Whitney has this thing on lock! Her new album, "I Look To You" will more than likely be #1 this week or next week(depending on how they count the numbers). The new album is in stores today though Wal-Mart began selling the album days ago. Peep Whitney as she looks ever so radiant on the cover of Ebony!

Music Biz:
Nicki Minaj Signs Record Deal!

Nicki Minaj is officially the first lady of Young Money.

The Queens rapper—who attracted the attention of fans and industry heads alike with her third mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty—signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint just two months after Drake inked the dotted line.

“There’s so many people that kind of shut you down as a female before you even get your foot in the door,” Nicki Minaj told XXLMag.com. “So when you get moments like this it’s like ‘yes, finally’.”

According to a press release [see below], Minaj will retain and own all of her 360 rights, including merchandising, sponsorships, endorsements, touring and publishing.

While she’s focused on the Young Money compilation album, set for a year-end release, Minaj has began recording for her as-yet untitled debut album.

“A lot of things that could’ve been on Beam Me Up Scotty weren’t because they were quote-unquote too good to put on a mixtape,” she told XXL. “So I have an arsenal and very soon we’ll start releasing stuff.”

Nicki Minaj’s first LP is expected to drop early 2010, distributed by Universal Motown.

Beyonce In The Movies!

Not only is Beyonce a singer on stage or in videos, she is also a singer on the big screen. Many of Beyonce's [acting] roles cast her as a singer who has to overcome some type of odds, much like her real-life story.

The Fighting Temptations
Beyonce stars as a single mother who joins a church choir against the wishes of many of the church congregation and choir.

The Pink Panther
Can you believe I've never saw "The Pink Panther"? Well I'm sure I'm not the only one but I remember Beyonce singing in a clip. Is it safe to say that she did play a singer in this role as well?

Carmen: A Hip-Hopera
Beyonce stars as Carmen, an ambitious young woman who is set on making it as a star no matter what it takes.

Dreamgirls
This is perhaps Beyonce's most popular role[and movie]next to "Obsessed". Beyonce stars as Deena Jones, who gets her start in a singing group before she is pushed into a solo career against her wishes by her money hungry producer.

Music Biz:
Timbaland Responsible For Jay-Z Leaks?!

In a matter of a week, Jay-Z has sprung a leak problem as three tracks were released titled “Off That” featuring Drake, “Reminder” and most recently “Venus vs. Mars.” Thursday saw the release of a track called “Ghetto Techno,” but luckily this track is not set to be thrown on The Blueprint III. All of the tracks had production handled by Timbaland which could lead speculation to who is responsible for letting the tracks out of the cage so soon. Speaking with Memphis Bleek, HipHopWired was able to get his incite on the current situation and defends his former labelmate from the wrath of bloggers.

“Man , you know where that's coming from. That's Timbo's camp. Somebody is playin' dirty. It's cool though. I like to see the people's opinions. I've been reading the comments on Jay's records saying that the beats don't sound like this or that. I think they just set the bar too high for my guy.”

Recently, Timbaland spoke on the production that he gave for the album and there are reports saying that he didn't even give Jay his best material. For an album of such volume, many would come to believe that Tim would bring his best, but he stated that he will save the best for his own album, Shock Value 2. Although early reports said that Jigga was set to be on the upcoming sequel, time will tell if this will still be.The rumors that were floating around that Timbaland was not too pleased that he didn’t get a chance to produce a good majority of Jay’s latest effort.

Mary J. Blige Releases "The One" Video!

I finally got around to posting the new Mary J. Blige video. I was finally able to find a suitable link as well. This is the lead single off Mary's new album, 'Stronger' due in stores November. The lead single, "Stronger" recently debuted as well with a video. Check it out!

Amerie Graces New Magazine Cover!

Amerie's new single, "Heard Em All" is now impacting and is now said to feature Lil' Wayne. Typical. A big budget video set in the desert is in the works. That is all good but Amerie needs to pull some major tricks out of the bag for this album. I have no doubt that Amerie will put out a good album but will it sale? Will she get lost in the shuffle again?

Music Biz:
Cassie Talks New Album!

According to HitsDoubleDaily, singer & model Cassie will finally release her sophomore album "Electro Love" on the 24th of November.

The 22-year-old recently opened up about the sound of the new record to Dimepiece, who are currently helping her promote the album with a joint fashion venture.

"I've always been inspired by Janet," revealed Cassie. "Sensual, sexy, but still classy, so I'd say definitely Janet. Also Prince, Vanity 6, and Apollonia 6.

"I had the opportunity to work with Pharrell which was a great collaboration," she continued. "Akon is on my first single. Then I also worked with some newer producers like Surfclub and Rob Holladay".
So Cassie actually gets an official release date huh? Had she had one before? I can't really recall but this is big though. She is actually going to release her album in November huh? Let's hope she doesn't get lost in the shuffle. My girl Trina pushed her album back to early 2010 cause she knew that she would get lost in the holiday shuffle.

Throwback Video! Fath Evans - I Love You

Faith Evans is one of the most underrated singers out in my opinion. She has always been in the shadow of Mary J. Blige, thanks to Diddy. From her third album, "Faithfully", Faith Evans released, "I Love You", as the album's second single. The song was originally recorded by Jennifer Lopez but she passed on the song later on and it wound up in the hands of Faith. Check out the steamy hot video!

Michael Jackson's Opus Technology Revealed!

Michael Jackson's untimely death is still the talk of many blogs, news shows, and more. Michael not only had his hand in his comeback tour, "This Is It" but also a special book that commemorated his years as an entertainer. To find out more just watch the video!

Music Biz:
Chris Brown In Trouble!

CHRIS BROWN could live to regret his celebratory night out in Los Angeles hours after he was sentenced for beating up ex-girlfriend RIHANNA - he broke the rules of his probation as he was too young to be in a club.
The disgraced singer faced an L.A. Superior court judge on Tuesday (25Aug09) as he was given a five year probation order, as well as six months hard community labour after he was convicted of assaulting his former lover in February (09).
He was also ordered to stay away from Rihanna for the same period of time and to report for community duties within 72-hours of sentencing.
However, Brown shocked fans by showing little remorse over the vicious attack by heading for a night out on the town at West Hollywood hotspot Guys and Dolls.
The star even grabbed the mic during Michael Jackson's hit Dirty Diana and told the crowd: "There was only one King of Pop. We love you, Michael."
Now he is facing a possible investigation into his actions - as, at 20 years old, he is too young to enter nightclubs and bars in America, according to strict U.S. drinking age limits.
The venue he frequented had a Type 48 liquor licence, meaning it is only a bar or club and not a restaurant.
Los Angeles Probation Department spokeswoman Kari Webb tells E! News, "It (breaking probation) won't be taken lightly. If you break the law, you're in trouble."
Despite Brown sticking to water throughout the evening, his entourage ordered 10 bottles of champagne, and he would have only been allowed to stay in the club if he was hired as a performer.

LeToya Performs "Regret" On Good Day New York!

LeToya may be unhappy with her management, her record label(Capitol), and her first week sales, but LeToya has been promoting on her own popping up on various daytime and morning talk shows. Here she performs her third single, "Regret" which features Ludacris, but Ludacris isn't featured in this performance. Check it out!

Mario Reveals New Album Cover!

Mario has radio on fire with his "Break Up" single featuring Gucci Mane and Sean Garrett. Now Mario's new album, "D.N.A." will be released on September 29 after numerous pushbacks. A lot of songs from Mario has leaked online in recent weeks. I haven't heard a lot of them but I'm guessing a lot of these songs will be featured on the new album. Unfortunately for Mario, he faced a similar fate with his last album, "Go", and didn't get a chance to experience the success he could of had, had the whole album and its song leaked out nearly a year before the album was finally released.

Music Biz:
LeToya Unhappy With Management, Label!

Singer/actress LeToya has reportedly switched her management to MBK management with Jeff Robinson, who is the long time manager of R&B superstar Alicia Keys.

The singer actually inked the deal a few weeks before her sophomore album "Lady Love" dropped, but the news has only been made official now after LeToya suddenly appeared on MBK's official website with a glowing biography and ads for her album.

The news comes after LeToya expressed her disappointment with the lack of promotion she's received from label Capitol during a live Ustream chat on August 24th, the eve of her album release.

It was also rumoured that LeToya was unhappy with her first single "Not Anymore", which was released upon insistence her original manager Terry Ross.

Her sophomore album "Lady Love" is expected to debut at about #5 on the Billboard charts, with an estimated 25-30k .
I'm surprised to hear LeToya was unhappy with "Not Anymore". I mean it wasn't my favorite song from her and it took awhile to catch on for me but the song was a hit for her. As far as the other leaked material I heard, I wasn't a fan of and I just wasn't really that interested in LeToya this time around.

Whitney Houston Wal-Mart Bound!
Contrary to rumors that Whitney's I Look to You CD would not be available in Walmart stores, the company has issued the following statement:

"Walmart will in fact be selling Whitney's new album in all stores beginning Monday, August 31. We're excited about Whitney's new album! Walmart.com had unexpected tech issues, some CD pages are not showing up. We're working on it now. Whitney will be online & in Walmart stores."
Whitney Houston is about to slay on the charts! I can't wait to see how her album's first week sales will be.

Jay-Z Graces Cover Of XXL Magazine!

As expected Jay-Z graces the latest issue of XXL magazine. Jay-Z is certainly no stranger to the cover and I bet he has appeared on the cover a hefty number of times. With "The Blueprint 3" album due September 11, a lot of Jay-Z's songs have leaked out lately and for a second earlier today, I was thinking the album had leaked out in full, but not yet, as far as I know.

Beyonce Is Billboard's Woman Of The Year!

It seems as if Beyonce has won every award imaginable but fear not there are still dozens of awards Beyonce has not received and Billboard's Woman of the Year is the latest. Whitney Houston's latest dilemma and TLC's return are all mentioned below. Check it out!

Beyonce Receives Billboard Honor!
Billboard announced today (Aug. 25) that Beyoncé will be accepting its Woman Of The Year Award at the 2009 Billboard Women In Music Event, taking place on Oct. 2 in New York City.

The honor, given to a female recording artist that has inspired the music business with her success, leadership and new ideas, will be awarded to the singer for her accomplishments over the past 12 months.

In the last year, Beyoncé kicked off her world tour "I Am..." in support of her third solo album "I Am...Sasha Fierce," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in November and features the hit singles "If I Were A Boy," "Single Ladies," "Halo," "Ego" and "Sweet Dreams."

The Billboard Women in Music Event celebrates the most powerful and talented women in the music business and is also held in conjunction with the Women In Music Power Players List issue, which recognizes the top female music executives who are leading the industry with their artistic and business vision.
I remember reading that Beyonce wants a Tony(Broadway) and an Oscar. Which one do you think she will win first? I won't bet on that Oscar!

Whitney Houston's New Album Won't Be Available In Wal-Mart?
Is Wal-Mart trying to sabotage Whitney Houston's record sales?

Don't mess with a diva!

We've just learned that Wal-Mart will not be selling Whitney's new album, I Look To You, in their retail locations!

The album, which comes out the first week of September, will only be for sale through Wal-Mart's online store, according to several Whitney fansites.

Coincidentally enough, Miley Cyrus's upcoming EP, The Time Of Our Lives, has a competing release date with Houston's I Look To You, and will be exclusively for sale at Wal-Mart!

Trying to knock out the competition?

How sleazy!!
I've never heard of anything so dumb. Miley Cyrus? I mean really. Miley Cyrus releases an album every two weeks it seems and I know Wal-Mart carries the other Whitney Houston titles but not this one. This will come back and bite them in the ass cause Whitney is expected to hit big sales wise and after that they will come running for cover. After all Wal-Mart needs that Whitney Houston album in their store, it will help with revenue especially since they are hurting after taking their layaway away.

TLC Reunites For Concert!
TLC, the record-breaking, four-time R&B Grammy winners who were a mainstay on the Billboard charts in the 1990s, are set to play a show on U.S. soil for the first time in seven years – as part of a benefit concert hosted by Justin Timberlake.

Playing the "Justin Timberlake and Friends" concert, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, the two remaining members of TLC – Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was killed in a 2002 car accident – will play Las Vegas's Mandalay Bay Events Center on Oct. 17.

Along with Timberlake and TLC, country sweetheart Taylor Swift and vocalists Alicia Keys and Ciara have also been added to the ticket. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

The benefit concert highlights a weeklong golf tournament to be hosted by Timberlake in Sin City Oct. 11-18 – the 2009 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Timberlake, 28, is in the second year of a five-year partnership with Shriners to host the golf tournament and benefit concert.
People are always going on about how TLC is not TLC without Left Eye and that is true but what is the difference between T-Boz and Chili still performing some of those hits even those that feature or didn't feature Lisa. No one says anything about Beyonce performing Destiny's Child's hits solo even the parts that feature Kelly[Rowland] or Michelle[Williams]. The nerve of some people.

Mariah Carey And Her Wacky Album Titles Examined!

I don't really have a problem with Mariah Carey and her album titles but over the years she has been criticized for it among other things. Why am I writing about Mariah? Well I was on twitter and one of my friends was talking about Mariah's "Charmbracelet" album which is an album I used to own from Mariah and one I really liked.

Mariah Carey and her wackiest album titles are examined.

Butterfly(1997) - I think this was truly the beginning of the album titles that made people go like hmmm? But Mariah always had a reasoning behind her album titles mostly in reference to some of her favorite things. On Butterfly though Mariah sung mostly about her breakup and resentment from her relationship with Tommy Mottola.

Rainbow(1999) - Freshly dipped in spray paint and leaving little to the imagination, Mariah Carey stunned critics again with Rainbow.

Glitter(2001) - Originally titled All That Glitters, after the movie of the same name, later titled simply Glitter, Mariah was becoming a pro with strange album titles. Glitter, was the soundtrack that represented Mariah's screen debut which failed at the box office and musically with critics.

Charmbracelet(2003) - Despite the album title, Charmbracelet is a really good album and sadly overlooked since it came after the disastrous Glitter album. Charmbracelet is another one of Mariah's many favorite things. Shouldn't Mariah be like Oprah and just give away her 'favorite things'?

The Emancipation of Mimi(2005) - Who was Mimi? And who was being emancipated? Mimi was later revealed to be a nickname for Mariah and an introduction to the real her. Really? Well it was nice getting to know this Mariah. This album was a huge hit but it marked the beginning of Mariah and her bad live performances.

E=MC2(2008) - A follow-up of sorts to Mimi, this album was lesser received and while the title is unique and different, the music didn't represent or live up to the title.

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel(2009?) - Mariah did what she does best! Having everyone baffled at her choice of album titles. What did this title mean? According to Mariah, the album represent Mariah at her current state and read like a journal of sorts. The first single, "Obsessed" was later branded a teaser after it didn't debut at #1.

Brian McKnight Returns With New Album!

Hello all! I apologize for the lack of updates the last day or two. I have been busy with family in town but now that they are gone, I will try and resume to my normal updating schedule.

Read about Brian McKnight, Chris Brown's sentencing, and Kelly Rowland's new album below!

Brian McKnight Reveals Album Tracklisting!
Brian McKnight returns to the music scene with his new album, "Evolution Of A Man" in stores October 27. The album is led by the single, "What I've Been Waiting For". This fall will also see Brian debut his late night talk show that will appear on the CW and FOX networks. Below you can check out the track listing to the new album!

Track listing
1. "While I'm Feelin This Way"
2. "What I've Been Waiting For"
3. "Next To you"
4. "Baby It's You"
5. "More Than Just A Thang" featuring Jill Scott
6. "Just A Little Bit"
7. "I Betcha Never"
8. "Without You" featuring Stevie Wonder
9. "Another You"
10. "End and Begin With You"
11. "I Miss You"
12. "Hold Back My Heart"
13. "Slow"
I can't say I have ever been a big Brian McKnight fan but the two songs I do like by him are "Find Myself In You" and "Love Is" with Vanessa Williams. As far as the talk show thing, it seems like everyone is getting one these days if they haven't already gotten a reality show. I can't be mad at him though. He is still doing it after all these years in the game.

Chris Brown Get Probation Sentencing!
Chris Brown can finally put this embarrassing fiasco behind him and get on with his life and what's left of his career.

The disgraced singer was sentenced Tuesday to five years' formal probation, 180 days of community labor and was ordered to complete a one-year anti-domestic violence program as part of his guilty plea for beating up fellow R&B star Rihanna.

"You are going to be placed on formal felony probation for a period of sixty months," L.A. Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said. "I'm going to keep probation to be supervised by the state of California with Mr. Brown performing his domestic violence counseling and community labor in the state of Virginia."
I can't feel sorry for Chris Brown and this whole situation. I saw the pic of him on yahoo.com and he had the puppy dog face. As far as his career is concerned, we shall see.

Kelly Rowland Talks New Album, Music!
“Here [In America], sometimes it’s like my music didn’t quite work, but overseas it’s on top of everybody’s chart. I’ve had more international success than domestic success, and I think that opens my eyes up to music. I mean, I just got back from performing in Lebanon. Lebanon!” she says.

“I have a new boost of energy. All the creative juices are flowing, and I’m having so much fun in the studio because I’m making dance records. And I’m working with producers who are just as curious about the sound internationally, too.”

Rowland says her next release will be dance-heavy, but she won’t forget her R&B roots.
“I don’t ever want to get in a box to where I’m thinking that this is the only place that can ever exist,” she says. “I love being overseas just as much as I love being home."

According to Kelly, the album is due out late 2009/Early 2010.

Whitney Houston Stuns With Another New Promo Pic!

All these beautiful and classy videos, song leaks, but no videos. I would assume that a video will probably debut next week just in time for the album. I believe they are planning something big and possibly a world premiere like showing for all the networks. That would be nice though if they haven't thought of it already.

So Good! Songs With Good In The Title!

After the steamy video clip of Day 26's, "So Good", I came up with the idea of listing a few well-known and not so well-known songs that features the title 'good' in it. Of course they are tons and tons of songs but these are some of the first few songs that popped up in my head.

Ashanti - Good Good
Ashanti went to #30 R&B with this hit song about having what it takes to keep a man locked down and coming back for more. The song's video featured Ashanti as a 1950's housewife cooking, cleaning, and kissing on hubby Nelly!

Whitney Houston - You Give Good Love
This song is one of Whitney Houston's many signature ballad in a list long of ballads that go back over 20 years.

Anita Baker - Good Love
You can hear this song on any urban adult contemporary station today. A very nice cut from Ms. Baker.

Rich Boy featuring Keri Hilson & Polow Da Don - Good Things
Perhaps this is one of Polow Da Don's most underrated productions but here the producer gets to show out with backing vocals.

Bun B featuring Mya - Good To Me
The duo composed of Bun B and Mya sampled The S.O.S. Band's "Just Be Good To Me".

Deborah Cox - Just Be Good To Me
Deborah Cox remade The S.O.S. Band's "Just Be Good To Me" for her debut album, Deborah Cox.

Elecktric Red - So Good
This song sounds as if Prince produced this for Vanity 6 or Rick James producing for the Mary Jane Girls. Who can forget the sleazy lyrics and the equally entertaining and colorful video. Easily one of my favorite songs and videos of 2009.

Day 26 - So Good
The new single from the quintet that puts the 'd' in drama especially when reality TV is concerned.

Day 26 Shows Us The Goodies In New Video!

Day 26 is still alive and kicking as I always like to say. Personally I always forget that they exist cause their so quiet as a group when their not on TV. Check out their new video for the single, "So Good".

Whitney Houston Stuns In New Promo Pic For New Album!

Actually an outtake for her album cover for "I Look To You", Whitney stuns and looks as regal and elegant as she did on her debut album, "Whitney Houston" back in 1985. I am ready to hear Whitney's new album when it is released August 31.

Mya Shows Us Something In Her New Video Clip!

It is safe to say that Mya had fallen off pretty hard once her "Liberation" album wasn't released in the states. On many message board I visited, Mya was the butt of many jokes. Despite all the negative press, Mya kept trucking on releasing an album overseas titled, "Sugar & Spice" and now she's back here in the states with her new mixtape, "Beauty & The Streets" and her new video for single, "Show Me Somethin" featuring Bun B. Check it out!

LeToya Performs "She Ain't Got.." Live!

Marques Houston Readies New Album!

It's been a long time coming but I think it is safe to say that Marques Houston will release his new album, "Mr. Houston" on September 29. Like Marques' past albums(and albums of many other artists), this album got off to a few false starts. Now with his new single,"Body" recently debuting on "106 & Park", Marques is ready to take action! Below you can check out the album cover, track listing, and brief bio. I'm not sure if I posted this album cover before or not but if you haven't seen it here it is.

Evolution can no longer be denied as merely a theory when there is
proof like Marques Houston (formerly known as “Batman”). His fourth
solo effort, Mr. Houston, puts aside the youthful crooning of an
industry playboy to offer his maturing audience what it sounds like to
sing in love.

After releasing Veteran in 2007, Houston took a near two yearlong
hiatus from recording, which he had never done before, and, when
he was ready, told longtime producer and business partner Chris
Stokes that he will be laying down his next album “my way.”

“This is this first album that I’ve done that I’m really, really connected
to because there’s no gimmick.” Mr. Houston explains “Of course I
have tracks that you’re used to,” like the Smash first single “I Love
Her” featuring Jim Jones, and Body. But Houston wanted to give a
different feeling this time with more live instruments—the tickling of
piano keys, the strumming of guitar strings……

Official Tracklisting:
I Love Her
Body
How I Do
Express Lane
Case of You
Stranger
Say My Name
Letter
Sexy Young Girl
Date
Beautiful Woman
Now I've heard five of those songs out of these 11 tracks and that is not surprising but I know that this will be a good album.

Mariah Carey Reveals Ad For New Fragrance!

It wasn't too long ago when Mariah Carey appeared on BET's "106 & Park" and Mariah was in full stuck up bitch mode but she did manage to squeeze out a few words about her newest fragrance, "Forever". Below you can check out the ad which is heavily photoshopped and has Mariah looking slightly weird in the eyes.

Music Biz:
Ashanti & Nelly To Split?

It was all good just a week ago…..Now THIS I didn’t see coming. According to the Daily News, Ashanti and St. Lunatic general, Nelly have officially parted ways. A source close to Ashanti claims that the R&B starlet was ready to take the big marital plunge, but Nelly was still having fun running wild in the streets (supposedly)

In addition, another source claims Nelly was/is courting video vixen, Jessica Rabbit. Why? Don’t ask me. From the outside looking in, Nelly and Ashanti seemed to be living drama free.

Whitney Houston Breezes Through The Airport!

Perhaps the biggest music comeback this year, Whitney Houston was breezing through the airport when the paparazzi caught the singer and followed her as she caught her ride to who knows where. Possibly to gear up and promote this new album she has.

Omarion Speaks On Young Money Depature!

Omarion has much respect for Lil Wayne but, had to make a decision he felt was better for his career.

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for the genius of Lil ‘Wayne and the entire Young Money family. I asked to be released from the label to pursue other opportunities that were recently presented to me. Because of our relationship, Lil’ Wayne had no issue with us ending our business relationship and released me from the label," Omarion wrote in a statement released on Marques Houston's blog Thursday.

Mary J. Blige Releases "Stronger" Video!

"Stronger", the title track for Mary's new album in stores this November gets the video treatment and concentrates mainly on a basketball theme featuring appearances by Lebron James. If I remember correctly I read that "Stronger" would serve as some sort or theme or soundtrack for some basketball stuff going on.

Trey Songz Previews New Album!
Get ready for "Ready", the new album from Trey Songz in stores August 31. You can get an exclusive preview of the album by clicking here. I'm not really feeling Trey this time around and so far from what I heard of the samples, the album is heavy on midtempo ballads.

Jennifer Lopez Graces InStyle Magazine!

Jennifer Lopez is slowly starting to return to the spotlight with a new album, a greatest hits album, and a movie all in the works. Now this sounds like the businesswoman JLO we're used to seeing and hearing about. Below you can check out the cover and an excerpt from the mag's article in which the singer/actress talks about her upcoming album and music. Check it out!

The 40-year-old also took some time out to discuss everything from her personal life to her movie career, and luckily she also revealed some new details about her music and upcoming album.

"The album is only halfway done. We'll see what it shapes up to be. I've had hit records and I've sold millions of albums. But it gets to the point where you're like, "Why am I doing this?" It should only express something that means something to me. Something I can leave behind that my kids can listen and go, "Oh, that's what my mom was about.""

"I'm at a point in my life when I just don't feel the need to put out anything unless I totally, absolutely feel it says what I want to say," Lopez says about her music career. She has, however, received inspiration from her twins - especially Max, whose first few steps inspired the proud mom to write a song.

Despite claiming that her album is only halfway done, a recent news report indicated that the diva was set to drop a new single as early as September, followed by the album in January.

Throwback Video! Patti Labelle - Love Need Want/If Only You Knew

VH1 decided to bring back its "Divas Live" franchise but without an actual 'diva' to honor, this time opting to just go with some fresh face up and coming divas. Clearly there is nothing wrong with that but Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey could of gotten a tribute this year. Anyway Patti LaBelle performed at one of the very last "Divas Live" shows I can remember and here it is. Check it out!

Music Biz:
Lil' Wayne's Baby Talk!

Lil Wayne is welcoming another little Carter into the world. The rapper finally revealed during a radio interview on Tuesday (August 18) what had been widely speculated: Lauren London is expecting his baby.

The "ATL" actress is several months pregnant and surprised attendees of Diddy's white party over the Fourth of July when she arrived with a bulging belly.

"Lauren London, she fine," Los Angeles Power 106 jock Fuzzy said to Wayne. "She very pregnant with your baby."

To which Wayne responded, "Very pregnant, yes."

Fuzzy then offered a congratulations to the Cash Money star, and he gladly accepted.
Well I'm surprised no one asked him about Nivea being pregnant since Wayne is rumored to have impregnated her as well and those two have a history.

R. Kelly Talks Whitney Houston Collaboration!
R. Kelly and Whitney Houston may have their differences, but at the end of the day, it’s all love.

The Pied Piper of R&B and superstar diva worked together on Houston’s new album I Look to You. R. Kelly crafted two records, including the title track and “Salute.”

Houston spoke about her collaborator at a listening session in Beverly Hills last month, hinting that it was somewhat of a challenge working with The R. “Some people just have their own world and R. Kelly, he has his own world,” she joked. “I kinda stepped in and stepped out for a minute.”

At a listening for his album, Untitled, earlier this week in Chicago, R. Kelly turned the tables, revealing the advice he gave his friend to stage a successful comeback. “Go get clean and go get refreshed,” he told Houston. “If you sing [like you did on] ‘I Will Always Love You,’ you’ll be right back on top.”

Kellz said the two share a sibling-like relationship. “That’s like my sister,” he continued, lovingly referring to her as “Buckethead.” “We get into it all the time. Toni [Braxton] didn’t understand it either.”
R. Kelly's New Album, "Untitled" Revealed!
The album is named Untitled because R. Kelly wants his fans to call it what they want. The set, due October 13, consists of 14 mainly upbeat tracks. The standouts were the catchy “Echo,” which will put yodeling in a sexy new light; “Elsewhere,” a piano ballad that helped him win back his girl (“She’ll be crying elsewhere/ And I’ll be somewhere thinking about her”); and the ’70s-inspired “Be My Number 2,” co-produced by Jack Splash. The latter was a departure from Kellz’ signature sound and will surely find a home on the dance floor. Untitled is a precursor to his next album, Zodiac, which is already complete. “I feel good about the album. We put Chicago back on the map as far as R. Kelly is concerned,” he said with cigar in hand.
I'm actually looking forward to this R. Kelly album and I really hope he delivers. I don't like to anticipate albums too much from artists that I'm casual fans of cause usually when I hear the album, I don't like it.

Music Biz:
Mariah Carey Preps Memoirs Album!

Foreigner's Mick Jones can start ordering caviar and Champagne again: Mariah Carey is releasing her own gospel-tinged version of his masterwork song, "I Want to Know What Love Is."

It's the first "real" single from her new album following the summer release of the witty "Obsessed," which is also included on "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel." The album and the single hit the world on Sept. 29th.

The other songs on the album – these are the titles, although the running order is still being finalized: "Betcha," "Obsessed," "H.A.T.E.U.," "Candy Bling," "Ribbon," "Standing O's.," "Impossible," "It's a Wrap," "Inseparable," "Up Out My Face," "More than Just Friends," and "Angels Cry."

Several of these are radio ready. "Angels Cry" is an honest-to-god ballad a la "Vision of Love," and should be a gigantic success. "Standing O's" also has potential, as do "H.A.T.E.U." – which stands for "having a typical emotional upset" – and "Inseparable."

Def Jam's L.A. Reid – who previewed the CD for the first time yesterday with a clutch of staffers – is playing with the order, to get it right. But he really can't go wrong. Carey's album, is, as they used to say, "what the kids want." Plus, it's got stuff for the slightly older crowd. I loved the doo-woppy "It's a Wrap." And the Foreigner track is so powerful, it's going to be everywhere.
Despite all her arrogance and non-singing antics, it is nice to know that Mariah is going out of her way to make a quality album. You can't be mad at that. Now I am eager to hear this album.

Nicki Minaj Speaks On Her Image In Exclusive Interview!

Every once in awhile Nicki Minaj blesses us with an interview not revealing anything that we didn't already know. It seems like the interviewers just ask her the same questions time and time again. I bet these artists get sick of that especially when their promoting a new album. They have to sit there and do countless interview after interview answering the same old questions. I would tell the perspective interviewers to switch it up a little and surprise with the questioning. Don't you think?

"I'm working with numerous producers such as Timbaland and maybe Polow Da Don, he's a friend of mine" she revealed. "Also Detail, he's a Konvict music producer. Also Akon and Wyclef, so my album will be very interesting and fun. Something special".

Kim's last single with Timbaland "The Jump Off", topped the rap charts, whilst reaching #2 on the R&B charts and #16 on the Hot 100.

In previous interviews the Queen Bee said that her new album would be a return to the "nasty" sounds of her debut "Hardcore".

Throwback Video! Brownstone - 5 Miles To Empty

There have been so many girl groups that have come and gone specifically in the 90s. One group in particular was Brownstone who ruled for a brief time with their powerhouse vocals and ladies anthems. One song in particular that I like and I listened to today on an oldies(yes oldies) mix I made was "5 Miles To Empty". I was browsing aimlessly on YouTube(as normal) and I decided that this would make a nice throwback joint! Enjoy it!

Kelly Rowland Heads To Work New Solo Album!

Kelly Rowland's solo career and its direction or lack thereof is a topic often discussed. Kelly found a hit this summer with "When Love Takes Over" alongside David Guetta. Now the pair are working on the diva's upcoming album. Mariah Carey is having problems with her new album, "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel", and Marques Houston will be on TV this week.

Check out these stories and more below!

David Guetta Talks Kelly Rowland's Solo Success!
"I think a lot of people feel that Kelly never had the success she deserved as an independent artist." says Guetta. "It's probably because she's playing in the same field as Beyonce, who is so huge and such a big priority for everybody. Kelly needed to find her own direction, and I think that's what will happen now. I'm really happy if I can help her because she's helped me a lot. We've actually started to work on her new album together."
Mariah Carey's New Publicist Speaks On New Album, Single!
"Record release dates change all the time," Berger confirms. "It's nothing unusual and it doesn't signal anything. There are a lot of moving parts to Mariah's professional life... She's making sure the record is how she wants it to be and it's no big deal."

It also looks like "I Wanna Know What Love Is" will now be billed as the "first" official single from Mariah's Memoirs, after Friedman reported:

"The first single from Mariah’s CD will not be “Obsessed”—that was just a summer trifle, and it was a lot of fun. The real first official single is said to be a powerhouse ballad along the lines of “Vision of Love.”
Like its been said already if "Obsessed" was #1 out of the gate, it would not be referred to as a buzz single. The song did not perform horribly by any means. It is in the top 20 of the Pop and R&B charts. I just think artists should spend more time pushing and promoting their singles and not give up on them so quick when they don't debut at #1. I know Mariah and everyone is used to her having a #1 single all the time but sometimes you do miss the boat.

Marques Houston Debuts New Video!
Marques Houston will appear on BET's "106 & Park" on Monday to premiere his new video, "Body". It is the new single from his long-awaited album, "Mr. Houston". I am a big Marques Houston fan so of course this album is long overdue for me.

Mario's "D.N.A." Album Pushed Back Again!

Another one bites the dust. You know once an album gets an official release date, it is likely that the date will be changed once and sometimes numerous times. It seems like to me J Records is always screwing Mario up when he has a hit single on his hands. They wait and not strike while the iron is hot. When will they learn? Maybe once he's on a label better suited for him.

Elsewhere find out the latest on Drake and his mixtape and Chris Brown's latest fiasco! It's all here. Read below to find out more details!

Mario's New Album Pushed Back!
It looks like Mario is the latest victim of push back fever, with his fourth studio album "D.N.A." getting a new release date of October 13, 2 weeks later than last scheduled.

This is the second time now that the album has been pushed back.

Things are looking good for the 22-year-old though, with his single "Break Up" now sitting at #2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart, and shooting up to #20 on the Hot 100.
I'm interested in knowing the meaning behind this title.

As originally reported on Billboard.com earlier this summer, Drake has finally cleared the samples to his highly-acclaimed "So Far Gone" mixtape and will re-release it on September 15th, 2009, confirms a rep at Universal Motown.

The rapper told MTV.com today (August 14) that the album will feature most of the original songs off the album -- including "Best I Ever Had," which currently sits at No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and "Successful" featuring Trey Songz, No. 5 on the same tally. One exception will be a new track, "Fear," that will appear on the end of the revamped set. Drake told the music site that the last verse on "Fear" will be the lead to his upcoming debut, "Thank Me Later," stating that "the last line of the third verse is going to be the first line on my album." "Thank Me Later" is slated for a late 2009 release.
I've never heard the "So Far Gone" mixtape but I've read enough good things about it to be interested and not be interested. I have jumped on the Drake train somewhat but not fully. I do "Best I Ever Had", "Successful" and "Uptown" among others.

Leaked Chris Brown Song Not Official Single!
A rep for Brown, however, tells Billboard.com that "Changed Man" is not his comeback single and that the song was "recorded some time ago -- a long time ago, actually." The rep could not say whether the track was recorded after Brown assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna, whom he appears to be addressing in the lyrics:

"I'm a changed man, because you mean that much to me," sings Brown on the mid-tempo ballad's chorus. "And I don't want to be done/I'm doing all that I can, and everybody hates Chris/They can never understand."
Of course once these songs leak out, their never intended to be first singles(their just buzz singles) when they know good and well they do be. Now had the reaction to the song been positive, Jive Records would of said "Oh yes this is the first single!".

Throwback Video! Jay-Z featuring Foxy Brown - Sunshine

I was on YouTube listening to some tunes and I just started searching for some songs I hadn't heard in awhile and I stumbled upon this forgotten gem. Jay-Z and Foxy Brown teamed up in 1997 to produce, "Sunshine" which was taken from Jay-Z's album, "In My Lifetime Vol 1." This song was one of the many collaborations we would hear from Jay and Foxy and it is one of my favorites as well as the colorful video. Check it out!

Usher Plots New Album!
It’s alive… well almost. Grammy Award-winning recording artist Usher has revealed to the Las Vegas Sun that his sixth solo set, “Monster,” is on the verge of completion and is scheduled to see the light of day in October.

Usher weeks away from completing sixth solo album, "Monster". Back in January, Jermaine Dupri, the project’s only confirmed producer, announced to the public via his “Living the Life” YouTube series that the two were set to begin production on “Monster.”

When probed about the project’s creative direction by JD, Usher at that time alluded to what was in store. "You know the reality of what Usher is, but you never really got a chance to understand the fantasy; we never really talked about it as much." Since then, both parties have been mum about the status of the L.P.

However, what we now know is that Usher’s been diligently working in Las Vegas with JD on the “Monster” and the finishing touches will be complete within the next coming weeks. The singer explains that he has poured his personal experiences into the new composition. “On this album, the influences came from places I’ve gone myself, the reality of circumstances of choice.”
I don't know what to believe about this Usher record. I've read so many different things. I will just sit back, wait, and see when an official press release comes out. Until then you can look forward to more stories like this.

Whitney Houston Album Preview!
Whitney Houston's new album, "I Look To You" will be released August 31 but you can preview the album exclusively by clicking here. The album sounds very promising and I have listened to the samples a few times. The album does sound a little all over the place and that voice sounds a little scratchy, hoarse, and what not but I actually like that. It really shows that Whitney has been through some things and we all know that she has.

I Got Beef With You! The Latest Feuds In R&B/Hip-Hop!

Brooke Hogan vs. Beyonce - The VH1 reality star turned singer was asked about Beyonce and the singer had this to say about the star "..she needs to go sit down and make some babies and chill. She's talented, but she needs to give it a break." It's not like she wasn't telling the truth but of course the Beyonce fans claim that Brooke is jealous.

Trey Songz vs. R. Kelly - Trey Songz has always been compared to R. Kelly and the singer even lists Kells as one of his influences. Over the last few years Trey has become increasingly cocky and called Kells out on a song from his "Anticipation" mixtape[I believe].

Trey Songz vs. Pleasure P - Who knew that beef between the two musicians existed until Teairra Mari revealed that Pleasure would be insulted if Teairra recorded a song written by Trey for her upcoming album, "At That Point".

Mariah Carey vs. Eminem - This beef is by no means new but it has lived on over the years. Most recently Mariah's "Obsessed" song was largely believed to be about Eminem. In typical Eminem fashion, the rapper lashed at Mariah with a scathing dis track.
