Kelly Price Returns With New Album!

It's been awhile since we've had an album from Kelly Price. At one time she was part of a group project; The Queen Project which featured singers Deborah Cox and Tamia. Since that project has stalled, Kelly has forged forward with her next solo endeavor. Read more below about Kelly's upcoming album as well as Nicki Minaj's past jobs and Ciara's new album release!

Grammy nominated R&B/Gospel singer Kelly Price is gearing up to release her much-anticipated sixth album, Kelly, February 8, 2011 via Sang Girl/My Block Records. The set is led by the first single, “Tired,” recently impacted radio, reaching a Top 30 spot at Urban AC this week.

“Tired” was written by Kelly Price, produced by Shep Crawford and inspired by a creative heart-to-heart Price shared with fellow musician and past collaborator, R. Kelly. The song sheds light on the social ills that were not only causing her distress at the time, but also seemed to be plaguing the world as a whole. The album will feature additional production by Warryn Campbell and Jazz Nixon.

Kelly Price made her introduction to the world in 1998 with the double-platinum debut, ‘Soul of a Woman.’ Her first single, "Friend of Mine," was a record-breaking single that made history as the first to garner the #1 spot on the singles chart without an accompanying video clip--a rare feat during the era when music videos were the driving force of popular culture.

She returned to center stage three years later with the platinum-plus seller, Mirror, Mirror, led by her remake of the R&B classic, "As We Lay," and followed up with the gold-selling holiday collection, One Family: A Christmas Album in 2001. Three years after releasing her fourth album, Priceless, she returned to her roots for This Is Whom I Am, a live gospel album recorded at her church home in Long Island.
Nicki Minaj Talks About Career Before Rap!
Queens, New York rapper Nicki Minaj will cover next week's issue of Billboard magazine, just as her new debut album Pink Friday heads to stores.

In the interview with Billboard, Nicki Minaj shares several details about her life before she was a world famous rapper.

"I’d been fired like 15 times because I had a horrible attitude," Nicki Minaj stated. "I worked at Red Lobster before that and I chased a customer out of the restaurant once so I could stick my middle finger up at her and demand that she give me my pen back. I swear to God I was bad."

According to Nicki Minaj, she started using her various accents shortly after she started to gain buzz on the New York rap circuit, in order to distance herself from other emcees.

“When I started rapping, people were trying to make me like the typical New York rapper, but I’m not that,” Minaj says. “No disrespect to New York rappers, but I don’t want people to hear me and know exactly where I’m from. I wanted the album to be universal and versatile. It really feels like it speaks for every one of my personalities.”

Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday is due in stores on November 23rd.
Ciara Finally Readies New Album!
Grammy Award winner and multi-platinum recording artist Ciara gets back to basics pursuing her creative vision on Basic Instinct. Executive produced by Ciara, Tricky Stewart, The Dream and Mark Pitts, the singer’s anticipated fourth LaFace/Jive Records album is due in stores December 14!

Initially heightening anticipation for Basic Instinct was the sexy, sensual first single “Ride”. The mid-tempo track, produced by Tricky Stewart and The Dream, features frequent Ciara collaborator Ludacris, who adds a devilishly clever verse to the song. “Ride” rolled out several impressive stats. The single peaked to No. 3 on the Urban Mainstream chart and marked the singer/dancer’s twelfth top 10 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop radio airplay charts as well as the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart. On the Rhythm chart, the track peaked to No. 11 while accumulating combined digital and mobile sales of more than 680k to date. The sultry video—set off by Ciara’s unparalleled, lithe dance moves—boasts more than 15 million YouTube views.

The album marks Ciara’s return to her signature style of uptempo dance grooves. “Now it’s time to go back, it’s time to throw on my sneakers, it’s time to just really get bossy for a couple of seconds,” said Ciara.

The 25 year old first came to national attention in 2004, with her 3x platinum debut album Goodies which spawned the #1 hits “Goodies,” “1,2 Step” featuring Missy Elliot and “Oh” featuring Ludacris. She followed up with her platinum-certified sophomore album in 2006, Ciara: The Evolution, which contained her #1 hit “Promise” and the provocative “Like A Boy.” Since hitting the music scene at 18-years old, Ciara has continuously topped the charts and earned accolades as an all-around entertainer. In addition, Ciara recently partnered with the VH1 Save the Music Foundation as an Ambassador to assist the organization with its goals of restoring instrumental music education programs in America’s public schools and raising awareness about the importance of music education.
