Music Feed: Superstar Groups

If you can't beat em join em. That's what happened when these superstar groups were formed. Unfortunately many of these collaborations never quite came to friction.  It was however exciting thinking about the possible prospect of some of the collaborations. Some did happen and as quick as they happened it was over. Read below to find out more about these past and present superstar groups.

The Queen Project - Tamia Kelly Price Deborah Cox
Do you all remember The Queen Project? It was an album that was to be recorded between singers Tamia, Kelly Price, and Deborah Cox. Unfortunately we never got to hear the album or any songs from the project. What went wrong? I'm not sure to be honest but I do remember reading that the project is definitely not happening.

I'm wondering was Kelly Price the problem. I only say that because I read that Kelly Price is the "villian" on the new R&B Divas L.A. show on TV One.

LSG - Levert Sweat Gill
LSG was comprised of R&B singers Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat, and Johnny Gill. The group was known for their hit single My Body. The group's first album on the Elektra label was very successful. I'm sitting here trying to remember if there was a follow up album or not. Help?

R. Kelly & Jay-Z - Best Of Both Worlds
R. Kelly and Jay-Z hooked up for Best Of Both Words and struck gold! It wasn't until the two superstars hooked up again on Unfinished Business that things really went sour. During Unfinished Business release R. Kelly was on trial for the child molestation charges and NO ONE and I mean no one wanted anything to do with R. Kelly. What was worse was the number or songs being released featuring R. Kelly that had to do without him since he was on trial.

TGT (Tyrese Ginuwine Tank)
TGT is comprised of R&B singers Tyrese, Ginuwine, and Tank. Think of a younger version of the aforementioned LSG. The singers have talked about this project for quite some time and at first I didn't think it was going to happen. Low and behold the guys have come together and released two singles already from their upcoming debut to be released on August 20.

Lucy Pearl
By the time the group Lucy Pearl was formed former En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson had jump shipped from En Vogue. Her solo career never took off so another group idea was infinite. Enter Tony!ToniTone front man Raphael Saadiq and A Tribe Called Quest's DJ Ali Muhammad and you have Lucy Pearl. The group had a few hit singles(Dance Tonight) before Dawn Robinson dropped out of the group(in typical Dawn Robinson fashion). It was a few years later that she would rejoin En Vogue with the other three original members only to leave again. Dawn Robinson can be seen on R&B Divas L.A. Given her diva past one can only wonder if we'll see any of those on R&B Divas L.A.
