Top 5 Artists I Really Like And Why?

1. Ashanti - I love Ashanti! When Ashanti first came out, I wasn't a fan. I never get into artists that are all hyped up. Usually the artists that get hyped up like Ashanti are the ones that get a lot of hate later on. It really wasn't until "Concrete Rose"(Ashanti's 3rd album) that I really started to stan for her. I have noticed that I tend to like artists that other people really don't like or artists who don't get a lot of attention. Among other reasons why I love Ashanti is simply her style, her smile, her personality, her music, and I consider her an underdog in a lot of ways.

2. Marques Houston - I go to a lot of message boards and that's where I get a lot of my music news. Marques is usually the butt of many jokes primarily because his albums sales aren't that of an Usher or a Justin Timberlake. No his sales may not be all that but he makes quality music. Music for the grown and sexy as I like to call it. His last two albums I have really liked and he is my favorite male singer out.

3. Pharrell/The Neptunes - I don't get much into N.E.R.D. or Pharrell's outside projects. It's not even about Pharrell as an artist, I like him moreso as a producer. Like I've said many times before, his productions havent' wowed me in the last few years but I'm expecting a huge change especially since he's working on Brandy's new album and Brandy don't make no bullshit albums. I always loved the retro and lush sounds of The Neptunes. I also like Pharrell's songwriting.

4. Trina - Trina has pretty much replaced Foxy Brown as my all time favorite female rapper. Though a huge part of me stans for Fox and prays she gets it together, I gotta roll with Trina. I like Trina for her determination and ambition. Sure she's not as gifted a lyricist as some of her contemporaries but she grinds hard. She hustles and she has kept herself relevant for over 10 years unlike a lot of other female rappers. I love her sense of style, her attitude, and her albums get better and better.

5. Foxy Brown - I can't get away from this woman and I haven't really allowed myself too. No matter how many trials and tribulations she's been through, I have always been ride or die for Fox. I know many of her fans on her message boards have been outright frustrated with her and they have plenty or reason to be. I tend to overlook a lot of the bullshit associated with Foxy and I realize she is human and makes plenty mistakes. I like Fox for her rap delivery, her persona(no matter how crazy and delusional she appears to be), and her "Ill Na Na" album was the first rap album I ever bought.
