just another avenue for artists to release(sometimes) free music as a means of promotion until they give us the main course; the full length album. I'm not really sure how I feel about Bei Maejor but I do love his "Trouble" song featuring J. Cole. I think I need to hear more songs from him to see if I will be anticipating any EP or album that's in the works.

A few months ago was my first time hearing of Brianna through her mixtape; "Face Off". The Poe Boy/Atlantic Records recording artist will launch her own debut album later this year. I remember when Jacki-O(remember her) used to be signed to Poe Boy. Is Brianna simply their new Jacki-0. She kinda reminds me of her.
