Usher Opens Up, Lil' Wayne Shuts Down

I'm surprised network BET has revealed that Usher was opening the show. Usually the opening of the show is always shrouded in mystery. The awards show had a history of opening their telecast with surprising and shocking performances. I thought it would be interesting if someone like Michael Jackson opened the show by performing "Thriller" due to its recent 25th anniversary. I know Mike is always facing some type of lawsuit or something though which probably would prevent his involvement had it been suggested. In other BET award show news, Lil' Wayne will be the closing act for the show. The popular rapper will be starring in the two new movies, one "Patriots" with Forest Whitaker and "Fast & The Furious 4" with Vin Diesel.

Keri Hilson, who is currently featured as the love interest in Usher's "Love In This Club" video and also responsible for a handful of hits will be releasing her debut album, "In A Perfect World" on September 23. The album is preceded by first single, "Energy". I know Keri has a huge following online. Hopefully that huge following can translate into huge sales when she releases her debut album.

Solange Knowles will debut her new video, "I Decided" on BET's "106 & Park" on Thursday at 6 p.m. It is the first single to her upcoming, "Sol-Angel & The Street Hadley Dreams" in stores August 26. The album houses collaborations from Q-Tip, Bilal, Marsha Ambrosius, Cee-Lo, and Lil' Wayne.

50 Cent is looking to leave record label Interscope Records. The rapper owes the label two more releases. The first release being, G-Unit's "Terminate On Site" in stores July 1. 50 is also determined to get a solo release out by 4th quarter (Oct - Dec).
