Lauryn Hill Working On New Music?, Fantasia Wants Missy Elliott For New Video
Hello all! I hope you all are enjoying your day. Of course I have some music news for you. I have a lot of news actually and this blog post is a little lengthy. I warn you now. Read below for info on Lauryn Hill, Fantasia's idea for her new single, and Mariah Carey's latest musical hookup. It's all here and a lot more.
Lauryn Hill is back in the news for her tax evasion charges. The singer/rapper recently appeared in court and is now due back on May 6. It has been revealed that Lauryn just signed a million dollar deal with Sony Records.
To those who have been waiting for Lauryn Hill to put out new music may finally get their wish. Don't hold your breath though.
Fantasia's new album The Side Effects Of You is in stores today. The album features the single Lose To Win which Fantasia recently performed on American Idol. The album's next single Without Me features Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott. Fantasia wants Missy Elliott to direct the video. Will that happen? We shall see.
Speaking of American Idol new judge Mariah Carey is said to have filmed a new music video over the weekend with Miguel. The video is reportedly her first single from her new album coming soon. Mariah hinted awhile back that new music should arrive shortly before the finale of Idol.
Miguel is hot right now and part of Mariah's success over the years has been her tendency to stay current i.e. work with the hottest artists out at the moment. Being that Mariah is of legendary status who would be silly to turn down the chance to work with her.
The-Dream, who may or may not appear on Mariah's upcoming album is going on tour with Kelly Rowland. Kelly appears on The-Dream's new album as well. The-Dream is currently working with Jay-Z on a new album alongside Timbaland.
I noticed certain artists can bring certain producers back in the limelight(who may of cooled off for a time). It seems like when Justin Timberlake came back out with Timbaland others jumped back on the bandwagon(or they were likely already working with him). Timbaland is working on both Jay-Z and Beyonce's album and I can only imagine who elses. Where was he when Nelly Furtado released her last album? They had a lot of hits together.
It's been said about Timbaland(and even his pal Missy Elliott) they won't work with artists if they are not hot right now and that might of been the case. I refuse to believe Nelly Furtado didn't reach out to Timbaland to work on her last album or maybe he did. I'm not even sure. I just know her album came and went faster than...let me not go there. I'm rambling now!
