Quick's Catch Up Interview

He finds Lil' Mama annoying. He wouldn't discuss how he designed his blog's banner. He was afraid I was going to take his idea. Not! He feels that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon marriage is "staged". Guess what? A lot of people do. Who am I talking about? One of my good friends in the blogging community is Quick. I like to refer to him as Quickster. He runs one of the most popular blogs on the net, "Quick's Catch Up". Anyway I interviewed Quick last year and I allowed my readers (and visitors) to get to know him. Now I have taken the liberty of conducting a brand-new interview with Quick. I came up with this idea to basically see what has changed within' a year period from when I originally interviewed Quick.

Lamar: For those that do not know, how did you come up with the name "Quick's Catch Up"?
Quick: Well...originally it was supposed to be me and another person doing the blog but they couldn't commit to the blog and the original name was "The Quick Catch Up". But when they fell back I changed it to "Quick's Catch Up" and took on the alias Quick. I felt like this was no longer a joint venture I had to personalize it more.

Lamar: What made you decide to start your own blog?
Quick: I was a big fan of blogging that made me laugh, found out a lot of stuff, started with MySpace stuff, and leaving me comments so why not make it official with a real blog. The person I was going to start out with was a big fan of blogging.

Lamar: What separates your blog from other blogs?
Quick: I think the thing that separates me from everybody else is the content I put up interests me. Its really easy to have the same news as everyone else cuz everyone uses the same sources so instead of finding stories on Wireimage I find stores I care about personally. When I go on my blog I don't see much of the stuff put up on other blogs. I put more things that interest me and things that are important to me.

Lamar: What is in your iPod/MP3/CD player right?
Quick: Wow! It's crazy! It's so European. It's so UK. It's the whole Euro-pop. Everything Chromeo(fancy footwork). I got some Estelle playing. I'm listening to "Forever" by Chris Brown and of course."We Break The Dawn" it has the whole Euro-pop sound. It's also one of Mya's..unreleased songs its called "Give It Up". I'm listening to all things UK. I'm loving that sound! Ok...I can't forget Solange. I can't forget Santogold. And I can't forget about N.E.R.D.

Lamar: Besides Kelly Rowland, what other artist do you stan for?
Quick: Pharrell..most of the things he touches I can't stop playing "I Decided"[by Solange Knowles]; his work with Snoop.

Lamar: What musical trend do you want to see go away?
Quick: That's a hard one! I know everybody is up in arms bout Soulja Boy and I'm not ready to let the 'crank that" dances go away. I like to dance when I go out. You know what? The Stargate songs that sound like "Irreplaceable". I tried hard not to like to the Mariah Carey "Bye Bye" Remix with Jay Z.

Lamar: Can you tell people about what your going to school for?
Quick: I am a communications major and business management is my minor. When I first started school I wanted to be a news reporter and make my way to an anchor seat, but now I want to be in the business world. I want to work with PR divisions of major corporations. I have my internship with the Red Cross in August to see how that goes and start applying for jobs from that perspective.

Lamar: Any last words for the readers here?
Quick: I'm truly grateful that people care about what I have to say. I remember how it was just 5 people at the board when it was just me and I'm surprised at the growth. Some of the bloggers will be reading this interview. I want to thank you for you support. I made a lot of blogger friends. I think you guys have really helped with my growth.
