It's been an eternity since Brandy last released an album, 2004's "Afrodisiac" which was one of her most critically-acclaimed album but one of her lowest selling ever. If you didn't know Brandy recently signed to Epic Records and is working on her debut album for the label. Word is Brandy has hooked up with Rodney Jerkins again. Brandy swore to never work with him again but apparently they buried their hatchet. Other producers expected to appear on Brandy's upcoming untitled album are Kerry Brothers (Alicia Keys), The Writing Camp (Fantasia), Bryan Michael Cox, The Underdogs, and more. It's been so many speculated rumors regarding this album but this info is said to be official. I remember Brandy was working with The Neptunes. I'm hoping those tracks appear on the album as the Neptunes are my favorite producers. I always wanted them to work with Brandy.
Read this brief passage from an Erykah Badu interview where she calls out a famous pop singer:
I wanted to give away my materials,” Badu tells Wired magazine. “It’s about sharing, and that’s why I like this system.” Return of the Ankh is due out in July and is expected to be accompanied by USB sticks which Badu says include extras ranging from footage of concerts, to commentary on the recording process and “me in a bathtub with Flavor Flav.”Catfight!?!?
Erykah also hinted at the fall release of a “period piece” tentatively titled Lowdown Loretta Brown. While she has used the alias Loretta Brown during her live performances, she was rather tight-lipped about how it would be used for a full-length release saying, “I don’t want to introduce too much of that right now. I don’t want Gwen Stefani stealing my shit.”
Producer Babyface and his girlfriend Nikki Pattenburg are expecting a child together. This will be the 3rd child for Babyface. He has two other children with ex-wife Tracey Edmonds. Meanwhile you can hear Babyface on the song "Comfortable" featured on Lil' Wayne's "The Carter 3" album which is in stores June 10.
You can expect a new album from bad girl Pink this winter. I will post more information as it becomes available.
