2009 Recap: Sorry Your Albums Disappointed Me This Year!

Maybe I didn't give your album a chance? It is possible. Maybe I wasn't even interested in it to begin with. Any who I still have to include it on this list. No offense. It is just my opinion.

I feel like since I hardly listen to rap(though this blog does feature rap) I hold rap albums to a particular standard. I feel like not only does a rapper have to have a tight flow; he has to have beats to match. A lot of rap albums lack that. You will see a lot of rap albums on this list too; I think.

So I present to you the albums that disappointed me this year.

One album I was really looking forward to and was disappointed by was The-Dream's 'Love vs. Money'. I loved the hell out of 'Rockin That Shit' so I just couldn't wait for this album. Once I finally got it, I wasn't too happy with it. That's why I don't like to get hyped up over albums from artists I'm casual fans of cause I never end up satisfied musically.

I didn't have high hopes for Ciara's 'Fantasy Ride' album nor did many others but I think with all the premature leaks, the album was pretty much done before it was even released.

Elektric Red's 'How To Be Lady Vol 1' contained one of my favorite songs of the year, 'So Good' and unfortunately the rest of the album didn't measure up to that. I don't know why I expected it too though. Produced entirely by The-Dream he redeemed himself on Mariah's 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel' though some of the music on there is safe compared to his more playful compositions on 'How To Be..'.

One of the most successful albums this year out of the R&B releases was Keri Hilson's 'In A Perfect World' and I liked all her singles but as a whole album I just couldn't get into it no matter how hard I tried. Maybe next time.

Released in December 2008, Keyshia Cole released, 'A Different Me' and it was just that. I admit I haven't really felt Keyshia Cole since her first album and this one was just thrown together to me. When Keyshia released 'A Diff..' her last album, 'Just Like You' and her singles from that album were still in upper part of the charts. Talk about overkill! Now I'm hearing she's pregnant! And working on a new album!

One rapper I do like and he has one of the nastiest flows out is Jadakiss and he finally returned with his 'The Last Kiss' and while the singles were strong as a whole the album lacked that punch. Hopefully Jada can redeem himself in a few years.

As we all know albums get pushed back more than hairlines and Busta Rhymes' 'Back On My BS' was no exception. The singles were straight but that's where it stopped. Busta has definitely lost his touch.

And so have a few other rappers who returned this year to rap including Eminem's 'Relapse, Cam'ron's 'Crime Pays', and Gorilla Zoe's 'Don't Feed Da Animals'. I can't forget Jeremih's debut album which was just bad!
