Raheem DeVaughn - She's Single - Video

Raheem DeVaughn turns up the heat in this video which takes on Lil' Wayne's "I'm Single". The track appears on Raheem's new mixtape, "Jacking For Beats" out now.

Music Biz:
Warren G Speaks On Nate Dogg's Recovery!

Fellow 213 member Warren G explains Nate Dogg's condition and how he and others are trying to help him get back on his feet.

Aside from friends and former collaborators confirming visits and offering their well-wishes, there haven’t been too many reports on how one-time Death Row mainstay Nate Dogg’s health is progressing. In April, Damizza told DubCNN that Nate was alert but not speaking. Now, in a recent interview with HipHollywood, Warren G says Nate is undergoing therapy, and confirms that his longtime collaborator did in fact suffer two strokes.

“Everybody’s just gotta keep him in their prayers, because he had two strokes and that’s real dangerous,” Warren G said. “A lot of people don’t come back from that. Luther Vandross did it, so hopefully Nate can do it. The game needs him. I need him.”

After supplying the hooks to dozens of hit songs and releasing his own solo project, Nate Dogg suffered two strokes within a 10-month span between 2007 and 2008. Warren G says he and other friends of Nate Dogg within the industry have plans to create a website for fans to donate and help Nate out with his medical expenses. In the meantime, Nate Dogg continues to undergo therapy while recovering from his strokes. By all accounts, the singer who lent his voice to so many of Hip Hop’s classics is aware and alert. And while even Dr. Dre expressed hopes of getting some vocals, it is unknown if Nate will be able to resume his singing career.

Dirty Money - Coming Home - Video

These days artists are releasing videos so fast its hard to keep up with them especially if you run a blog like I do. I don't like this song. They could of kept this one. I think Dirty Money will release their album, "Last Train To Paris" next month on December 14 or December 21. I can't remember.

Music Feed: Featuring Faith Evans

Faith Evans gets it popping not only on the solo tip but also on the guest appearance tip. She is one of the few artists who people call on to bless their songs. Over the years Faith has appeared on many a tracks and the songs below are just a few. Check them out!

Georgy Porgy, Eric Benet featuring Faith Evans
What I remember most about this song if not anything else is the video. Faith Evans had orange hair! Cool right?

Can't Last A Day, Teena Marie featuring Faith Evans
This was the first single off Teena Marie's last album. Sadly I can't remember the name of it though. Still the song was a hit and Urban AC ate this song up as they typically respond to songs of this caliber anyway.

Ma, I Don't Love Her, The Clipse featuring Faith Evans & Pharrell
Most people might not remember this song as it wasn't a hit. There was a video though and Faith barely appeared in it. I believe she was pregnant at the time and her little scenes were filmed mostly in a car with hydraulics.

Lay With You, El DeBarge featuring Faith Evans
This is one of my favorite songs out right now. The chemistry between El DeBarge and Faith Evans is undeniable here. The duo recently performed this song at Sunday night's telecast of the Soul Train Awards.

Love Is Blind, Eve featuring Faith Evans
I never really cared for this song. I think I would always turn it when it came on; whether it be the radio or the video. The song did have a message though and what better singer to convey that message than Faith Evans.

Ms. Jade Featuring Freeway - Blowing Up

Ms. Jade returns to the music scene via her mixtape, "Straight No Chaser" which features "Blowing Up" and as you can see Jade is in the company of many of Philly's own including Peedi Peedi and Young Chris among others.

Keri Hilson Graces New VIBE Magazine Cover!

Keri Hilson is virtually all over the place at this time. She has three new videos and singles in rotation, an upcoming album, an appearance on this year's VH1's "Diva's Live", and now the new cover of Vibe magazine.

Many of you might forget that Keri Hilson is not exactly new to the scene. Even though she released her debut album, "...In A Perfect World", she is a noted songwriter who has wrote for everyone from Omarion to Britney Spears. I'm just catching you up to date for those who don't know. If you didn't know though you have had to been hiding under a rock.

Are you digging the new Keri Hilson image?

Music Biz:
Kelly Rowland Not Paying Taxes?

Grammy-Award winning singer Kelly Rowland , sidekick to Beyonce in the group Destiny's Child, owes the IRS more than $98,000 in delinquent federal taxes, according to public records.

Rowland, 29, rose to fame in the girl group, which broke through with the 1999 hit tune "Bills, Bills, Bills." After the group broke up, she released a few solo albums and maintains an acting career that included portraying Motown legend (and ex-Detroit Councilwoman/ tax delinquent ) Martha Reeves in a 2003 episode of the TV show "American Dreams."

Keri Hilson - The Way You Love Me - Video

Keri Hilson channels her inner Christina Aguilera. Think her video; "Dirrty". Keri gets pretty trashy here not only with her look but the lyrics too. I think this is a little too out there but it just might prove to be a hit for her. This is the third video and single from her upcoming album, "No Boys Allowed" in stores and online December 21.

I can't forget to mention that the video is not only worth watching for Keri's half dressed self but special appearances from Rick Ross, JoJo, Faith Evans, and many more.

Throwback Video: Latrelle - House Party

I'm back people! I took a little break from blogging. I was out of town.

Blink and you might of missed this song and video from Latrelle. She was once signed to Arista Records and her debut album, "Dirty Girl" was never released. This is her sole video and its one of my favorite songs of all time, and one of my favorite songs produced by The Neptunes.

Album Spotlight: Lloyd - Lessons In Love

|

After the success of his album, "Street Love", Lloyd and co. wasted no time pumping out the third album, "Lessons In Love". The album featured the first official single, "Girl's Around The World" finds Lloyd re-teaming with Lil' Wayne. The second single, "Year Of The Lover" which included a remix with Plies didn't fare well.

Some of my favorite songs include "Sex Education", "Treat U Good" and "Lose Your Love".

Kanye West Appears On New Complex Magazine Cover!

His new album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" is in stores and online now. The album is slated to be #1 next week but faces some fierce competition from one of the guests on his album, Nicki Minaj.

I don't but for some reason I figured Kanye would break a million because he has had so much press for this album; negative and positive. He had the five star review from Rolling Stone magazine. The naked pictures leaked. A lot of the songs leaked out. He had the falling out with Matt Lauer and the "Today" show.

Christina Milian Revamps New Album!

Before she hooked up and married The-Dream we were supposed to get a new Christina Milian album. Now that's she broken up with The-Dream and has become a mother, we are getting a new Christina Milian album next year...finally! Read more about the new revamped album as well as stories on Fantasia's latest drama with her married lover and Nicki Minaj speaking out on Lil' Kim...again!

Christina Milian fans have been patiently waiting for new music. After having a baby and separating from her husband, the 29-year-old singer is readying an album that will showcase her fun, sexy side.

“Next year I’ll finally be putting out a new album,” Christina said backstage at the American Music Awards. “I think I always say that, but this time I mean it. I just had to find some time to revamp and regroup everything for what this new album’s gonna be. It’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be sexy, it’s gonna be everything that embodies what has happened in my life, but of course in the most fun manner.”

She hinted that she would address her separation from The-Dream, who she mothered a daughter with earlier this year. “There are a lot of secrets that are gonna be on there. I’m sure I’ll get to expose lots of sexy details,” she teased. “It’s gonna be fun, a lot of really good energy, a lot of great club songs. A lot of real intimate songs that are just true to my heart and what goes on in my life.”

The follow-up to 2006’s So Amazin’, previously titled Elope, will be reworked before its release in 2011. “It’s gonna be done through Interscope Records and we’re just getting started on revamping that album now.”

In the meantime, you can catch C. Mili in the made-for-TV movie Christmas Cupid, premiering December 12 on ABC Family.
Fantasia's Painful Admission In Court!
According to RadarOnline.com, singer Fantasia has admitted to aborting Antwaun Cook’s baby.

RadarOnline, which is owned by The National Enquirer, quotes a source who says Fantasia was in court this morning where she admitted to aborting her lover’s baby around the time of her failed suicide attempt.

The American Idol winner made the sensational confession in a North Carolina court on Monday during Cook’s divorce proceeding with his ex-wife Paula.

Facing questions before a Mecklenburg County Court judge, the famous singer, 26, was pressed on whether she knew Cook was living with Paula when they embarked on their illicit affair.

The Idol season three winner has acknowledged she dated Cook “off and on for about 11 months” but said she believed he had separated from his wife.

In court, lawyers for the scorned wife pressed Fantasia about a hotel rendezvous that took place just a few days after meeting one another.

“Paula’s lawyer is arguing that they got the room because she knew he was still married,” one onlooker – who was inside the court – told RadarOnline.com.

There were no reporters in the courtroom and witnesses were asked to leave as Fantasia took the stand.
This whole drama with Fantasia and her married lover continues to get interesting by the minute. I'm surprised at how open things are on her show on VH1. I haven't been able to keep up with it properly since "Atlanta Housewives" have moved to Sundays but I was able to catch up earlier Sunday morning.

Nicki Minaj Responds To Lil' Kim!
While Kim has made no secret of her distaste for the Young Money emcee, Nicki Minaj has remained more guarded about overtly dissing Kim, preferring thinly-veiled subliminals in songs such as "Roman's Revenge" and "Monster."

In an interview with Angie Martinez, when asked about Kim, Nicki was more forthcoming than she had been in the past. "[Kim] just really jumped out the window. You gotta be really careful when you pick fights...I think people get me mistaken with a real Barbie. They forget where I'm from. And if I have to [respond], I can and I will. Don't play with me. It's one of those moments when you say, 'Don't play with me.'"

Minaj, who claimed Kim as an influence earlier in the interview, continued: "I respect you, I love you, I've said it in every interview time and time again. And if that's not good enough [for] you, mama, that's something deep-rooted in you. You need to get your -- something is bothering you inside. That's your insecurity bothering you. It's not Nicki Minaj, it would've been any girl that started poppin'. She picked a fight with Foxy, then she picked a fight with Eve, then she picked a fight with Remy, then it was Mrs. Wallace, then it was Nicki Minaj! Everytime you in the news, it's because you gettin' at somebody! Where is your music? ...When I see your name on Billboard, that's when I'll respond to you."

Album Spotlight: Destiny's Child - The Writings On The Wall

|

I know what you all are thinking. I want a Destiny's Child reunion so bad that I have spotlighted two of their albums back to back. Well that is not the case. I was able to find some albums that I never spotlighted. I have done so many in such a short time, I honestly feel like I was starting to hit a brick.

I don't think anyone had no idea how successful this album would prove to be. Destiny's Child certainly outdid themselves on this album due to not only the good music but the scandals; the album was certified like 8x platinum.

The album featured the first single, "Bills Bills Bills". The song and the group were criticized for their man dissing ways and it only continued on "Bug A Boo". "Jumpin Jumpin" was the album's third single and by the time the fourth single; "Say My Name" was released, the accompanying video featured two new members; Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin.

Despite all the inner turmoil within the group, it made for some pretty interesting music even the songs that weren't chosen as singles such as "Temptation", "Now That She's Gone"(one of my personal favorites), "Confessions", and "So Good".

Album Review: Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday

|

I can't say I was exactly anticipating Nicki Minaj's debut album, "Pink Friday" in stores and online today. It wasn't until I heard the leaked; "Roman's Revenge" featuring Eminem. The song was leaked by Nicki herself and upon its leak; the song was a trending topic on twitter. Whenever anything is trending on twitter, its usually a big deal. Of course I scurried to hear this song and I was pleasantly surprised. I had to tell my best friend that the song leaked since he is a huge Nicki Minaj fan.

The song features Nicki as her alter ego; Roman Zolanski; a play at director Roman Polanski; known for his erratic behavior. The song; an obvious dis to Lil' Kim is sparse in production and features Eminem tapping into Slim Shady. Here, both rappers trade bars ridiculing their haters and just plain people in general. The song works because its zany and Nicki delivers some of her most outrageous rhymes and vocals to date.

As for the rest of the album; "Pink Friday" opens up with "I'm The Best" which is pretty forgettable to me. Much better is "Did It On 'Em" which is easily one of my favorite songs on the album. The song features a lot of lyrics that stand out and are simply funny and catchy. I find myself repeating a lot of those lines throughout the day and using them on my friend.

Not only are there the boisterous Hip Hop songs, there is a overabundance of Pop songs in the form of "Fly" featuring Rihanna, "Save Me", and "Check It Out" featuring will.i.am. which all work but may disappoint the hardcore Nicki Minaj mixtape fans. These songs do display Nicki's versatility as does the singles, "Your Love" and "Right Thru Me" which have all fared well on the charts.

The Swizz Beats production; "Here I Am" is another favorite of mine and I like the mood of the song. "Moment 4 Life" featuring Drake is another standout.

There are a lot of great moments here and a lot of potential singles. Like label mate, Drake's debut; "Thank Me Later", I think this album will produce multiple hit singles(which in fact it already has). I definitely see this album having a long shelf life on the charts.

All in all Nicki produced a thorough album to me. Its not what everyone expected but then again that's part of her appeal. She definitely went left when everyone though she would go right. You have to respect that.

Nicki Minaj Picks Next Single!

Nicki Minaj's debut album, "Pink Friday" is in stores and online now. I read that the rapper will release "Save Me" as her next single. I like "Save Me" so I'm not mad at the choice. Nicki has so many potential singles on the album so I see more and more singles being released in the near future.

I read that Nicki will do 300K in her first week and that's according to Billboard. Who knows? That number could go higher.

So last night I watched the American Music Awards and to be honest I had no idea it was coming on. I mean I remember reading the nomination list but I just forgot the date. Well once I pulled up the performance list, I can't say I was all that eager to see it but I watched most of the telecast. So for those who have missed it, I will provide you a brief recap(using the best of my knowledge) and what I saw.

Usher won two awards, Best Male R&B Artist and Soul/R&B Album Female. He performed but I didn't see it. I started watching "The Real Housewives Of Atlanta" so. Rihanna performed a medley of her hits at the beginning of the show; "Only Girl(In The World)", "What's My Name", and something else I did. She looked really good and she was working that stage. She won for Best R&B/Soul Album Female.

Nicki Minaj and Trey Songz presented an award(I can't remember which one though) and Nicki plugged in her album of course and wore green highlights in her trademark blond wigs.

Christina Milian, in a rare TV appearance presented the Latin Music Award. I forget who her co-presenter. I guess I didn't pay as much attention as I thought I did.

Sorry guys for the half-assed commentary!

Producer Spotlight: Raphael Saadiq

I consider Raphael Saadiq to be one of the more underrated producers in the game. He has been in the business for many years starting from his beginnings from the group; Tony! Toni! Tone! Collectively that group has had many hits including "Anniversary", "Lay Your Head On My Pillow", and "Little Walter".

Eventually he would change his surname to Saadiq and began his successful production career. That also led to him jump starting the group, Lucy Pearl which featured En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson. Along the way Raphael has produced for many urban artists from Kelis to Teedra Moses to Joss Stone to Mary J. Blige. You will learn of some of the songs he's produced below.

Raphael was born in Oakland, California. At one time he dated singer Joss Stone and produced some cuts for several of her albums. I bet she didn't pay for those tracks!

Check out Raphael's extensive discography below:

  • 2 Way, Ginuwine
  • Ain't Nobdy Worryin', Anthony Hamilton
  • Attention, Glow - Kelis
  • Better Man, Musiq
  • Big 'Ol Game, Joss Stone
  • Brotha, Angie Stone
  • Can't Get Enough, WillieMax
  • Come To Me, Kenny Lattimore
  • Dance Tonight, Lucy Pearl
  • Don't Worry, Chingy
  • Do You Think About Us?, Total
  • Ecstacy, Jaguar Wright
  • Fat Joe's In Town, Fat Joe
  • Fine, Whitney Houston
  • Get Involved, Q-Tip
  • How Does It Feel?, D'Angelo
  • I Found My Everything, Mary J. Blige
  • Knock Knock, Truth Hurts

Album Spotlight: Destiny's Child - Destiny's Child

|

Destiny's Child burst onto the scene with their self-titled 1997 debut which featured the hit single; "No No No Part 2" featuring Wyclef. The album's second single was another two parter, "With Me Part 2".

I don't remember the story with the "Part 2" of the songs being the lead singles instead of the "Part 1". I think the "Part 1" just didn't work out so...but Part 1 of "No No No" is slower and is equally good as "Part 2" if not better.

I remember buying the debut album but after so many years, I forget what happens to certain albums that I owned. I have though kept a nice number of them.

Now we all know Destiny's Child as the powerhouse group that has outsold TLC according to reports. There is always talk about a reunion and there was talk most recently when former members started appearing in pictures together. As always the ladies denied the rumors. Everyone is pretty much concentrating on solo careers but it wouldn't hurt for these ladies to come back together in whatever form. Some of the members may actually need it cause their solo endeavors aren't working out.

Keyshia Cole - Long Way Down - Video

Keyshia Cole has wasted no time releasing a second video and single but then again she is releasing two; the other being the Nicki Minaj featured; "I Ain't Thru". Earlier in the week Keyshia premiered both videos on BET's "106 & Park". I think its pretty bold of her to release the video for "Long Way Down" without it officially being added to radio. No one had heard it prior to this but surprisingly its a decent song to me. I think Keyshia looks nice in it though.

Keyshia Cole's new album, "Calling All Hearts" will be in stores and online December 14.

Music Biz:
Keri Hilson Readies New Album Release!

Her album may be titled No Boys Allowed, but that doesn’t mean Keri Hilson has totally banned the opposite sex. The R&B diva has recruited Chris Brown, Kanye West, and Rick Ross for her sophomore set.

Executive produced by Timbaland and Polow Da Don, the follow-up to last year’s In a Perfect World… features appearances by the aforementioned artists and production by Danjahandz, John Legend and Jerry Wonder (“All the Boys”), Ryan Leslie, Boi-1da, Stargate, and Ne-Yo and Chuck Harmony, who helmed the single “Pretty Girl Rock.”

“It’s not about excluding men,” Keri explained of the album’s title. “It’s more about women understanding that there comes a time in your life when you want a man. A real man. A grown up. Not a boy. And that’s not a bad thing.”

A video for the Rick Ross-assisted “The Way You Love Me” was recently shot with director-choreographer Laurieann Gibson and features cameos from JoJo, Faith Evans, Lloyd, and more.

To promote the album, due December 21, Keri will appear on the American Music Awards, “VH1 Divas Salute the Troops,” Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, “Today,” and CBS’ “A Home for the Holidays.”
Rihanna Speaks On Making Music!
Pop/R&B star Rihanna’s fifth studio project, ‘Loud,’ is set to debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart with around 180-190k in sales in its first week, reports Hits Double Daily.

“Never have I ever stressed out on the first week,” Rihanna recently tells New York radio host Angie Martinez. “Ever since ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’, the first week was like 160[,000], and it grew to sell nine million albums. The first week never determines what the success of the album will be.”

Rihanna is currently on the road promoting, Loud, which is led by the singles “Only Girl (In The World)" and the Billboard Hot 100 topper “What’s My Name?” featuring Young Money MC Drake.

“I love making music and I feel like as a musician, there’s no reason to stop unless you really want to,” RiRi told ABC’s “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts on Wednesday (Nov. 17) in regards to her new project. “There’s no rule that says you have to take a break between albums. We’re here to make music and the fans want music. … It really happened quickly. We did a lot of work in very little time, so it’s exciting.”

Album Spotlight: Shanice - Every Woman Dreams

|

Shanice returned back to the music scene in 2006 with "Every Woman Dreams" and the title track was the lead single. "Take Care Of U" was released as the album's second single. This was Shanice's first album released through an independent label. The album did well by independent standards. There was heavy Internet campaign for this album by way of Shanice's personal website and MySpace.

Years ago Shanice cover Minnie Riperton's classic; "Loving You" and she covers again it on this album and I think I like this cover version on this album better. Another personal highlight of mine is the song; "Forever Like A Rose" which makes me think of a song Shanice could of easily recorded in the 90s.

Nowadays Shanice is currently working on a new album which will likely be released in 2011.

Keyshia Cole Reveals New Album Tracklisting!

Keyshia Cole's newest album, "Calling All Names" marks her return to music after being out of the limelight for a few years after giving birth. Now the singer returns just in time for the Holidays. What better time huh? Right where record sales are usually at an all time high.

We all better enjoy this shitload of music we're getting. Come January the music landscape will be pretty dead at least until March or April; at least that's how it usually is.

Keyshia Cole revealed via her Facebook and Twitter pages that she plans to name her upcoming album “Calling All Hearts.” Set to be released on December 21st, the 29 year old r n’ b diva said her new project was finished only days ago and that it would be her “most personal album to date.”

1. I Ain’t Thru
2. Long Way Down
3. Tired Of Doing Me
4. If I Fall In Love Again
5. So Impossible
6. Hangover
7. Confused In Love
8. Take Me Away
9. Sometimes
10. What You Do To Me
11. Better Me
12. Friends Turn Their Back
13. Where Would We
14. Thank You
I can't say I really been into Keyshia Cole the last few albums but I do like "I Ain't Thru" which features Nicki Minaj. I know a lot of people don't care much for it but I always end up liking what everyone else usually hates. I'm funny like that I know!

Pharrell Speaks On Song Dedicated To Chris Brown!
Chris Brown’s career is on an upswing, previously down from the aftermath of his February 2009 assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown’s celebrity friends are showing him support. Drake, T.I., Kanye West and Andre 3000 appear on a remix of his top 20 song “Deuces.”

But Pharrell Williams, frontman of N.E.R.D. and one of Brown’s big brothers in the music business, has taken it a step further, writing a song of encouragement for the embattled singer.

N.E.R.D., Williams’ alternative hip hop band with Chad Hugo and Shae Williams, features the song “God Bless Us All” on its fourth studio album, “Nothing.” The track is dedicated to Brown, Williams revealed to Yahoo! Music.

”’God Bless Us All’ is about Chris. When you hear me say, ‘Hold your head up lil’ bruh,’ I’m talking about Chris,” said Williams, who added that Brown refers to him as Big Bro. “When I say, ‘You’re a Brown in this world that’s black and white,’ I wasn’t talking about the fact that there are issues and you’re either black or white. I was saying the world is just very clear. It’s black and white.”

The song’s strong message of hope tells Brown not to focus on the negativity, but to stay optimistic. “Forget what you read lil’ bruh/ Get them words out your head lil’ bruh,” Williams sings.

In another verse, Williams adds, “You were made to amaze and bring change lil’ bruh.”
Toni Braxton's Latest Battle!
Toni Braxton has been having a tough time of it—and no one knew just how tough it's been.

The singer revealed today at a luncheon benefiting lupus awareness and research that she too is battling the potentially deadly autoimmune disease.

"Take a look, this is what lupus looks like," Braxton said to a surprised audience as she accepted one of two Women in Achievement awards at the 8th Annual bag Ladies Luncheon. ( Rachel Zoe received the other one.)

Lady Gaga spoke up earlier this year about testing "borderline positive" for lupus, which has affected other members of her family. She bought ad space for Braxton in the event program, writing the message, "Toni, your strength is admirable. As a woman whose family has been affected by lupus, I understand your struggle and have you in my thoughts. —Gaga."

Sadly, Braxton is no stranger to health problems. The American Heart Association spokeswoman also suffers from pericarditis , an inflammation of the heart lining that has left her prone to high blood pressure and heart palpitations and has interfered with her performance schedule over the years.

She also had what luckily turned out to be a benign tumor removed from her breast shortly after her run on Dancing With the Stars in 2008.

Toni Braxton is definitely one tough cookie. She has gone through so much. Its always one thing after another. I hope things start to look up for her.

Tank Gets Ready To Release New Album!

Poised to release his fourth studio album Now or Never, Tank is ready to share the intensely intimate themes his fans have come to love, even as he prepares to show an entirely new side of himself. “The sound of this new album is still the traditional R&B formula, but sonically it’s very current,” says Tank. His first single, “Sex Music,” perfectly illustrates his new sound. The high-energy track lives up to its name with a spacey, shuddering beat. Produced by Song Dynasty with Harvey Mason Jr. (Dreamgirls, Kelly Clarkson,Justin Timberlake), “Sex Music” is sure to appeal to die-hard Tank fans.

I've liked the all the songs I've heard from Tank's new album thus far so I'm really looking forward to this album. I felt somewhat like this with his last album, "Sex Pain & Music" but there wasn't an overload of songs leaked out prior that release(not that I know of anyway). This is just one more album to add to my collection this Holiday.

Album Spotlight: 112 - Pleasure & Pain

|

By the time 112 released their fifth album in early 2005, 112 was no longer innocent and their songs(and singles) were overtly sexual. Case in point; first single; "U Already Know" was pretty explicit as well as the remix which featured Foxy Brown. For the album's second single; "What If"; the group returned to their more softer and subtle side. Though it wasn't released officially, the song; "If It Hit" featuring Ciara & T.I. got a little airplay.

Other than that the album didn't have much of a shelf life; basically it came and went. It's a decent album in my opinion and I think maybe a little underrated. I can't say its the best because I truly don't know all of 112's albums. I can only say I've been a casual fan over the years mainly taking a liking to their singles moreover their albums.

Music Biz:
Nicki Minaj Almost Kicked Out Of Young Money!

It’s seems a bit unlikely that Nicki Minaj’s future with Young Money would be in jeopardy considering she set a record by placing seven singles on Billboard magazine’s “Hot 100” singles chart. But that was exactly the prospect she faced when Lil Wayne contemplated kicking her out of Young Money after she dropped off the second leg of his “I Am Music” tour.

“I started to record by myself and I lost track of what I was doing and who I wanted to be,” Nicki told Billboard. “It wasn’t until I linked back up with Wayne that he gave me this speech. He said, ‘What happened? You were hot,’ and it just hurt me so much. I wanted to prove to him that I was still hot. It hurt my ego so bad that I went back with a vengeance.”

Interestingly enough, it would be Nicki Minaj and her faux husband and fellow Young Money cohort, Drake, who helped keep the Young Money ship afloat while Lil Wayne was incarcerated. While Lil Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being and Drake’s Thank Me Later respectively helped buoy the label’s sales, six of Nicki Minaj’s feature appearances account for nearly $4.3 million in sales. The ability to brand herself has translated into other ventures, as Nicki is reportedly working with MAC makeup to start a signature line.

Rihanna Offered Playboy Magazine Cover!

On her album release day, Rihanna and her Roc Nation boss Jay-Z arrived at New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater for a taping of “The Late Show.” The “What’s My Name?” singer turned heads with her long red hair, while a bespectacled Jay opted for a more laid-back, preppy look. Hov will sit down on the couch with David Letterman while Rihanna performs on tonight’s show.

RiRi revealed to Angie Martinez that she’s been offered to pose for Playboy several times, but turned the magazine down. “I got a few offers to do Playboy actually. They want to pay you to be naked on the cover,” she said. “If I’m gonna take my clothes off, it has to be in a classy way and my will, not a check. I wouldn’t take any money to do that.” But she does enjoy walking around nude when she’s in the privacy of her home.

Album Spotlight: Vivian Green - Vivian

|

Vivian Green released her second album simply titled "Vivian" in 2005. The album contained the hit single, "Gotta Go Gotta Leave". Though "Gotta" was a hit, nothing else from the album really hit except "I Like It(But I Don't Need It)" which went to #1 on the Dance charts. It seems like with artists like Vivian Green; all they get is one single and then the label pretty much drops the ball.

This doesn't mean that this album is in no way good at all because it is. Its just one of the many overlooked R&B albums that are released each year. There are a lot of good songs here and you should definitely check this album out. Some of my favorite songs are "Cursed"(which appears as a hidden track), "Wish We Could Go Back", "Damn", "Frustrated", "I Like It(But I Don't Need It)", and "Sweet Memory".

Five years later Vivian returned to music again on a new label; E1 and with the track "Beautiful" which has been her only single to date. See the pattern. Even at a new label; Vivian only gets one single. Something is wrong there.

If you watch "The Real Housewives Of Atlanta"; the model Cynthia bares a resemblance to Vivian Green. It could also be the short hair though.

Michael Jackson Releases New Single!

The debate concerning the authenticity of Michael Jackson's vocals on his new album, "Michael" in stores and online December 14 has reached a fever pitch. Now the first official single, "Hold My Hand" featuring Akon has leaked out. Still, there is debate about whether or not its Michael and to me it does sound like him and then again it doesn't. This is mind boggling.

The album will likely be one of the bigger hits this Holiday season. Just you watch!

Jamie Foxx is back with a new album, "Best Night Of My Life" which will be released on December 21. The album contains the singles; "Body", "Winner" and most recently; "Fall For Your Type" featuring Drake which is one of my favorite songs right now.

After pictures recently surfaced out of Ray J and Whitney Houston; Ray J has put an end to the rumors that he is dating Whitney Houston.

I mean I didn't know people still thought he did but if he keeps showing up randomly with her in pictures then people will assume. You know what they say when people assume; you make an ass out of you. We all know Ray J likes older women so that makes the whole thing even more believable. Catch Ray J in the new season of his VH1 reality TV show; "Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business" airing December 5.

Throwback Video: Megan Rochelle - The One You Need

Remember Megan Rochelle? She was poised to be the next big thing but she didn't quite take off. One of her singles; "The One You Need" was produced by Rodney Jerkins. At one point Megan had a little beef with Monica but for some reason I can't remember what for. I think it was something over a song. Petty huh?

Kelly Price Returns With New Album!

It's been awhile since we've had an album from Kelly Price. At one time she was part of a group project; The Queen Project which featured singers Deborah Cox and Tamia. Since that project has stalled, Kelly has forged forward with her next solo endeavor. Read more below about Kelly's upcoming album as well as Nicki Minaj's past jobs and Ciara's new album release!

Grammy nominated R&B/Gospel singer Kelly Price is gearing up to release her much-anticipated sixth album, Kelly, February 8, 2011 via Sang Girl/My Block Records. The set is led by the first single, “Tired,” recently impacted radio, reaching a Top 30 spot at Urban AC this week.

“Tired” was written by Kelly Price, produced by Shep Crawford and inspired by a creative heart-to-heart Price shared with fellow musician and past collaborator, R. Kelly. The song sheds light on the social ills that were not only causing her distress at the time, but also seemed to be plaguing the world as a whole. The album will feature additional production by Warryn Campbell and Jazz Nixon.

Kelly Price made her introduction to the world in 1998 with the double-platinum debut, ‘Soul of a Woman.’ Her first single, "Friend of Mine," was a record-breaking single that made history as the first to garner the #1 spot on the singles chart without an accompanying video clip--a rare feat during the era when music videos were the driving force of popular culture.

She returned to center stage three years later with the platinum-plus seller, Mirror, Mirror, led by her remake of the R&B classic, "As We Lay," and followed up with the gold-selling holiday collection, One Family: A Christmas Album in 2001. Three years after releasing her fourth album, Priceless, she returned to her roots for This Is Whom I Am, a live gospel album recorded at her church home in Long Island.
Nicki Minaj Talks About Career Before Rap!
Queens, New York rapper Nicki Minaj will cover next week's issue of Billboard magazine, just as her new debut album Pink Friday heads to stores.

In the interview with Billboard, Nicki Minaj shares several details about her life before she was a world famous rapper.

"I’d been fired like 15 times because I had a horrible attitude," Nicki Minaj stated. "I worked at Red Lobster before that and I chased a customer out of the restaurant once so I could stick my middle finger up at her and demand that she give me my pen back. I swear to God I was bad."

According to Nicki Minaj, she started using her various accents shortly after she started to gain buzz on the New York rap circuit, in order to distance herself from other emcees.

“When I started rapping, people were trying to make me like the typical New York rapper, but I’m not that,” Minaj says. “No disrespect to New York rappers, but I don’t want people to hear me and know exactly where I’m from. I wanted the album to be universal and versatile. It really feels like it speaks for every one of my personalities.”

Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday is due in stores on November 23rd.
Ciara Finally Readies New Album!
Grammy Award winner and multi-platinum recording artist Ciara gets back to basics pursuing her creative vision on Basic Instinct. Executive produced by Ciara, Tricky Stewart, The Dream and Mark Pitts, the singer’s anticipated fourth LaFace/Jive Records album is due in stores December 14!

Initially heightening anticipation for Basic Instinct was the sexy, sensual first single “Ride”. The mid-tempo track, produced by Tricky Stewart and The Dream, features frequent Ciara collaborator Ludacris, who adds a devilishly clever verse to the song. “Ride” rolled out several impressive stats. The single peaked to No. 3 on the Urban Mainstream chart and marked the singer/dancer’s twelfth top 10 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop radio airplay charts as well as the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart. On the Rhythm chart, the track peaked to No. 11 while accumulating combined digital and mobile sales of more than 680k to date. The sultry video—set off by Ciara’s unparalleled, lithe dance moves—boasts more than 15 million YouTube views.

The album marks Ciara’s return to her signature style of uptempo dance grooves. “Now it’s time to go back, it’s time to throw on my sneakers, it’s time to just really get bossy for a couple of seconds,” said Ciara.

The 25 year old first came to national attention in 2004, with her 3x platinum debut album Goodies which spawned the #1 hits “Goodies,” “1,2 Step” featuring Missy Elliot and “Oh” featuring Ludacris. She followed up with her platinum-certified sophomore album in 2006, Ciara: The Evolution, which contained her #1 hit “Promise” and the provocative “Like A Boy.” Since hitting the music scene at 18-years old, Ciara has continuously topped the charts and earned accolades as an all-around entertainer. In addition, Ciara recently partnered with the VH1 Save the Music Foundation as an Ambassador to assist the organization with its goals of restoring instrumental music education programs in America’s public schools and raising awareness about the importance of music education.

Music Feed: R. Kelly Vs. Avant

R. Kelly and Avant are both releasing new albums just one week apart. R. Kelly's "Love Letter" will be released on December 14 while Avant's 'The Letter" will arrive on December 21. What I find interesting is that both album titles contain the word "letter". Coincidence or not?

Well for starters both singers hail from Chicago. Avant's "The Letter" was supposed to be out a few months ago but was pushed back. I even think his album had a different title at one point. Now in no way shape or form am I promoting a rivalry; I just noticed how odd it was that they both have albums coming out with the same "letter" title.

R. Kelly's "Love Letter" is his latest album and it pays homage to music of the 50s and 60s as evident on his first single; "When A Woman Loves". I don't even remember what Avant's first single is but I'm sure his album won't be an ode to 50s and 60s music.

So which album will you all be getting or checking for, for that matter? R. Kelly or Avant?

Drake Already Planning New Album!

Who knew? Drake is already planning his second album only months after his debut; "Thank Me Later" was released. The rapper/singer hopes to work with the legendary DJ Premier. There's no word yet if this will go down or any additional guests who will appear on the album. I can take a wild guess though and say that the Cash Money/Young Money click will be heavily involved.

I might of been the only one who didn't get into Drake's album like that but I liked some songs here and there. One of my favorites though is "Karaoke"; that was my ring tone for a short time; well it still is.

I just read that singer Ne-Yo and his girlfriend are now proud parents of a healthy baby girl; Madilyn Grace Smith. Congrats to both parents!

Ne-Yo's new album, "LibraScale" will be in stores and online November 22. Make sure you check it out! It's a really good album in my opinion.

The word is that Rihanna will release the Ester Dean-penned song; "S&M" as the next single from her new album, "Loud" in stores and online November 16. The song is the opening number on the new album.

Rihanna's most recent single; "What's My Name" featuring Drake is currently the #1 single in America. Does that surprise you though? Rihanna; at this point in her career is virtually unstoppable.

Game Wants To Reunite With G-Unit!

It looks like Game is back up to his old tricks again. What tricks might you add? Calling on or out G-Unit members for publicity. The rapper wants to reunite with 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, and Lloyd Banks; which may not be a bad idea at this point. I wonder is it since Game's album; "The R.E.D. Album" has been on hold.

At this point I think all the members of G-Unit are pretty much over Game. He should just focus on himself.

The ongoing speculation and debate regarding Michael Jackson's vocals on his new album, "Michael" continues. I haven't heard the single, "Breaking News" but producers who have worked with him(like Teddy Riley) claims its Michael. Sony also hired some musicologist who did some type of test to determine it was indeed Michael. Even his family says its not him. Meanwhile I read that the pre-orders are up to 3.2 million on Amazon.com! Wow!

This is crazy! Why would Sony do such a thing like have someone elses' vocals instead of Mike's. I would think they have plenty of music in their vaults they could of contributed if the subjected music is indeed false or performed by someone else.

So I'm happy to announce that the beef between MC Hammer and Jay-Z has abruptly ended. I know this sounds strange but Hammer was offended by some lines Jay-Z spat on Kanye Wests' "So Appalled" song which appears on his new album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy".

Well good for you men. I would expect these two to patch it up quick because they are two grown ass men.

I haven't read the reasoning behind the album's title but I'm eager to find out. Personally I always thought "Breaking Point" was a good title but who am I? Music Feed: Hurricane Kanye

Kanye West is nothing if not outspoken and controversial. With his new album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" in stores and online on November 22; Kanye's buzz has reached a fever pitch. Over the last few weeks there has been an alarming amount of news coverage concerning Kanye West. I may of not captured every moment but I try my darnest. From his rants on twitter to his beefs with U.S. Presidents; no one is safe from Kanye's wrath of madness and frustration.

As I write this I'm watching "Showbiz Tonight" and they were just talking about Kanye West and that inspired this post. I'm thinking Kanye has a chance at hitting a million in his first week with the new album based on all the publicity he is getting. Where do I start?

First the naked pics leaked out or should I say the semi nude. I never read or heard anything about his response to those but some people say his ex Amber Rose was behind that. I doubt it.

Second his beef with two US Presidents is history itself. The statements made about George Bush not caring about black folks and being called a "jackass" by Barack Obama. Crazy right? Kanye appeared on "The Today Show" and somewhat apologized for his comments towards Bush and then I heard he got on twitter and sort of recanted and appeared frustrated. Typical of Kanye right?

Well then again these are things we've come to known Kanye for. Nothing surprises us much anymore. I'm looking forward to his new album and I have read good things about it.

Music Feed: 50 Cent's R&B Collaborations

I've noticed over the last month or so the increasing number of R&B flavored collaborations 50 Cent has taken part in. He is definitely expanding his repertoire from rap mogul and movie star to getting down with some of R&B's newest faces and legendary stars. Some you may of heard and some you might not of.

Format, El DeBarge featuring 50 Cent

You can look forward to hearing this song on El DeBarge's new album, "Second Chance" in stores and online November 30.

Down On Me, Jeremih featuring 50 Cent
This song leaked out a little while ago before Jeremih's "All About You" album leaked. The response to it was favorable but me, myself I didn't care much for it.

Let's Get It In, Lloyd featuring 50 Cent
I think this was one of the more surprising collaborations 50 has done in awhile. What was even more surprising was that it was an artist that was once tied to a label that he despised; The Inc. Since Lloyd is no longer on The Inc. it makes collaborations like this possible.

What's next? 50 collaborating with Ashanti? Well I know The Game has and he was part of G-Unit at one point and the infamous beef. But its good to see artists sweeping such beefs under the rug to get together and collaborate. I think deep down a lot of them always wanted to collaborate anyway.

Kanye West's New Album Gets 5 Star Review!

Kanye West has a lot to be happy about. His new album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" just received a five star review from Rolling Stone magazine. I think besides winning a Grammy; a lot of artists dreaming of releasing an album to five star reviews. Kanye West's new album will be in stores and online November 22. I have read that the album has leaked out but its only the clean version.

I am looking forward to Kanye's new album and I've been pretty good about not spoiling myself with all the leaked tracks.

Rihanna continues her hot streak as her newest single, "What's My Name" featuring Drake is the new #1 single in the country. This comes on the heels of Rihanna releasing her newest album, "Loud" in stores and online November 16. Like Kanye West's album; "Loud" has leaked out online.

At this point Rihanna is pretty much unstoppable and is now a certified hit maker. I don't think she can go wrong at this point.

Good news! Monica returns to twitter but I was never quite sure why she left. I thought it was just some ignorant fans but turns out she had a stalker. Since then the stalker has been arrested and Monica is free to resume her activity on twitter. Exciting huh?

As far as her album; "Still Standing" which has sold about 520K units to date; the single "Here I Am Remix" with Trey Songz is supposed to be released. After I heard it a few days ago, I feel they should keep it. I don't think she needs him on her single since they toured together and the song was perfect the way it was. I also hope she releases more singles like "Stay Or Go" or "One In A Lifetime".

Janet Jackson Reveals New Book Cover!

I've heard a lot of talk about it particularly from Janet and for a moment I didn't think it would materialize but it is here. Janet's "True You" book details Janet's ups and down in her weight and everyday struggle with depression and more. The book is not exactly a memoir but pretty close to it.

Janet recently spoke about the book that will be out in January on "Larry King Live" when she was promoting her most recent movie, "For Colored Girls" in theaters now.

Bow Wow Gets Personal On Twitter Account!

Bow Wow will release his new album, "Who Is Shad Moss?" in 2011. Meanwhile the rapper drew some attention to followers on twitter when he spoke about suicide. It just goes to show that stars are human and they do go through things. They are no perfect. I was kind of surprised though to learn that he felt like this though.

Lloyd Banks nearly quit rapping! Can you imagine? Some people could probably care less either way. I'm not the biggest fan but he is alright in my book. After the passing of his father, the G-Unit emcee didn't feel inspired to rap anymore. Thanks to pal 50 Cent the emcee pressed on and now we have "The Hunger For More 2" to look forward to when it hits stores on November 23. Be on the look out for that!

R. Kelly returns to the music scene with his new album, "Love Letter" in stores and online on December 14. The album features the first single, "When A Woman Loves". The second single is the title track. The album is described as ode to music of the 50s and 60s. Make sure you check out the new album!

There's the album cover of the new R. Kelly album floating around and once I find the proper link to it; I will post it.

Kandi Reveals New Album Cover!

|

Kandi goes for a sultry and classy look on the cover of her new album; "Kandi Koated". It is the album that Kandi has been diligently working on for the last two seasons of "The Real Housewives Of Atlanta". Now on December 14, Kandi will finally reveal her second solo work. The album will feature the first single, "Leave U" and the video leaked a few weeks ago. The album will also include the song; "I Just Know" which you may of heard on "Housewives"; that song stood out to me and showed Kandi's growth as an artist and songwriter.

Album Spotlight: 702 - Star

|

702 released their third and final album, "Star" in 2003. The album's first single was the title track which featured The Clipse. The song was produced by The Neptunes as was the second single the unforgettable, "I Still Love You". Unfortunately the song didn't take off like it should of and the album pretty much went downhill from there.

There are a lot of great songs on here and the album is actually a hidden gem in my opinion.

Some of my favorite songs include: "I Still Love You", "Reality", "Feelings", "Trouble", "Stringing Me Along", "Places" and many more.

Throwback Video: Debelah Morgan - Dance With Me

Blink and you might of missed Debelah Morgan's hit; "Dance With Me". While this version isn't my favorite; I highly favor the remix which is much faster in tempo.

Keri Hilson Readies New Album Release!

Keri Hilson will release her new album, "No Boys Allowed" on December 21. The album will be lead by the single, "The Way You Love Me". A video was recently shot for the song produced by Polow Da Don. The video will likely be a star studded event featuring appearances from Rick Ross, Faith Evans, and Laurie Ann Gibson.

Chris Brown will release his newest mixtape offering, "In My Zone 2" on Black Friday! For those who don't know what Black Friday is; it is the Friday that follows Thanksgiving. It is one of the busiest shopping days of the year and the official start to the holiday shopping season.

Judging from my little time I spent in a few stores yesterday; I will say the holiday shopping season is well under way. Plus it didn't help that it was Saturday so the stores were naturally busy.

There is a lot of speculation going on that the new Michael Jackson song; "Breaking News" is not him but someone else. Michael's family and even his own kids thinks its not him. His label Sony insists that Michael is indeed the voice on the recording. "Breaking News" is the first single from the upcoming album; "Michael" in stores and online December 14.

I'm wondering is this a publicity stunt in a way? It just seems odd. Maybe Sony did hire someone to do some backing vocals on the song that sounds ironically like Michael; you never know. So now I'm wondering how this album will be received when it comes out.

Mariah Carey - Oh Santa - Video

Mariah Carey releases the debut video for her new Christmas album, "Merry Christmas II You" in stores now. The album is estimated to sell between 50-60K units in its first week; that's good for a Christmas album and especially since the holiday season hasn't officially started. Though I couldn't tell when I went in the stores over the weekend.

I'm not sure how long ago this was taped but Mariah doesn't really look pregnant in the video. I mean I know Mariah is a master of hiding and making herself appear thinner than normal. I notice also there are a lot of long shots of her figure and not a lot of close ups of her belly. I think you all get the point I'm trying to make. I think I'm ranting too much now so I will stop!

Samme - Round 2 - Video

Sammie is back with a new song and video. The video is presented through the wonderful folks at Worldstarhiphop.com. I'm not sure if Sammie has an album or mixtape in the works but its safe to assume that he does. When I find out more info about his upcoming projects; I will let you all know.

I see Sammie is going through that phase that most teenage stars go through. They feel a need to become overtly sexual showing folks that their grown up. We've seen it many times over the years and Sammie is just the latest in a long line.

Music Biz:
Swizz Beats To Become A Professor!

Swizz Beatz is getting a late start to the school year. He was recently named NYU's first producer-in-residence at the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at the Tisch School of the Arts. The star producer will provide students with one-on-one sessions, group lectures and mentoring.

รข€¨For any student hoping to break into the business, this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Just think of the invaluable advice to be soaked up and don't even get us started on the potential guest lecturers: wifey Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, etc.

On the flip side, let's hope he's giving the students their money's worth and sharing the difficulties of breaking into the business and his own hardships he faced trying to get started. Now, if NYU can get Beyonce to do dance lessons and Jennifer Hudson to do voice lessons they may be on to something... What star would you want to take lessons from?
