Music Feed: Favorite Albums of 2012
What can I say? There were some thoroughly enjoyable albums released in 2012 in both Rap & R&B. Normally not many albums manage to keep my attention but somehow someway these albums manageed to do just that. See what albums made the list of my Favorite Albums of 2012!
10. Woman To Woman - Keyshia Cole
Woman To Woman saw Keyshia Cole back to her old self; in pain and that's where listeners wanted. Keyshia stated she wasn't in a bad space but was able to tap back into the uglier aspects of her past for fans. How thoughtful of her! For money's sake; it was a popular decision for the singer who struggled with her last album.
9. O.N.I.F.C., Wiz Khalifa
Brandy Two Eleven Album Art
8. Two Eleven, Brandy
For a minute there I didn't think we were going to get Brandy's Two Eleven this year. Like most R&B releases the album faced many pushbacks. I will say the album was definitely worth the wait and surely so or it wouldn't of made my top 10 list.
7. God Forgives, I Don't - Rick Ross
6. The Stoned Immaculate, Curren$y
I knew of Curren$y back from his association with Lil' Wayne back in the day. Now signed to Warner Bros. Records Curren$y managed to release an album that was perfect for Summer and its weather. The album featured the perfect batch of songs for what else...stoners!
5. Self Made Vol. 2, Maybach Music Group
4. TM103: Hustlaz Ambition, Young Jeezy
Jeezy's album wasn't actually released in 2012; it was released in late 2011. It was released late enough in the calender year of 2011 to contend for placements in 2012 year end lists such as mine!
3. Careless World, Tyga
2. Looking 4 Myself, Usher
A lot can be said about Usher and his move into more Pop oriented music but he does manage to stick to his R&B roots. The album features an equal mix of R&B and Pop; which is Usher's stock in trade.
1. channel Orange, Frank Ocean
The hype surrounding Frank Ocean's channel Orange was simply ridiculous. With that hype came controversy when Target failed to sale the album after rival iTunes acquired the album first. Target's decision didn't hurt the album's success; it only propelled it!
channel Orange is nominated for six Grammy's! Take that Target!
