Foxy Brown New Lil' Kim Dis Record Cancelled?

Foxy Brown was supposed to drop a new dis record aimed at Lil' Kim; "Christmas Massacre" but the song has yet to leak. Production company Platinum Camp claims to be in possession of the song. The song was set to leak out on Christmas Eve during a planned Foxy performance but it never happened.

Foxy took her twitter account and personally apologized to the fans for the concert ruckus. She also shared her love for all her fans and spoke of an appearance on New York's Hot97 next week. Well that remains to be seen and "Christmas Massacre" remains to be heard.

Monica is wasting no time following up her gold album, "Still Standing" by releasing a new album next year entitled, "New Life". The singer is working with Tank among others. I don't know much else info on the album as of now but I do like the title.

Clearly Monica and J Records have moved on from the Grammy nominated; "Still Standing" album but I felt the album had at least two more singles.

It looks like a new twitter beef has popped off this time with Raz B and Chris Brown. I don't know the whole story but I saw a few tweets where Raz B made a comment in regards to Chris Brown and Eric Benet trying to get over on intelligent women such as Rihanna and Halle Berry. I also read that producer Polow Da Don weighed in on the issue but I could care less what he has to say and you all should too!

Raz B needs to sit down though! He is doing way too much at this point. Not to say he can't express his opinions but every time we hear about you; your getting at a celebrity or putting someones business out.

Throwback Video: Junior Mafia - Get Money

Before Young Money, there was Junior Mafia. I'm not sure if that's a fair comparison but I say that for obvious reasons being that Kim was apart of Junior Mafia. After Biggie's death; Kim had a huge falling out with the Junior Mafia click which resulted in her going to jail for perjury.

"Get Money" was one of the few hits from Junior Mafia who released their first and only album; "Conspiracy" in 1995.

Music Feed: 2010 Album Covers Revisited

Check out some of my favorite album covers this year and some of the more talked about ones.

|

I remember when I first saw the cover for Tank's recently released album, "Now Or Never" and I figured how weird is that? Others liked it but it was still puzzling to me. I will say it reminds me of an album cover from the 70s and probably because its so intimate and up close and personal.

|

I didn't like the music on Faith's album but I had a thing for the cover.

|

Trina went totally left with this album cover cause now she doesn't even look like a female rapper anymore but that's not a bad thing. She looked more like a Beyonce or Rihanna.

|

Everyone was curious to see what Nicki Minaj's album cover what look like and just as everyone expected; it was completely different from what's expected of a female rapper album cover.

|

Kanye West released a few alternate covers of "My Beautiful..." album but the one above was the standard one. The rapper took to twitter and lamented on Wal-Mart banning the album cover.

Music Biz:
G-Dep Confesses To Murder!

Former Bad Boy rapper G-Dep is being held without bail in a New York jail, after admitting to murdering a man during a robbery attempt in October of 1993.

The extraordinary tale began on Wednesday (December 15th), when G-Dep, born Trevell Coleman, walked into the 25th Precinct and admitted to killing a man named John Henkel in the James Weldon Johnson housing projects in Queens.

According to the New York Post, G-Dep walked in and confessed to the murder after 17-years of living with the burred. He told police officers he rolled up on Henkel on Park Ave and 114th street and announced a robbery.

When Henkel resisted, G-Dep shot the man three times in the chest and throw his gun into the East River.

G-Dep, 36, had been arrested over 25 times for a variety of charges, including drugs, burglary and now, murder.

The rapper released one album for Bad Boy titled Child of the Ghetto, which produced the hit single "Let's Get It."

G-Dep was charged with murder and is being held without bail.

Album Review: Kandi - Kandi Koated

|

Kandi opens up her second solo album up with an intro dedicated to displaying her beautiful harmonies if I must say so myself. I will say I was pleasantly surprised with this album overall. Upon first listen, I wasn't very impressed but I took a second listen and here we have the review for the latest album from "The Real Housewives Of Atlanta" star Kandi.

Second track, "I Want You" starts things off properly and puts the album in a good direction. The songs is instantly catchy and you will find yourself bobbing your head to it sorta like I do now when I listen to it. "The More I Try" is one of the album's many ballads and one of the better ballads of the album. "I Just Know" was first heard on "Housewives" and immediately stood out to me and shows the growth in Kandi's vocals.

Second single; "Me & U" features Ne-Yo on backing vocals and is easily one of the album's highlights. As of this week the song debuts at #89 on the R&B charts which incidentally debut single, "Leave U" peaked at.

Kandi's daughter; Riley shows up on "Riley's Interlude" and former group member, Tiny appears on "Superwoman".

Make sure you check out Kandi's album. It's one of the better R&B albums of this year if I can say so myself.

Music Feed: 2010: A Look Back Part 3

These celebrities kept us talking all throughout the year 2010. Check them out!

Swizz Beats:
While we were still gagging over his relationship with Alicia Keys; the couple gave birth to a baby boy; Egypt. In addition to that Swizz Beats' ex claimed that the producer was a deadbeat dad. On the music front Swizz Beats produced one of the more memorable songs of 2010; Nicki Minaj's "Roman's Revenge" featuring Eminem.

Jennifer Lopez:
Jennifer Lopez reemerged in 2010 with her movie; "The Back Up Plan". She released a few songs that didn't quite take off and signed to Def Jam. More importantly she became the new judge on "American Idol" after much speculation.

Kelly Rowland:
Kelly Rowland was supposed to release her new album this year but after many setbacks; it was pushed back. The singer did make some appearance on best friend Brandy's show; "Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business". She constantly shot down rumors of a Destiny's Child reunion all the while having it been revealed that she owed a lot of money in back taxes.

Kandi:
We see her every Sunday on BRAVO's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta". We seen her record her new album, "Kandi Koated" which is in stores and online now. After some comments made on BRAVO's "Watch What Happens Live" regarding Usher in bed; ex-wife Tameka Foster came for her throat engaging in one of many twitter beefs this year.

Music Feed: 2010: A Look Back Part 2

All the juicy, headline grabbing news stories are here and the celebrities that stayed in the news all year round. Check it out!

Lawsuits:
  • Erykah Badu fined for appearing naked in video for "Window Seat".
  • Kelis collects spousal support from Nas after divorce.
  • T-Pain sued over not giving songwriting credit.
  • Method Man pleads guilty for tax evasion.
  • Drake sued by Playboy over "Best I Ever Had".
  • Fantasia is sued by married lover's wife!
  • Brandy sued by DJ.
  • Foxy Brown skips out on club performance.
  • Kelly Rowland owes back taxes.
Fantasia:
2010 was another unforgettable year for the former American Idol winner. Aside from releasing new music; she found herself in the center of a lawsuit against the wife of her married lover. In addition to that; Fantasia attempted suicide and was briefly hospitalized. She also admitted to becoming pregnant but aborting the child. Much of this drama would play out before our eyes on her VH1 reality TV show; "Fantasia: For Real".

Usher:

Shortly before the release of his "Raymond v. Raymond" album, Usher was robbed of a million dollars. Apparently the singer had a million dollars sitting in his car. If I'm not mistaken I believe the singer had some music stolen as well which explained for some of the early leaks. It seems as if with each album, Usher is part of some publicity stunt and it actually works to his advantage. Usher's "Raymond v. Raymond" featured an array of hit singles including; "Lil' Freak" featuring Nicki Minaj, "Hey Daddy(Daddy's Home)" featuring Plies, and "There Goes My Baby".

Ray J:
Ray J is not only a reality TV star via VH1's "Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business" but he is also always in the middle of some feud. Some of the former contestants of Ray J's "For The Love Of Ray J" called him "gay" and those rumors continued when Raz B leaked out that video phone conversation. Ray J was also accused of being in the center of the Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj beef which he vehemently denied.

Rihanna:

Rihanna had another hit filled year with two albums, "Rated R" and this year's, "Loud". Her hit singles included; "Rude Boy", "Hard", "Only Girl(In The World)", and "What's My Name" featuring Drake. There were also a few down times where the star was briefly hospitalized after collapsing on stage.

T.I. & Tiny:
T.I. and Tiny finally got married among other things. They also got arrested for their drug bust. T.I. was in and out of jail all year and Tiny was defending him or on her own reality TV show; "Tiny & Toya. T.I. released his latest album, "No Mercy" to not much fanfare but decent numbers(160K). T.I. also missed out on the monster instrumental that serves Lil' Wayne on his newest song; "6'7'"(which I haven't heard yet but read plenty about). Tiny resurfaced on friend and former group member; Kandi's new album, "Kandi Koated" on the song "Superwoman".

2010: A Look Back Part 1

Part 1 of the most talked about headlines, stories, and celebrities.

Arrests:
It seems like with each passing year, the number of celebrities double; everything from violating probation to getting caught in prostitution stings. Celebs are not perfect! Are they?

  • Lloyd Banks arrested for robbery and assault.
  • D'Angelo arrested for solicitation.
  • Flesh-N-Bone of Bone Thugs arrested.
  • Foxy Brown arrested for violation of order protection.
  • Lyfe Jennings sentenced to three years in jail.
  • Foxy Brown skips out on club performance.
  • Ja Rule arrested for gun possession.
  • Gucci Mane arrested for involvement in drug sting.
  • T.I. arrested again...and I forget why!
  • DMX arrested for violating probation.
Pregnancies:
Mariah Carey announced her pregnancy and was pretty mum about it. During her Christmas performance for the President and First Lady, she revealed that she was pregnant with twins. Husband Nick Cannon confirmed the news as well.

Alicia Keys didn't let her surprising pregnancy stop her from performing or jumping on pianos like she did at this years BET awards. The singer gave birth to a baby boy; Egypt with boyfriend Swizz Beats.

Fantasia admitted to having an abortion during her tryst with her married lover.

Mariah Carey:
Mariah celebrated her 20th anniversary in the music industry and it was 20 years ago when her self-titled debut album was released. I still remember seeing the video for "Vision Of Love" and wondering was she black or white?

Mariah Carey stayed in the news for 2010 even if she didn't intend for it to be that way. At the beginning of the year she was still pushing her gold album, "The Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel". Who could forget the video footage of Mariah Carey at an awards ceremony drunk during the press junket for "Precious".

Months later it was revealed that she would star in Tyler Perry's new movie "For Colored Girls" but shortly before filming she dropped out. It would later be revealed by Carey herself that she was pregnant. At the end of the year Mariah Carey released her second Christmas album, "Merry Christmas II You" which is a hit.

Lil' Kim Speaks On Nicki Minaj Beef!

At this point what can really be said about the beef between Lil' Kim & Nicki Minaj. To be honest I'm pretty tired of hearing and reading about it. Lil' Kim recently appeared on the radio speaking to Angie Martinez. Angie; ironically interviewed Nicki just weeks ago invited Kim to share her side of the story.

Having not spoken to each other in some time, there was a lot to be said. Kim didn't exactly reveal anything new(to me) being that I heard a similar interview with MissJones. She did say a new album will surface at the top of next year. She also mentioned a video for her Nicki Minaj dis "Black Friday" will be released.

In other Nicki Minaj news, her ex-manager doesn't like her debut album, "Pink Friday". If you were unaware her ex-manager is Waka Flaka Flame's mother. Whether she likes it or not is one thing but I like and so do a lot of other people. "Pink Friday" just crossed the coveted 500,000 mark signaling a gold certified album. Congrats to her!

Drake recently revealed that he talks heavily and shares everything with singer; Trey Songz. Who would of thought? Seems like their BFF's.

DMX Arrested...Again!

The Maricopa County Superior Court revoked the rap star’s probation from 2009, stemming from a conviction on fraud charges, identity theft, assault and a variety of other misdemeanor charges. DMX, born Earl Simmons, will be sent back to prison for a full year, after he was arrested on November 18th by officers who arrested the rapper for failing to check in with probation officers and abusing prescription drugs without a prescription.

DMX tested positive for cocaine and oxycontin and admitted to using drinking alcohol, another violating of the terms of his probation. DMX will spend his time in Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s infamous Tent City jail, where inmates are forced to wear pink, stripped jail suits.

Mariah Carey Pregnant With Twins!

As Mariah Carey nears her due date(whatever day that is) we continue to learn more and more details about her pregnancy. Apparently Mariah Carey let it slip to the President and First Lady when inquired about her pregnancy that she was pregnant with twins. Husband Nick Cannon confirmed the rumors. Congrats to the couple!

Just when you thought the beef between Ja Rule & 50 Cent was over, its not. Due to Ja Rule's recent indictment, 50 Cent got on twitter and ridiculed his nemesis. The insults just lead to a back and forth taunt between the two emcees. Grow up guys!

I just read that Kanye West and Cam'ron has patched up their beef. I remember reading they had a beef but I was never sure of the origin. Anyway its good to know they patched it up because most beef between rappers is usually pretty senseless anyway.

Besides Kanye and Cam'ron make good music together particularly "Down & Out" which Kanye produced by Cam for his "Purple Haze" album.

Music Feed: Who's That Girl?

All the song titles below feature names of women. Check out the list!

Sara Smile, Hall & Oates
This is just one of the many hits from the famed blue eyed soul duo. The song has been covered by the trio After 7.

Darling Nikki, Prince
I can't say I ever heard this song but I have heard of the outrage behind it. Its salacious lyrics can be heard on Prince's 1984 album, "Purple Rain".

Dirty Diana, Michael Jackson
This is one of my favorite videos from Michael Jackson and I also thought the song was about Diana Ross but Michael cleared up that rumor eons ago.

Billie Jean, Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson's ode to a groupie was one of the many hits from his classic album, "Thriller".

Sally, Sam Sparro
Australia's own Sam Sparro penned an ode to a stripper who gyrates hard for her money. The song just happens to be one of my favorite songs of all time too.

Kimberly, Marques Houston
Marques Houston sang about a girl named Kimberly and at one point people thought it was about Kim Kardashian; of all people right? Well whoever this Kimberly was, she definitely left a lasting impression on Marques.

Joanna, Kool & The Gang

This is one of the many classic songs from the famed group. If you ever catch those infomercials that run on TV late at night, you might hear this song.

Joanne, Trina & Tamera

Do you remember the famed trio who were sisters of singer Jesse Powell? Well "Joanne" as they call her was a man stealing tramp!

Brenda's Got A Baby, 2Pac

I think I remember this video more than anything and the message behind it.

Beanie Sigel Sounds Off On Damon Dash!

Earlier this week Philly rapper Beanie Sigel and radio personality Star put their personal differences aside to talk music, Kanye West, Damon Dash, and more on the Star & Bucwild Show on Philadelphia’s Power 100.3.

Shortly after Star mentioned Beanie’s loyalty to Damon Dash the rapper revealed that he has no loyalty to Dash and that he’s owed millions of dollars by him.

“I ain’t loyal to Dame. Dame owe me some money,” Beanie explained. “My own lawyer found about 11-million that Dame stole from me…He filing bankruptcy. I’ll spend a million dollars just to say a person owe me? I have a piece of paper that say he owe me some money. Who wants to go through that?”

Beanie also referred to Dash’s support during his legal problems as a “façade” and nothing more than “smoke and mirrors.”

Beanie didn’t have too much to say when asked about fellow rapper Kanye West, but had plenty to say about ex drug dealer Tommy Hill.

“It’s a known fact that he’s a rat. We was in the same jail, Fairton,” said Beanie when asked about Hill. “I was in the hole and he was on the other side in protective custody. He’s a rat.”
Chrisette Michele, Def Jam Sued!
A lawsuit against Def Jam involving R&B singer Chrisette Michele has been cleared to move forward through the New York judicial system. Judges for the New York Supreme Court rejected the label's request to dismiss the lawsuit.

Douglas "Biggs" Ellison filed a lawsuit against Island Def Jam Music Group, Shalik Berry (A&R) and Michele's parents Lynette and Lemuel Payne in June of 2008, alleging that all parties mentioned engaged in unlawful business practices in an attempt to free Michele of her exclusive contracts with his Queens-based production company, Four Kings Productions Inc. Michele herself initiated the litigation three years ago when she filed a lawsuit against Four Kings, claiming Ellison, the CEO, embezzled money from her Def Jam contract and harassed her.

"As soon as the artist’s mother saw that Chrisette was receiving money, all a direct result of the efforts of the production company under its contracts with the artist, Lynette Payne quit her job as a teacher and, in willful disregard of the artist’s contractual obligations to Four Kings, usurped management functions regarding her daughter’s newly found success, in an effort to keep the money in the family," Ellison claims in the lawsuit.

Ellison and Michele's business relationship was also romantic. Ellison is seeking $20 million in damages.

Music Feed: 2010 Music Videos Revisited

There aren't many videos released nowadays that manage to keep my attention not even for the four or so minutes their allotted. However their always manages to be a handful of videos that do catch my attention for whatever reason. The videos listed below are some of my favorite videos of the year or some videos that was a big deal in 2010. Check it out!

She's Single, Raheem DeVaughn
This was one of the few videos I remember being a Trending Topic on twitter. The video features Raheem and his cheating lover sneaking to a hotel and getting it on. The video was very explicit and featured a lot of too hot for TV type action.

Ride, Ciara featuring Ludacris

Ciara's video for "Ride" was so racy that BET banned it and that decision in itself caused outrage. However that decision made people want to see the video more and they did via YouTube, VEVO, and other media outlets.

Window Seat, Erykah Badu

When I first saw Erykah Badu's video for "Window Seat", I had no idea what I was in for but you never do with Erykah Badu. I was watching intently as each article of clothing was removed from her body. Bystanders watched as she walked gallantly down the street before revealing her nude body.

The video caused a lot of outrage as well and Erykah Badu found herself find for indecent exposure or was it something else? I can't remember. Easily one of the better and more artistic videos of the year.

Acapella, Kelis
What I like most about this video was the look of it. It's everything you'd come to expect in a Kelis video. One of the big kickers about this video is that Kelis' reveals her newborn baby with Nas.

Up Out My Face, Mariah Carey Featuring Nicki Minaj
Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj got all dolled up for this video which looked like an ad from Target.

Can't Be Friends, Trey Songz
Aside from being one of my favorite songs of the year, Trey Songz' "Can't Be Friends" video was emotionally charged and displayed the singer in a way I haven't seen him in a long time.

Only Girl(In The World), Rihanna
It was too long ago when I first saw this video. I don't know how I missed it before. Besides that fact I really like the video and Rihanna is truly growing into her own I see.

Telephone, Lady GaGa & Beyonce
This video was a really big deal upon the time of its release. It was one of those monumental moments that you experience every blue moon. It's like a spectacle. It's like when "Thriller" was released and featured a lot of those various elements falling into the category of mini movie. It was every entertaining and it featured a cameo from Tyrese who's now giving love advice I see. Seriously he is!

Runaway, Kanye West
Similar to "Telephone", Kanye Wests' "Runaway" video was a spectacle in itself airing specifically on BET, VH1, and MTV as a mini movie and one of twitter's many Trending Topics this year.

POWER, Kanye West
Kanye West's video for "POWER" came and went and if you blinked you would of missed it. It clocked in no more than two minutes.

Music Feed: 2010 Songs Revisited

There were plenty of songs released in 2010, and their still songs being released as the year wraps up. So what songs impacted me in 2010? Well there were a few and I won't go into details about every one of them. For the last 11 months though I did keep track of every song that stood out to me and was an instant favorite of mine. Check that list out!

Shakin' It For Daddy; Robin Thicke featuring Nicki Minaj

I think this was one of the first songs of the year that I really liked. This was also one of Nicki Minaj's first big feature and her guest verses(as always) were very memorable, catchy, and funny.

I can still remember when Robin Thicke premiered this song on "The Rickey Smiley Morning Show" and said this was his first single; though it ended up being "Sex Therapy". When he played the song it was a little different from the version we hear today but its still easily one of my favorite songs this year.

Making Love (Into The Night); Usher
This song was at the tail-end of Usher's "Raymond v. Raymond" album and one of my favorite songs this year. It's a certain feeling I get when I hear this song and its a good feeling; its like one of those songs that great to listen to especially at night.

By Myself; Trina
This was one of my favorite songs off of Trina's "Amazin'" album. Why did I like it so much? Because its short and sweet. It's Trina's attempt at singing or I guess you would say talk-singing. She does throw in a rap for good measure though. The song is instantly catchy and would of made a great radio song. Why it wasn't released was beyond me!

Find Your Love; Drake

Drake's second single off his platinum album, "Thank Me Later" didn't feature him rapping but singing and its easily one of my favorite songs of the year.

Un-Thinkable(I'm Ready); Alicia Keys
This was one of the more memorable songs released this year. It also happened to reach #1 on the R&B charts and stayed there for quite some time(I think it was about roughly nine weeks). The mood of the song is what makes this song so special and no wonder why it resonated so perfectly with most people.

Shutterbug; Big Boi
It was a shame this song wasn't received better because it was the perfect single for Big Boi. Thankfully for him, he received a Grammy nomination for it.

Can't Be Friends, Trey Songz
When I first heard this song, it was an instant favorite of mine. I liked it even more when I got wind that my friend liked it too. We would go for one of our infamous joyrides and bang this song and sing our hearts out. Good times!

Now it's like it almost doesn't feel right listening to this song without her; oddly enough.

Roman's Revenge, Nicki Minaj featuring Eminem

I remember when this song was leaked out and was a trending topic on twitter; which is a big deal. The song featured Nicki Minaj's alter-ego Roman Polanski and her taking some not so subtle jabs at Lil' Kim. Everything about the track is epic to me.

Check out the rest of my list of songs that I loved in 2010:
Follow Us, Big Boi
I always liked this song that it eventually became one of my ringtones.
Emergency, Tank
I like the feel of this song and the lyrics.
Gone Already, Faith Evans
I like the production of this song.
Sex Music, Tank
A sensual song that should of been a bigger hit.
Karaoke, Drake
One of my favorite songs from Drake's debut album.
Telekinesis, Ne-Yo
A favorite song of mine from Ne-Yo's "Libra Scale" album.
Who Knew, KeKe Wyatt
I like the feel and production of this song.
Did It On 'Em, Nicki Minaj
Nicki had so many funny lines in this song.
Here I Am, Nicki Minaj
I think I like the production of this song more than anything.

Artist Spotlight: Angelica

Featuring lush orchestration, pop sensibilities and a flawless voice with a nearly unheard-of five-octave range, Angelica’s Remember Who You Are brims with a confidence rarely found in a debut release.

The album’s nine original tracks – including the new single & video You’re My Reflection (www.bit.ly/igeBhL) – are written and produced by Angelica; a welcome anomaly for a genre where outside songwriters and producers are often the norm.

In a truly unique innovation, accompanying the CD is Remember Who You Are – The Story Behind the Song, a beautiful 130-page book that provides an in-depth narrative background on each of the songs and the life experiences that formed them.

The book also serves as a heart wrenching autobiography. Angelica’s personal back-story is in stark contrast to the diva lifestyle often associated with female pop-classical singers. Born and raised in communist Romania, her family lived in extremely modest conditions, under constant threat of government persecution.

Gifted with a natural musical talent and a tireless work ethic, Angelica had the makings of a promising career early on, one that lead to television appearances and non-stop touring. Sadly, her subsequent joy of moving to North America was marred by a painfully difficult and controlling marriage. Angelica was cut off from her loved ones back home and forced to abandon all musical aspirations. As such, the first few years out here saw her alone, discouraged and stripped of all confidence, working as a telemarketer and selling gas door to door.

Over time, Angelica slowly built up the courage and inner strength to leave her marriage, start life over, and begin pursuing her dream of music once again. Which brings us to present day. Remember Who You Are chronicles Angelica’s journey through the darkness into light. This is a rich, personal album of faith, inspiration, willpower and liberation.

This past September, Angelica made her mark on Toronto International Film Festival audiences when she spontaneously decided to sing a few songs outside Yorkville’s Vaticano Restaurant. Literally hundreds of people spilled into the street to watch, prompting the awe-struck police to reluctantly shut things down.

Remember Who You Are is now available for order at Walmart, Borders, & Barnes&Noble, and for download on iTunes.

Music Feed: 2010 Albums Revisited

Summing up 2010 musically, I would say it was a decent year for music. I always feel like each year should get better but it doesn't always work that way. As I have said before; the last year that I really felt there was an overwhelming amount of good music was in 2001. I've yet to see a single calender year top 2001 in terms of good music.

While in my opinion 2010 wasn't full of overwhelmingly good music there was some that existed. I mention those albums below. Check it out!

Raymond vs. Raymond; Usher
Usher's Raymond vs. Raymond was one of the first major releases in 2010 and there was a lot of anticipation around this album as expected. The album was pretty cohesive in my opinion. The songs flowed well and there were multiple hit singles that were spun from this album.

Usher somewhat released "Raymond vs. Raymond" but with a shorter version titled, "Versus" which spunned even more hits that weren't included on the original album.

Passsion Pain & Pleasure, Trey Songz
I was probably the only person not a fan of Trey Songz' "Ready" album but he redeemed himself on "Passion Pain & Pleasure". The album is an instant favorite of mine and I like how the album took on three different themes; those being the title of the album.

Trey is working this album much slower than "Ready" so I can definitely see this one going platinum.

Amazin, Trina
I'm a big fan of Trina so I was anticipating "Amazin'" and everything that came with it. Trina has been pretty consistent with each album and "Amazin'" was no exception.

The album didn't exactly set the charts on fire but she did have a hit single with "Always" featuring Monica.

Lyrics, Donell Jones
This was probably the most surprising album that I liked this year. I wasn't expecting much from this but it is a good album. It flows well and it gives you sort of a late night feel to it. You should check this album out if you haven't.

LibraScale, Ne-Yo
I pretty much turned my back on Ne-Yo albums ago but he redeemed himself with "LibraScale" which was somewhat of a concept album according to the singer. Featuring only 10 tracks on the standard version; each song compliments one another which makes for a vastly thorough R&B/Pop album that shouldn't be skipped.

This won't go down as one of Ne-Yo's biggest albums nor will the singles released from this. Its funny cause a lot of people panned this album and of course I would end up liking it. I'm funny like that!

Pink Friday, Nicki Minaj
I don't think I expected to like Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" album this much. Sure there are some tracks I could do without but overall the album is really good. I think it might throw some people off who were expecting your typical female rapper debut. I kid you not! This is not that album! This is totally different and much more pop oriented but it has its more urban moments exemplified in "Here I Am", "Roman's Revenge", and "Did It On 'Em".

Nicki scored kudos for her huge first week sales even rivaling Missy Elliott and Lauryn Hill.

Honorable Mentions:
  • Love Me Back, Jazmine Sullivan
  • Let Freedom Reign, Chrisette Michele
  • The ArchAndroid, Janelle Monae

Throwback Video: Fantasia - Free Yourself

"Free Yourself" was the title track and 2004 debut from American Idol winner Fantasia. "Free Yourself" was the album's second single and went to #2 on the R&B charts. Its one of my favorite songs by her and it was produced by Missy Elliott.

Music Feed: 2010 Feuds

Why can't we all just get along? Maybe in a perfect world but not even. Take a look at the list of feuds that dominated 2010.

I apologize in advance because some of the origins of the beef has faded from my memory. See I kept a log all year long of each feud as they took place. I guess I should of included more than just the names associated with the feud.

Shyne vs. 50 Cent

Who hasn't 50 Cent beefed with at this point? 50 Cent was taunting Shyne by parodying him and calling him during a video conference that was featured all over the Internet. Some other stuff went down but I can't remember what. I mean this wasn't the most memorable feud but probably one of the more entertaining ones if you followed along.

Nicki Minaj vs. Keys
Keys took a chance by recording a Nicki Minaj dis and uploading it to YouTube. 1,000,000 hits later; Keys briefly becomes one of the most talked about female rappers in awhile probably since...Nicki Minaj.

Fabolous vs. Jim Jones
Hey! I can't even remember why these two were beefing for. If I can't remember I don't think it was that memorable then.

Ciara vs. Keri Hilson
These two singers have been going at it for awhile. Keri Hilson started by talking and singing slickly about Ciara and other singers. Ciara finally responded on her song "U Got Me(Basic Instinct)" and some other songs. The two have since mended their feud by appearing on UStream together. Awww how sweet!

Glasses Malone vs. Ice Cube
I can't remember what this feud was about. Sorry guys! Google it for Christ Sake's!

Lupe Fiasco vs. Alicia Keys vs. Chad Hugo of The Neptunes
Something about a song that had Lupe Fiasco in an uproar...as always! Nothing new there. No wonder that "Lasers" album never saw the day of light! Just kidding! Much respect dawg!

Lil' Kim vs. Nicki Minaj
This was probably one of the more memorable and entertaining feuds this year. It all started when Kim was on a promo tour joined by Ray J who made comments about Nicki Minaj. It didn't help that Kim was chastising Nicki by throwing subliminal shots and tossing colored wigs into her audience.

The war of words would continue through Drake and the songs; "Roman's Revenge" by Nicki Minaj and "Black Friday" by Lil' Kim!

Monica vs. Vivica A. Fox
Monica "Ms. Thang" Arnold got upset with Vivica A. Fox after Vivica dissed her attire she wore at the 2010 BET Awards. Just to let you know that Monica ain't having it.

Fabolous vs. Soulja Boi
I forget what silly nonsense this beef transpired to be but 50 Cent would throw himself in the beef just to keep his name out there.

50 Cent vs. Fabolous
Refer to Fabolous vs. Soulja Boi

Kandi vs. Tameka Foster(Usher's ex)
Tameka Foster's crazy ass got mad at Kandi when Kandi appeared on BRAVO's "What Happens Live" and said she heard good things about Usher in bed. Well apparently Tameka heard those words and took to twitter and the two engaged in a back and forth school girl taunt.

Rick Ross vs. Young Jeezy
I guess I only chose to remember what feuds were most interesting to me. I mean as far as this feud is concerned; I can go out on a limb and say Young Jeezy is jealous of Rick Ross and his success. I mean they are labelmates after all so I can see the jealousy.

Foxy Brown vs. Nicki Minaj
The verdict is still out on this one but I officially upgraded this to a feud after Foxy dropped a dis aimed at Nicki on a remix to Gyptian's "Hold Yuh Remix". In the famous words of Foxy, "I'm the only Trini bitch that can kick yard shit!". I'm not so sure Foxy since Nicki is Trini too. Looks like you won't be the only one dominating that landscape.

So there you have it folks, the feuds of 2010. Hopefully there won't be as many beefs in 2011. But you never know!

Game Wants Refund For Lloyd Banks Album Purchase!

Game is still taunting Lloyd Banks and now he wants his money back for his purchase of Lloyd's Bank recent album, "The Hunger For More 2". I take it Game is just building anticipation for his upcoming album which may or may not see the light of day. I'm not hating cause I'm a fan of Game but not a fan of his antics.

Drake says his label; UniversalMotown/Cash Money doesn't want him recording more than 14 songs for his upcoming album; the follow-up to his "Thank Me Later" album. Drake wants more tracks on the album including interludes, preludes, and things of that matter.

I don't see why its a problem for him to do that. He's a proven artist who has proven himself. All his songs are hits but I thought about it and I realized who his boss is; Sylvia Rhone. She's always trying to mess artists over; just my opinion though.

Wale is in talks to join or has already joined Rick Ross' Maybach Music imprint. So look out for some possible collaborations and more.

Trey Songz' recent album, "Passion, Pain & Pleasure" recently went gold and its his second consecutive gold album; the first being "Ready" which was released last year.

In other Trey Songz news the singer wishes to collaborate with Beyonce and has even reached out to her and husband, Jay-Z. Now that would be interesting I think if it happens.

Brandy's monster hit album, "Never Say Never" delivered a number of hits and "U Don't Know Me(Like U Used To)" was one of the last singles released from the album and probably the least successful; still it is one of my favorite songs from that album. It's funny because afterward I had to listen to "Never Say Never", the title track that comes directly after this song on the album.

You can catch Brandy on her reality TV show, "Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business" on VH1 Sunday nights!

Keri Hilson Visits Chelsea Lately!

Keri Hilson visits "Chelsea Lately" and talks about her sexy image, not dating rappers, her extended family, and her battle with R. Kelly. Her new album, "No Boys Allowed" will be in stores and online December 21.

A little info for those concerned, Keri originally titled her newest album, "No Bullshit Allowed" but changed the album title. I like that title as I do the current one and I also like "Breaking Point" for an album title.

Music Biz:
Lil' Wayne Drops New Single!

Ready for that new Weezy? Barely a month after getting out of jail, Lil Wayne is ending the year on a high note by breaking his silence with the first single off the long-awaited Tha Carter IV. Young Money president Mack Maine has revealed the name of the highly-anticipated track.

The song, titled “6’7”,” will arrive before the year’s end, according to Maine. “We definitely dropping it before the end of the year,” he told MTV News. “We ready to go now; we getting it mixed.”

Maine also hinted that the frenetic banger could feature YM’s newest member, Cory Gunz. “Just make sure you all remember two words: Cory Gunz. Incredible,” he later tweeted.

Wayne’s close associate DJ Scoob Doo previously described the song as a “2010 Version Of A Milli..But On [Steroids].”

In addition to dropping off new music, Wayne will make his return to television by performing “No Love” with Eminem on the December 18 episode of “SNL.”
Aretha Franklin Cancer Battle!
Aretha Franklin's cousin says the ailing legendary singer is "doing better than doctors expected" and expects to be released from the hospital this weekend.

Brenda Corbett tells the Detroit Free Press for a Thursday story that Franklin "has a long life in front of her and will be back in concert, on stage, late spring or early summer."

Franklin announced last week that she had undergone a surgical procedure. Neither she nor her publicist have said what is ailing the 68-year-old Queen of Soul.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he visited Franklin four or five times and her spirits "are high and her faith is strong."

Franklin last month canceled all concert dates and personal appearances through May on doctors' orders.

Music Feed: 2010 Was All About...

As 2010 comes to an end, you will see me looking back on the year that was. This time I profile the artists that dominated 2010 in my opinion. Whether it was their music, the headlines, or the drama; they are the reason 2010 was the way it was; musically speaking anyway. Check out my list!

Raz B
Ever since the departure of B2K, Raz B has been looking for a way to reestablish his self from the group. Well he has found a way to reestablish his self and it may not be in the best light but it kept us entertained all year round.

2010 saw Raz B coming clean about several allegations against his former associates including Ray J, Marques Houston, Chris Stokes, and many more. Given that some of those rumors have always ran rampant, it wasn't hard to dismiss them. Though as you would guess many of those accused of such acts came out swinging and denying everything. If anything Raz B kept us entertained and gagging at his stories, no matter how believable they are or not. Who can forget his taped phone conversation with Ray J and his admission to having sex with Marques Houston?

Monica
Monica came back full force with her gold album, "Still Standing" which was recently nominated for two Grammy's. She also scored two hit singles in the form of "Love All Over Me" and "Everything(To Me)". We can't forget about her red hot romance with NBA star Shannon Brown.

I think for many people including myself, it was nice to see Monica come back and come back strong even though I didn't care much for her album.

Nicki Minaj
You couldn't listen to the radio without hearing a song by Nicki Minaj or featuring her. There were many hit songs that ruled the airwaves. Her debut album, "Pink Friday" released last week will likely be gold certified next week.

American Idol

All year long we heard about the "American Idol" franchise and the rumored new judges after the departure of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Kara...I can't spell her last name so I won't. After much speculation it was decided that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler would join Randy Jackson as the judges of "American Idol". The new season of the show will air this January. Look out for it!

Fantasia
Fantasia not only released a new album, "Back To Me" in 2010, she also found herself plastered in many headlines and tabloids. Her on again and off again relationship with her married lover made headline news. Even worse, her married lover's wife suing her was just plain embarrassing. To add insult to injury Fantasia's own suicide attempt was definitely a low point for her. Thankfully she has since redeemed herself. Much, if not all of the drama Fantasia experienced this year was caught on her VH1 reality show, "Fantasia: For Real".

Naked Pictures
There seemed to be an overwhelming amount of naked pictures that leaked from some of our favorite stars. Some stars are desirable in the sense that we all wish to see their goods anyway. Then those are the stars we don't care to see either way. There were a lot of examples here including Trina's goodies being leaked via her stolen cell phone. Trina would have the matter investigated but of course this all happened right when she released her "Amazin'" album.

Kanye West's package was leaked out for all to see and this was also around the time of his album release for "My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy".

Que formerly of Day 26 also found himself the subject of leaked pictures.

Also a member from the group Brutha had naked pictures leak out and more embarrassing was a video of him masturbating.

Pregnant Celebs
Many of some of our favorite artists were with baby this year. Some even more surprising to us like Alicia Keys who gave birth a month or so ago. Christina Milian gave birth a baby girl. Mariah Carey recently announced she was with child.

So there you have it, these were just some of the things that 2010 was about. Of course there was more but I guarantee you, you will see me discussing more topics in the coming weeks.

Young Jeezy Arrested!

Young Jeezy has went and got his self arrested. Nothing new in the world of Rap right? Whatever happened to Jeezy's album? He better get it together cause to me he is falling off rather fast. Then the beef with Rick Ross! Read below for more details on his arrest as well as stories on Beyonce's gift to Jay-Z and Keyshia Cole's new album!

The Atlanta based emcee gets arrested and released before a highly anticipated show in the Bahamas.

This weekend, Young Jeezy was arrested in the Bahamas. It seems the emcee was arrested on Saturday, December 4, after an incident that occurred before a concert in New Providence. The emcee was released before this show in the Bahamas and was able to hit the stage.

"He was here with us a short while, he passed through the station briefly on Saturday," Superintendent Ashton Greenslade, the officer-in-charge of the Wulff Road Station told The Tribune. "He was booked in here and taken to CDU (Central Detective Unit)."

No additional details were given as to why Jeezy was arrested. Jason Cartwright, a promoter, confirmed the news on Facebook, noting that, "People tried to shut us down, yea' Jeezy was locked up, he out now (about) to beat the stage bad tonight."
Beyonce's Buys Jay-Z Car For His Birthday!
Jay-Z, who recently celebrated his 41st birthday on December 4th received a $2 million dollar car from his wife Beyonce.

While Ross and Diddy may be calling themselves the Bugatti boys, you can add Jay-Z to the group as Beyonce bought her hubby the new Bugatti Veyron Sport.

The couple who are currently in Australia together as Jigga tours with U2, had a nice birthday dinner on the rooftop of a restaurant. The waiter who served them said the pair were just like an ordinairy couple.

"They sat together all night and were in no way prima donnas - there were no egg-white omelettes ordered, if you know what I mean. They looked like any normal couple yet are multi-million-dollar megastars . . . and they tipped well."

Jay-Z is not the only celebrating in Australia, as Oprah's audience members began on their luxurious Australian giveaway and may possibly run into Jay and B on their vacation.

Although the car is nice, I'm pretty sure waking up to Beyonce makes everyday your birthday!
Keyshia Cole Gets Passionate On New Album!
Powerful, passionate and on the cutting edge of contemporary R&B, Hip-Hop and Soul, four-time Grammy nominee, KEYSHIA COLE, follows her three consecutive platinum-plus-selling albums with the release of her fourth CD, CALLING ALL HEARTS (Geffen Records), due December 21, 2010. The CD is available in both standard and deluxe editions. The deluxe edition will contain 3 additional songs; 11 tracks are on the standard with 14 on the deluxe.

Featuring collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Faith Evans, Tank, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Timbaland, her mother Yvonne Cole and others among the album’s 14 songs, CALLING ALL HEARTS is an emotional manifesto about life and love in our modern world. Two singles from the album are currently available: “I Ain’t Thru” featuring Nicki Minaj and “Long Way Down,” which KEYSHIA recently performed on Jay Leno.

A twist to the CALLING ALL HEARTS story is that KEYSHIA started recording the album prior to meeting her love, Cleveland Cavalier, Daniel “Booby” Gibson and she completed it following the birth, earlier this year, of their first child, Daniel, Jr. Gibson and Cole are engaged and will be married in the near future.

KEYSHIA COLE’s journey — from the mean streets of Oakland and an adopted family to achieving her dreams as a singer-songwriter — is one of today’s truly extraordinary and inspirational success stories. Since 2005, when her debut CD The Way It Is was released, KEYSHIA has scored two #1 R&B/Hip-hop albums and seven #1 singles, two of them platinum. In addition, she has scored six Top 40s on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.

Her 2nd album, 2007′s Just Like You debuted at #1 on Billboards R&B and Hip Hop chart (#2 nationally) and was propelled by three #1s, the platinum “Let It Go” featuring Missy Elliott and Lil’ Kim, “I Remember” and “Heaven Sent.” “Shoulda Let You Go” featuring Amina hit the Top 10. The groundbreaking album garnered Cole four Grammy nominations, including for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Album, and an American Music Award nomination.

In 2008, she released her third album, A Different Me, which also debuted #1 R&B and again #2 nationally, with the R&B Top 10 singles “Playa Cardz Right” featuring 2Pac, “Trust” featuring Monica and “You Complete Me.”

KEYSHIA has also delved into the worlds of television and film. Most notably, her critically acclaimed BET reality series “Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is” became the #1 most-watched series in the network’s history during its three-season run from 2006-2008. She also played herself in the movie “How She Move” in 2005. In support of CALLING ALL HEARTS, KEYSHIA is planning for an all female national tour in the new year.

Music Feed: The Year Of Nicki Minaj

As we near the end of 2010, you will see me looking back on the year that was. One of the biggest things to come out of 2010 was Nicki Minaj. She started out simply as a mixtape artist that grew with each subsequent mixtape release. Shortly thereafter her affiliation with Lil' Wayne's Young Money crew set the stage for future guest appearances for the likes of Mariah Carey, Usher, Robin Thicke, and more.

There was no escaping Nicki Minaj in 2010. Each guest appearance was memorable in their own right and there were plenty of them. Below you will see some of her memorable guest appearances throughout the year.

Lil' Freak, Usher Featuring Nicki Minaj
Who can deny the funky bassline featured in this song? More importantly what about the unforgettable verse from Nicki Minaj that was downright slick, trashy, and everything a guest appearance from a female rapper should be.

Shakin' It For Daddy, Robin Thicke Featuring Nicki Minaj
This was billed as Nicki Minaj's first huge featured track. The song was intended as a single and there was a point where Nicki performed the song with Robin. Though the song didn't make a dent in the charts, it was easily one of my favorite songs of the year thanks in part to Nicki's quirky lyrics and sense of humor.

Monster, Kanye West Featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver
Nicki Minaj's verse on "Monster" was touted as her breakthrough verse that really got her the attention she possibly craved. Nicki really went in on this track and reportedly was taking some swipes at nemesis, Lil' Kim.

I Ain't Thru, Keyshia Cole Featuring Nicki Minaj
It might not be Nicki's most memorable featured verse to date but it still makes up for this somewhat dull track. I say its dull cause that's what most people have basically said about it. I, for one like it and I tend to like what everyone else doesn't. Again, Nicki takes some swipes at Lil' Kim and their very comical.

My Chick Bad, Ludacris Featuring Nicki Minaj
Ludacris and Nicki Minaj were recently nominated for a Grammy for this track which appears on Ludacris' most recent album, "Battle Of The Sexes".

Bottoms Up, Trey Songs Featuring Nicki Minaj
"Bottoms Up" is a tolerable track but it is probably my least favorite of Nicki's collaborations. Nicki's verse is very memorable but that's about it for me.

Of course there were more collaborations from Nicki then this but these are the ones that came to my head. I could go on and on too but this is enough reading for now.

Melanie Fiona Planning New Album!

I think its safe to say her debut album, "The Bridge" was pretty slept on for the most part. I never really gave it a chance though. Her single, "It Kills Me" went to #1 on the R&B charts and the singer found herself with a Grammy nomination and Soul Train Award nomination. Now the singer is working on a new album, "The MF Life" due sometime next year. Make sure you all look out for that!

Christina Milian is working on a new album hopefully due next year. Her album, "Elope" which she was working with alongside The-Dream is being reworked. The singer appeared on "The Wendy Williams Show" Monday and talked about the rumors that she had a gag order and huge payout which she said was untrue. Christina Milian was looking mighty nice I might add. I look forward to new music from her.

I was just reading how Def Jam group Brutha may be cut down to a trio now. Apparently the two other brothers are no longer with the group. A recent picture of the group featured two of the brothers cropped out. That doesn't sound too good? I wonder will it make them more successful. I read that the brothers have really been trying to hit it big for awhile. Being signed to Def Jam is a good thing but their main priority is Rihanna. Maybe their better off on another label. And when you think about it groups period aren't really hitting these days especially R&B ones. Good luck to the Brutha's though!
