News Flash: The Game Plan
Rapper Game is about 80% done with his upcoming album, "LAX". Game is collaborating with DJ Nu Jersey Devil, Scott Storch, and Cool & Dre among others. Look for the album to be released sometime this spring. Meanwhile we can expect Game to release a mixtape, "Am I My Brother's Keeper?" shortly before the albums release. There have been rumors of Game reuniting with Dr. Dre but only time will tell if it is true. Apparently this is the last Game album we will get but if it is successful, it won't be. Believe that!
We will have to wait awhile longer on the upcoming Jennifer Hudson album. Executive producer Clive Davis scrapped the album and instead has sought out producer Timbaland to produce some of the songs. Meanwhile you can catch Jennifer in the upcoming movie, "Sex & The City" in theatres May 30. I can't say I'm really looking forward to Jen's album until I hear something first. I wish her the best of luck though. I just hope her career doesn't end up like Jennifer Holliday (the original Dreamgirl).
Lil' Kim has parted ways with longtime record label Atlantic Records. Kim stated the she left Atlantic Records awhile back but apparently now its official. The Queen Bee will release her as yet untitled upcoming album through Imperial Records. The album is due sometime either in April or May 2008. If you have noticed more and more artists are going the independent route. Artists make more money and have more control over their work by signing to an indie label.
G-Unit rapper Young Buck will release his new album, "Product Of The South" on April 1 through Cashville/Sony Records. While the rapper is still associated with G-Unit, Buck opted for a fresher sound reaching out to Plies, Devin The Dude, and Young Jeezy among others. I think it is cool Buck is moving on and expanding his horizons. It simply comes a time where its time to leave the nest, that nest being G-Unit.
Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in NYC home. Ledger was best known for his roles in "Brokeback Mountain", "The Patroit" and soon in "The Dark Knight" a sequel to 2005 smash "Batman Begins". Ledger will play the infamous The Joker. The cause of death is said to be drug related. I am sure more details will emerge as police investigate.
