Reality TV Killed The Radio Star
I just like the sound of the title post. I mean it is true in some cases though. Reality TV was once pegged as a "fade" that would come and go but reality TV accounts for a huge percentage of programming on TV. Some of my favorite shows and yours are reality shows such as "The Real World", "Jersey Shore", or "Basketball Wives". While these shows feature at first relatively unknown people before their thrust into the spotlight; some other shows star revered and obscure celebrities. Such is the case with the new season of "Celebrity Apprentice". There is also VH1's new drama; "Love & Hip Hop" and more. Read below to find out the part reality TV plays in resurrecting careers.
More and more musicians are finding ways to explore other avenues to promote new albums and gain exposure. Whether its a new reality show, an Android phone application, or a mixtape; musicians definitely have to go all out to please us consumers and music fans.
One of the more popular avenues for promotion is reality TV. Some reality shows featuring musicians are centered around one musician or a group depending on the basis of the show.
LaToya Jackson
One of the many siblings of the celebrated Jackson family stars in the new season of NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice". This is not LaToya's first foray into reality TV; I just can't think of the other shows she appeared on.
Dionne Warwick
The legendary singer displayed her horrible attitude on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" when she engaged in an argument with Lisa Rinna and Marlee Matlin. I was very surprised at how Dionne acted. A lot of these legends can be very snobby though.
Aubrey O'Day
Formerly of the group Danity Kane; Aubrey O'Day tries to resurrect her career via her new reality show; "All About Aubrey" which appears on the Oxygen network.
Olivia
Former G-Unit singer stars in VH1's new reality drama, "Love & Hip Hop". Like Aubrey; the singer is hoping to resurrect her career.
Mashonda
She might be best known as Swizz Beats' ex-wife but Mashonda was signed to J Records through her ex's label; Full Surface. Her debut album was shelved and she did release a few singles preferably the single; "Blackout" which featured various versions with Snoop Dogg and Nas.
Jim Jones
Jim Jones also stars in VH1's "Love & Hip Hop" where he and his girlfriend try and maintain their relationship while working in the music industry.
