Music Feed: Six Degrees Of Monica

Hello all! I'm back again with another 'six degrees of..' post and this time I decide to profile Monica. Perhaps she is best known for her stunning duet with Brandy, "The Boy Is Mine" which ironically is the title of Monica's 2nd album. Like her counterpart Brandy, Monica's personal life often overshadows her music, especially in recent years. With her oft-delayed album, "Still Standing" on the horizon, Monica is ready to remind listeners why we first fell in love with her in the first place.

I decided to change the format slightly as far as the 'six degrees of...' posts go. Instead of just concentrating on celebs the featured artist is often associated with, I will also include names that may of been recently linked to the featured artist. So for example you will see that the production duo of Stargate is mentioned and is because they are producing on her upcoming album.

Brandy
There had been rumors or Brandy and Monica disliking each other. Those rumors became even more obvious when the singers united for "The Boy Is Mine". Both singers are really good friends now!

Missy Elliott
Missy Elliott is responsible for turning Monica's career around after her "All Eyez On Me" album was shelved. Missy produced the monster hit single, "So Gone" which went to #1 on the R&B charts. Missy is set to produce on Monica's newest album as well.

Jermaine Dupri
Over the years Monica and JD have been closely associated namely due to their native being Atlanta. JD produced Monica's last big hit, "You Should've Known Better" which is one of my favorites from her. JD is also set to produce on Monica's new album.

Rocko
Monica's boyfriend, baby daddy, husband etc. More often is Rocko in trouble with the law than he is dishing out music.

Keyshia Cole
If your an internet junkie like myself, you are likely to have spotted Keyshia Cole and Monica in plenty of pictures together. Keyshia Cole has a house in ATL where Monica resides so I'm sure the two are constantly bumping into one another. Monica is featured on the duet, "Trust" on Keyshia Cole's, "A Different Me" album which is Keyshia's next single(I think).

Stargate
The production duo of Stargate is said to produced "Taxi" which is set to appear on Monica's new album. If you are not familiar with the duo, they have produced songs for Ne-Yo and Beyonce among others.

I kept wondering what it was about this post, that made it so successful; one word: JANET! The fact that Janet has new music on the way makes this post even more of a hot topic. As its been said before, no one sings about sex quite like Janet Jackson. Her songs, ooze with the right amount of sexuality perfect for a night of steamy sex.
