Music Feed: 2013 VMAs Recap 8/25/13

The 2013 VMAs aired earlier tonight on MTV and VH1. The awards telecast was full of sheer surprises and jaw dropping performances. Below you can check out a modified list of the various performers, presenters, winners, and sightings in the audience. After the jump you can check out my own personal recap of the show!
Performers: Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Lady GaGa, Kanye West, Macklemore, Jennifer Hudson, Drake, Bruno Mars, Joseph Gordon-Levitt,
Katy Perry,

Presenters: Lil' Kim, Iggy Azalea, One Direction, Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Hart, Macklemore, Justin Timberlake, N'Sync, Jason Collins, A$AP Rocky, Adam Lambert, Emeli Sande, TLC, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez,

Winners: One Direction, Pink, 30 Seconds To Mars, Selena Gomez, Macklemore, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Austin Mahone, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake,

Audience/Sightings: Drake, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Will Smith, Jaden & Will Smith, Lady GaGa, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd

Highlights: Lady GaGa opened the VMAs with her hit single Applause swifting between various costumes before ending her set with a clam bikini. The singer adorned the clam bikini for the rest of night and didn't stand up not once to flash her newfound curvy figure.

Miley Cyrus performed her hit single We Can't Stop before launching into a raunchy duet with Robin Thicke. The two performed Robin's #1 hit Blurred Lines. Miley twerked, gyrated, fondled, and kissed Robin Thicke. Robin then launched into his new single Give It 2 U featuring Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz.

Kevin Hart made a few improptu appearances on stage recalling some of the surprising moments of the night. He lamented about Lady GaGa's curvy figure and Miley Cyrus' penchant for twerking. He poked fun at N'Sync who reunited stating that the remaining members were tired and out of breath from the dance steps. More on that reunion in a few.

Justin Timberlake perhaps owned the night with various award wins and his nearly 20 minute set. He performed nearly every solo hit single from his catalog including Senorita, Like I Love  You, and Cry Me A River. The much hyped about and not so secret reunion from N'Sync took place and found the group channeling Destiny's Child who reunited earlier in the year via the Super Bowl.

Kanye West performed a song from his album Yeezus. Kanye's whole performance was a blur to me and it mimicked his performance from a few years back. Kanye has always been weird and unconventional as an artist. He just seems to get even more unconventional with each album. That likely explains the drop off in sales of his current album which finally crossed the Gold mark.

Jennifer Hudson joined Macklemore as he performed his hit single Same Love. Jennifer's appearance was pretty shocking because it was like she came outta nowhere. I think I turned away from the TV for one second and there was J-Hud in all her shouting glory. I actually liked her little short wig.

I couldn't help but notice as did everyone else on Twitter, Rihanna looking high as a kite! I thought she was set to perform but for some reason she didn't. It wasn't until Drake's performance of Hold On We're Going Home/Started From The Bottom that we really got to see that Rihanna was not feeling it! After all Rihanna was listed as a performer for the telecast. Wonder what happened? Anyway I don't think Rihanna was in no shape to perform anyway. I'm pretty sure the whole telecast was a blur for her.

Overall the MTV VMAs was pretty entertaining. There was certainly a lot memorable moments. Till next year!
