Album Spotlight: Bobby Brown - Don't Be Cruel

I was just four years old when this album was released but I still remember it as if it were yesterday. My sister had the cassette. I remember many a times dancing to the songs such as "Every Little Step and "My Prerogative".

Bobby Brown was coming off his stint as a member of the famed R&B group, New Edition. So naturally when Bobby Brown released "Don't Be Cruel", there was much fanfare.

The album featured the title track which was issued as the album's first single. The song was produced by the production team of Babyface and L.A. Reid which later housed the label, LaFace.

"My Prerogative" was chosen as the album's second single and featured a funky video. The song was later remade by Britney Spears which Bobby claims he didn't like. "Roni" was the album's third single followed by "Rock Wit'cha".

This album was a huge hit for Bobby Brown and it sold in excess of 4 million copies.
