The R&B Divas Come Out Swinging Part 1

The last few days have brought us a flurry of newly leaked singles and single snippets from several R&B divas. Some of the buzz for some of these ladies and their perspective singles have already reached a fever pitch among several online message boards and communities. As these ladies bid to outdo one another the bevy of releases prove that there is a strength in numbers.

With R&B music being on the decline there may be hope as several of these ladies try to reestablish their careers and put some luster back into R&B.

The first three divas mentioned here have a few things in common one of those being that their names all being with the later K.

Kelis
Last time we heard from Kelis she was addressing her ex husband Nas and his decision to feature her wedding dress on the cover of his album for Life Is Good in stores and online July 17. When asked about her new music the singer was not as forthcoming about how far along she was. A few days later a new song from Kelis has leaked entitled Distance. The song is likely her new single from her upcoming untitled album.

For the new album Kelis is likely sticking to her foray into Dance music which she displayed on her last album Flesh Tone. While I am not a big fan of Kelis' Dance music I wish her the best. What I want is R&B Kelis from such albums as Tasty and Kelis Was Here. A little wishful thinking never hurt anyone.

Keyshia Cole
With her last album Calling All Hearts underperforming on the charts Keyshia Cole knows she has to come back hard. Her new single Enough Of No Love featuring Lil' Wayne has leaked out in snippet form with the song in full set to leak any day now. She will also debut the new single on Clear Channel radio which will play the song every hour on the hour. Talk about overkill but this is exactly what Keyshia needs.

If that's not enough Keyshia Cole will be starring in a new BET reality show Family First.

Kelly Rowland
It was no secret that Kelly Rowland was working on a new album. Though no one probably expected to hear anything from the new album so soon. Lead single Ice which has leaked out in snippet form finds Kelly collaborating again with Lil' Wayne who appeared on her hit single Motivation. Basically if it ain't broke don't fix it. I can totally understand and respect the mentality.

The mostly R&B album is said to feature songs produced by Sean Garrett among others. I hope Kelly does come hard because I've always rooted for her.

Ashanti
Not one to be outdone Ashanti has come out swinging with the newly released single No One Greater featuring French Montana and Meek Mill. The song is the newest single from her upcoming album Braveheart due this Fall. Producer 7 Aurelius spoke about the new single weeks ago and its finally here and its a banger!

I'm not surprised at the French Montana collaboration because I've seen he and Ashanti in quite a few pictures together. I'm sure that's where the talks of a collaboration came to friction. With Meek Mill being featured and being one of the hottest new rappers out you can't go wrong with that. The song sounds like an immediate hit as well so only time will tell though how this fares. With Ashanti being an indie artist now things are a lot different compared to when she was on a major label. I think that explains the snail pace for a lot of things including the Braveheart album release.

Make sure you check out Part 2 of The R&B Divas Come Out Swinging and make sure you also check out the R&B Males edition Coming Soon.

Album Spotlight: Ne-Yo - In My Own Words

It's probably starting to look like a Ne-Yo fan site here with all the recent posts mentioning him; but I assure you it is not. The hype behind Ne-Yo's debut album; "In My Own Words" reached a fever pitch thanks to the debut single; "So Sick". The song was a huge success including its singles; "Sexy Love", "When Ur Mad" and more.

Ne-Yo definitely plays up on his buzz by writing and producing many of the tracks. This album would lead to Ne-Yo being a very sought after songwriter and producer. It is the album of his I favor the most. I think as he progressed as an artist; I somewhat lost interest.

*UPDATED* Music Feed: Janet Jackson's Most Sexualized Songs: REVISITED

You all, my readers, my visitors; my supporters; you have made this post one of the most successful posts on my blog. I kept wondering what it was about this post, that made it so successful; one word: JANET! The fact that Janet has new music on the way makes this post even more of a hot topic. As its been said before, no one sings about sex quite like Janet Jackson. Her songs, ooze with the right amount of sexuality perfect for a night of steamy sex. Take a look back at a number of songs Janet is responsible for delivering her in trademark breathy delivery. I took the liberty of adding a few other songs that didn't make the list before.

"Warmth"
This song begins with echos of Janet saying "...in my mouth". By then you should already know what this song is about. Janet sings about the "warmth" of her mouth and how she pleases her lover; Jermaine Dupri at the time. This is a very sensual song and it is one of the most explicit Janet has ever recorded …

Album Spotlight: Beyonce - Dangerously In Love

If you were in love in 2003, it wasn't official unless you were living "Dangerously In Love". It was the title of Beyonce's 2003 breakthrough solo album which spawned the singles, "Crazy In Love" featuring Jay-Z, "Baby Boy" featuring Sean Paul, "Me, Myself, and I", and the title track. The album would serve as a precursor of what was to come from this bonafide superstar. Unlike her later albums, "Dangerously" was deep-rooted in southern soul and R&B melodies. This album also showed a more gentler, sultry, and relaxed(voice wise) Beyonce. As opposed to the last few years her style has been more abrasive and in your face. Never one to be outdone, Beyonce was set to release a follow-up to this album titled, "Dangerously In Love 2" featuring unreleased songs but it didn't happen. From the seductive "Speechless" to the cautionary tale of "Me, Myself, and I", "Dangerously In Love" is m…
