Music Feed: Nine Songs About Drugs

1. Drugs; Lil' Kim
Lil' Kim goes on a brag fest about her love and use of drugs and she does it so cool that most of the drug talk can go over your head. Lil' Kim's flow on this is really something to point out and something to listen for.

2. Drugz; Ne-Yo
This song may be the most unrecognizable song on this tally due to it being an unreleased song. Here; Ne-Yo talks about his feelings for a woman which drives him to refer to her as a drug of sorts. It's not exactly original but Ne-Yo gets his point across and its actually a song I really really like.

3. Let's Get Blown; Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell
I know Snoop Dogg has many songs in his catalog dedicated to drugs but this is the first one that came to mind. Plus the song is one of my favorites from Snoop and The Neptunes who produced the song.

4. I Get High; Styles P
One third member of the group The Lox went solo and scored his biggest hit thus far. The song was an instant favorite when released. I remember my friend saying he was scared of the video because of the fluorescent lighting which made Style P's eyes look eerily weird.

5. Mary Jane; Rick James
You would think with a title like Mary Jane; Rick James is singing about a woman. Well that's what he wants you to think but he is actually singing about marijuana. In a strange twist of irony; Rick James discovered the group The Mary Jane Girls.

6. Chyna White; Foxy Brown
It took me about a year before I realized what Foxy Brown was talking about on "Chyna White". I didn't learn until I was taking a Health class that I learned that Chyna White was a street name for the drug heroin.

7. Brown Sugar; D'Angelo
I had no idea "Brown Sugar" was about drugs but then again I truly never paid much attention to the lyrics. How late am I?

8. Hustlin'; Rick Ross
Rick Ross' debut single was a big hit that told the story of the hustler Rick Ross in which Rick Ross(real name William Roberts) named himself after.

9. Blue Magic; Jay-Z
Jay-Z recalls his days as a drug dealer; which he has done in the past. This song appeared on the 'American Gangster" soundtrack and "Blue Magic" is also mentioned in the film.
