2009 Recap: The Biggest & Most Shocking Stories!

Hello all! Perhaps one of the biggest stories of the year was the death of Michael Jackson. The singer died this past June at age 50. Michael's death was a huge loss to everyone. Michael's legacy will forever live on. Michael's entire musical catalog has saw a resurgence in sales and is even outselling newer albums. This is only something a true musical legend and icon can pull off. You are truly missed!

The second biggest story would be Chris Brown assaulting Rihanna. I can still remember that February night during the Grammy awards pre-show where the headlines ran across the screen. It was truly shocking indeed! What was even more shocking was the picture that was revealed of Rihanna all bruised up and bloody. It wouldn't be until November that both artists spoke out on the assault. One month later, Chris Brown is still apologizing and Rihanna is playing up on this newly bad girl image she has acquired.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm: There was a lot of shocking behavior this year namely during various awards shows namely the MTV VMAS. Kanye West jumped on stage and interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech since he was upset that Beyonce didn't win the award. You would of thought Kanye West was nominated for the award and lost. Kanye West is no stranger to this type of behavior. This time though people started to question his sanity.

What was even more bizarre was Lil' Mama joining Jay-Z and Alicia Keys on stage during their performance of 'Empire State Of Mind'. It was truly a moment that caught us all off guard.

And right at the peak of 'The Real Housewives Of Atlanta', Kandi's ex-fiance A.J. was killed in a club brawl. The club just happened to be a club that he owned. How sad!

There were the nasty allegations that Jay-Z, Rihanna and others were devil worshipers. There was the video of 'Umbrella' which someone dissected and a lot of Jay-Z's lyrics were called to question.

Whitney Houston appeared on the 'Oprah' show and for the first time opened up about her alleged drug use and her relationship with Bobby Brown. It was really refreshing and interesting to see Whitney open up about her drug use. Of course this was all on the heels of her releasing 'I Look To You'.

Break Ups To Make Ups: The-Dream & Christina Milian began dating during their work on Milian's 'Elope' album. A few months later it was revealed that the couple got married and are expecting their first child. Congrats!

There were plenty of break ups this year. Not only did Mario have a hit song called, 'Break Up', we saw Nas & Kelis break up! And we actually thought they would last. What was most shocking was Kelis wanting spousal support from Nas and their child.

Another not so lucky couple were Janet Jackson and JD. They were together for seven years and throughout people felt he wasn't good enough for Janet. They also felt he was responsible for her career downfall.

Last but certainly not least, Toni Braxton divorced her husband, Keri Lewis of eight years. We didn't even know they were broken up until Toni Braxton was kissing all up on Trey Songz during the 2009 'Soul Train Awards'. Toni's kiss was Trey was another shocking moment!

Exit, Stage Left: Paula Abdul leaving 'American Idol'; the number one show on TV. It was truly shocking and it made us wonder how it will affect the future of the show. A slight outrage ensued when it was revealed that Ellen Degeneres would take Paula's place on the show! We love Ellen but her replacing Paula? A big no-no!

Jennifer Lopez took a nasty fall at the 'AMAS' this year but downplayed the fall as part of her show.

Well certainly there is more that occurred this year which you will see in a later post.
