The Daily Roundup: Solid As A Roc

Rumors have been running rampant about the state of Roc-a-fella and its impending status on the Def Jam label. I reported earlier that Philly rapper Peedi Peedi was dropped from Roc-a-fella and indeed he has been. Peedi spoke exclusively to SOHH about his falling out with the Roc and Jay Z. Now fresh on the heels of that interview, Billboard has unleashed an article claiming Peedi is still with the label. It also states that he will take part in an upcoming State Property album released under Def Jam. While Beanie Sigel and Freeway expressed their discontent with the label, they are still with Roc-a-fella. No other artists have been dropped despite various reports. Roc-a-fella/Def Jam is facing a major upheaval right now with Jay Z not catering to the artists and only being concerned with NeYo and Rihanna, two artists who are very successful (single wise) but can hardly go platinum might I add. If Jay Z put as much effort as he does promoting NeYo/Rihanna into Roc-a-fella, they'd be platinum. But as LL Cool J said best (and everyone else), "Jay Z is good at supporting Jay Z". Wow! I can't remember the last time Roc-A-Fella has gotten this much press.

After 17 years on daytime televison talk show host, Montel Williams and his show of the same name will be ending after this season. Montel's show became synonymous with other talk show giants of the time such as Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, Ricki Lake, Sally Jesse Raphael, and even Oprah (Winfrey). The show deals with emotional and heartbreaking themes, reunions, and the paranormal. Acclaimed psychic Sylvia Browne began appearing on Montel and eventually became so popular that she became a regular on the show and she was one of the reasons why I watched (at that time).

As previously reported MTV's "Making The Band" boy group were said to be named "826 Boys" but apparently that is not true. "826" was said to be a reference for when the group was formed. Supposedly negative feedback prompted the name change. Well whatever their name is I'm sure we will learn soon. I am also assuming the men finished their album first since their album is set to be released (March 11) before Danity Kane (March 18).
