Famous Choreographers

They are the famed choreographers who have choreographed many dance sequences we see in videos and movies. Some of those dance sequences have become part of pop culture. Here is a little more info about just some of the more well known choreographers from over the years. Check them out!

Paula Abdul
Though she is more known now for her wacky behavior and her judging stints on "American Idol and now "X-Factor", Paula Abdul was one of the most in demand choreographers back in the day; the late 80s and early 90s.

It should be known that she choreographed Janet Jackson's dance sequences in her early videos. She even made cameos in some of those videos including "What Have You Done For Me Lately" and "Nasty". What may surprise most people is that she choreographed the dance sequence in the Eddie Murphy film; "Coming To America".

Debbie Allen

The sister of Phylicia Rashad; Claire Huxtable on TV's "The Cosby Show" is a star in her own right. She is a famed choreographer through shows such as "Fame" but also numerous award shows.

She's done plays on Broadway, won Tony awards, and starred in every inkling of "Fame" from the TV show, the film, and the remake.

Frank Gatson

He is the man known for inventing the "uh oh uh oh" bop that Beyonce made famous in the video to her single; "Crazy In Love". He has also choreographed videos for Ciara, Jennifer Lopez, Destiny's Child, and En Vogue.

Laurie Ann Gibson

She is probably the most visible of choreographers right now. She is currently working alongside Lady GaGa and over the years has worked closely with Diddy. She's appeared on all his installments of "Making The Band" and a slew of other reality show that's set to air in the next month or so.

Darrin Dewitt Henson
Choreographer of videos to artists such as Britney Spears, N'Sync, Jordan Knight, The Backstreet Boys, and 98 Degrees. He starred in the Showtime series; "Soul Food" and has acted in numerous films, TV shows, and plays.

He also produced his own choreographed fitness video; "Darrin's Dance Grooves" back in 2001.
